Similar story. Mom went on a double date with her friend. Mom liked her friend's date and vice versa. My mother ended up marrying the boy she liked (her friend's date), and her friend married my mother's date! The other couple divorced at some point down the line, but Mom and Dad stayed together until he passed a few years ago.
Oh, and I am not named after anyone. I just texted my mother for confirmation!
