I love whacked tourist attractions. See the sign on the highway; drive on for abt 5 minutes while thinking about it, then make a fast u-turn and go back to visit...i'm never disappointed:
the Torrington Alberta Gopher Museum; the Corn Palace in Mitchel S.Dakota, the massive World's First UFO Landing Pad in St Paul Alberta, World's Largest Painted Easter Egg in Vegreville Alberta.etc etc. I always imagine someone going into a town council meeting carrying a flip chart and saying "Listen up, everyone! I have a great idea for a great tourist attraction that's going to bring thousands of tourists here...put us on the map...We got big trees, let's cut a hole in one and let people drive through it...We got lots of of cow shit, let's have the world's biggest cow shit throwing Olympics ..etc etc.. And I always show up.
