Perhaps it has been suggested before or you've already tried it but getting an aloe plant, cutting off a 1/2 inch piece and rubbing the open end on your cut may provide surprising marvellous results in reducing scarring.
Worked for me. Try it. Plant's cheap and ubiquitous. What have you got to lose?
