I wish the media would stop their "The Sky Is Falling" method of reporting the news and the "not news."

Examples:

One of our local stations a few years ago actually interrupted programming with a "Special Report" and cut to aerial footage of Anna Nicole Smith's body being put on an airplane.

When it snows they send someone out into the street to do a live broadcast and saying stupid things. So help me, one reporter in our most recent storm said something like "You see this here? This is snow and it's cold and wet."

I wish they would stop running every topic into the ground and using sensationalism combined with the selective reporting of the details to cause people who are only vaguely familiar with (or totally ignorant about) the actual details of a story to panic (or call Congress).

Even my beloved NPR is guilty of this from time to time and I turn off the radio.

Yeah, time for more coffee...
