It's way cheaper
You get outside in the fresh air and get in some excerise while tending the garden
When it comes harvest time, you can share your bounty with other less fortunate folks

Zillah, WA area to check out the horse rescue program, have Mexican food, pick up pasteries, tamales and tortillas for my friends back home.
