keeping a positive attitude and sense of humor

saw my neurosurgeon for the 2nd time today ... he reviewed the disc I brought for him ... 2 different types of bone scans I had done AUG 9th per his request

he told me he would not touch my back ... said to go through a rigorous bone and mineral building process for a year or year and a half and then "might" be able to do the surgery ... and by the way, I have to have bolts and screws put in there - no way around dodging metal

here is how he described the surgery if he performed the surgery before a year or year and a half and without good results from the bone and mineral building process --- it would be like hanging a 100 pound picture on a cardboard wall ... --->> my spine would collapse

actually, I am handling this news astonishingly well

I go back to see him in 6 months ... meanwhile, tomorrow I will call my primary physician and tell her I need her to take lead, tell me everything I need to do to hit the ground running with this rebuilding ... she is THE BEST and will put my show on the correct road fast

driving home from the u.a.b. kirkland clinic today, I broke up into an insane fit of laughter ... something came to mind that I have not thought of in probably 55 years or so ...

it probably won't be funny to any of you but will tell the story anyway

Here goes:
You know how really young children (3 or 4 years old) can become extremely excited about something and when they start telling you about it ... suddenly all they can say is "and umm and umm and umm" about half a dozen or so times ... well, I used to do that to Charlie (father) when I was 3 and 4 years old ... he would become so agitated this is what he would say to me while I was dancing from one foot to the other and pulling on one of my fingers still doing the "and ums" ...

it is very goofy --->>>

quoting Charlie:
"Meanwhile back at the ranch, Tonto, unaware the Lone Ranger was disguised as a doorknob and shot his knockers off."

I felt like the Lone Ranger today when I left the doctor appointment. I think shock took me to that giddy, uncontrolled laughter. I was not prepared to hear what this doc told me. That is all.

It is all good and I will get this issue worked out eventually. I am positively certain of that!
