It comes from Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover novels - I am a member of a virtual Renunciate Guildhouse, and Esme nha Maire is my Renunciate name. it simply states that I, Esme, am the daughter of my mother, Maire, although I Gallicised her name to use as the last component of mine.
