Québec City!

It's teeming with history, has cobblestone pedestrian streets, is very walk-able (though be prepared to take on some steep hills!), and the architecture in the historic area near the Château Frontenac makes you feel like you're stepping into the 1600s.

I love the atmosphere of the town. Lots of little independent local shops and the feeling in December near the holidays when they have all the lights and decorations out is magical. :-)

Go down to the river's edge, lean against the railing, let the gentle snowfall lightly dust your hair, and just try not to fall in love with this place. It just feels warm and cozy but at the same time majestic when you look up and see the Chateau all lit up and looming over everything.

Plus, while you're there you can splurge on some authentic French-Canadian poutine!

(I have no idea how to resize this on my iPhone... sorry)

If you are ever in Montréal, be sure to try at least two of the 25 different variations at La Banquise!
