I want to tell you that I love you, but I really don’t know how
I want to show you what’s in my heart and on my mind but I’m afraid to now.
If I’d met you years ago I would have told you how I feel.
So much has happened in my life that I don’t know what is real.
My heart wants to fall in love with you, but my mind says not yet
A lot has happened in the past few months, so much I need time to forget.
Forget the love I hold inside for one who doesn’t love me back
And find the love I gave away, to extend my commitment without slack.
I feel if I told you now, I would only be saying the words
And cheating you somehow of what you deserve.
You need to be loved more than life itself, and I only hope you’ll wait.
For me to get over the past and my heart to open the gate.
