I watched a quick one season show called Daybreak on Netflix and also the remake of She's All That (He's All That) and it is eh. There's a lot of social influencing/ers in it and I like that the lead is not a size 0. I like that they brought Rachael Leigh Cook back, too.

There's a bit of that wink, wink in Daybreak too, because it breaks the 4th wall, which Ferris Bueller's Day Off did and Matthew Broderick was in both as well.

In between the side stuff I watch, I'm still working through iZombie. I think it has 5 seasons and I'm in season 4 now.

Watched Do The Right Thing on the criterion channel and I forgot just how great it was on so many fronts. The opening dance sequence by Rosie Perez, the vibrant colors, using veteran and upcoming actors, the message of changing neighborhoods, the beautiful shots of Brooklyn, the anger and violence and the very powerful music.

Think I'll spend some time re-watching Spikes films.

The dumbest movie ever. This is what happens when I steer clear of facts and let my mind drift off into the land of visual fiction. Basically it was just a whole bunch of gloomy gray weather, some wood chopping and a death. That and a large portion of it was in a foreign language I didn't understand which the close captioners didn't even bother to caption, not in any language. Well if those portions were as stupid as the rest maybe that was a blessing. I won't name the movie because it might peak curiosity and inspire others to have a look, maybe even watch it in it's entirety and I'm not a torturer. Besides somebody here might have made it or know the person who did but seriously come on Canada I know you can do better.

Colin in Black and White on Netflix.

It was heartbreaking, inspiring, entertaining, and good. I very much liked learning about the teenager that grew into a conscientious man.

Jaden Michael was excellent as a young Kaepernick, but I was just as impressed with Mary-Louise Parker as his loving but clueless mother who would sometimes follow her instinct without understanding why.

It was heartbreaking to feel his loneliness when seeing the racism, micro-aggressions, and colorism he faced. And the tears started flowing when his buddy explained why young Kaepernick couldn’t go with him on some of his escapades.

Colin did a very good job as narrator connecting all the dots.

Also, kudos to this team for shedding a little bit of light on why some bi-racial people identify as Black. (The choice isn’t always theirs—it’s often a reflection of how they’re treated by society. Think: Barack Obama or Nikole Hannah-Jones. Astute parents prepare their children for this. Unfortunately, Kaepernick had to learn this on his own.)

I often avoid films about bi-racial families because they seem to only want to show one side—the side of possibilities and not the side of realities, but this series rang true for me and it’s one I’ll watch again.

The Harder They Fall on Netflix

Watched this yesterday and enjoyed it a lot! Almost errbody was on fire! It was funny, violent, sweet, and sad. Just what you want in an old-school style spaghetti western. And of course, the violence and shootouts were choreographed well, even though I had to turn away a couple times.

I will definitely watch this one again.

I started watching Yellowjackets {Showtime} and before I knew it, I'd sat through all five available episodes. The first episode is good and gets your attention and then in the second episode it gets really good really fast. They drop new episodes on Sundays.

Kevin Hart has been on my shit list for years, but a friend encouraged me to give True Story (Netflix) a try and I was taken with the first episode. Much better than I ever expected and I'll watch another episode this weekend.

Have binge watched some of the 90 Day Fiancé Pillow Talk on Discovery Plus. I l love watching couples watch other couples. Quite funny at times. It's interesting how we have the right answers when observing others.

Binge watched some oldies on Pluto (Medium, Life After Beth, CSI Miami).

Am looking forward to catching Stephen Colbert interview Denzel.

Just started a series that's free during Black History Month for Amazon Prime members: Black History, Black Freedom, and Black Love. It's produced by MasterClass. The speakers are: Jelani Cobb, Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw, Angela Davis, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Sherrilyn Ifill, John McWhorter, Cornell West.

Weed The People, with my Boomer adoptive mom..who is a Retired RN...I truly never thought I'd hear her say that I need to move to get Medical Marijuana card and smoke it...

Sad thing is, the illegal growing sites are making the legit regulated growing sites, look bad.

Weed, is not a gateway drug by any means, as the old bs propaganda says from the olden days, as I tell my mom. I was doing harder, illegal drugs way before I smoked weed....I was an abusing addict for 3 years, been clean off of that crap for over 20 years now.

It was okay, but nothing I'd watch again. Had a Hollywood ending that I didn't appreciate.

Also watched Jane Wants a Boyfriend on Kanopy.

From Kanopy: Jane is a bright-eyed young woman in her mid-20s living with autism. When her parents announce that they're moving to the suburbs, they propose that Jane move in with her overprotective, recently engaged older sister, Bianca. Inspired by Bianca's relationship, Jane announces that she wants a boyfriend - and that she wants Bianca's help. Bianca embarks on a search, pessimistic that anyone will accept Jane's eccentricities. Unbeknownst to Bianca, her good friend Jack, a womanizing sous chef who wants to change his ways, becomes enamored with Jane, and goes around Bianca's back to ask her out on a date.

I quite enjoyed this and will watch it again in a few years. It, too, had a Hollywood ending, but it worked for me on this film.

Unbeknownst to Bianca, her good friend Jack, a womanizing sous chef who wants to change his ways, becomes enamored with Jane, and goes around Bianca's back to ask her out on a date. I quite enjoyed this and will watch it again in a few years. It, too, had a Hollywood ending, but it worked for me on this film.
