Default Fri Sept 29th is National Coffee Day

How to score free coffee on National Coffee Day

As far as we're concerned every day should be a day to celebrate coffee, but if you need an excuse for an extra cup or two of joe — besides the mounting evidence that coffee is good for you — you'll have one this Friday, Sept. 29 because it's National Coffee Day.

Check our list of freebies at Dunkin' Donuts, Krispy Kreme, Peet's and more. Plus, keep an eye on your favorite shops' social media feeds for local #NationalCoffeeDay deals.

Krispy Kreme: Krispy Kreme is extending National Coffee Day through the weekend, offering customers one free cup of coffee (any size hot brew or a small iced premium blend) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Dunkin' Donuts: This year for National Coffee Day, Dunkin' Donuts is giving away a free medium hot coffee to anyone who buys a medium, large or extra large cup of hot coffee. So you can treat a friend or get extra jacked yourself.

Whole Foods: On National Coffee Day, Allegro Coffee Company will donate $1 from each cup of batch brew coffee purchased from Whole Foods Market coffee bars to the Whole Planet Foundation (up to $40,000), which funds poverty poverty alleviation projects in places around the world where Whole Foods Market sources products.

Peet's Coffee: Peet's has a couple of National Coffee Day promotions going on, including 25 percent off all beans and a free drip coffee or tea with bean purchase at participating Peet's coffee bars, as well as 25 percent off all regular, non-subscription, bean purchases made at Peets.com using the promo code "COFFEEDAY17."

Intelligentsia: On National Coffee Day, Intelligentsia is offering $3 off all 12 ounce bags of whole bean coffee at retail location and online (the promotion is an expansion of their regular Friday Roasters Special). As part of Intelligentsia's participation in the Night of 1,000 Pours charity fundraiser, customers will be given the option donate that $3 dollars rather than keeping it. Intelligentsia will match every $3 donation and send all proceeds to hurricane relief in Texas and Florida.

Caribou Coffee: Caribou is also helping its customers help others on National Coffee Day by donating 10 percent of Amy's Blend Coffee, merchandise and all Caribou Coffee Signature Blend and Single Origin purchases to CancerCare.

McDonald's: You don't have to wait until National Coffee Day for this one — McDonald's is currently running a limited time promotion in which customers can purchase any small McCafé specialty beverage for just $2.
