Default Aubrey O’Day, alleged Trump Jr mistress, exposes Trump family in now-deleted tweets: report...

O’Day apparently watched President Donald Trump criticize Hunter Biden, the son of Democratic nominee Joe Biden. The “Wrecking Ball” singer decided to put the Trump family’s contradictions on blast.

Refinery29, a media outlet tailored to young women, obtained a screenshot of O’Day’s now-deleted tweets and reported that one post included the following message: “Since trump has now lowered this debate to trashing family.

– don jr HATES his father.

-ivanka is a lesbian on the low.

-eric f**ked miss universe on the apprentice board room table while with his now-wife. #Debates2020.”

“And while we are at it.. I have texts of don jr telling me what a little shit asshole barron is.” O’Day wrote in a second tweet.

O’Day has had close dealings with Donald Jr. years before. She appeared as a contestant on the fifth season of ABC’s The Celebrity Apprentice in 2012, in which Don Jr. played an advisor role. During the taping, the two allegedly had an affair.

Default Oh gees what a surprise.............

Famed fashion editor created 'intolerant' workplace!

Anna Wintour admits to 'mistakes along the way' in NYT report on 'intolerant' Vogue workplace.

A bombshell story in the New York Times addresses the issue of diversity at Vogue with a sharp eye cast on the woman who helms the ship: Anna Wintour. The Saturday piece, which leans on interviews with 18 unnamed sources, claims that under Wintour — who has been Vogue’s editor-in-chief since 1988 and Condé Nast’s artistic director since 2013 — the magazine “welcomed a certain type of employee — someone who is thin and white, typically from a wealthy family and educated at elite schools.”

According to Vogue, Wintour, 70, emailed her staff in early June, in the wake of the protests ignited by the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, saying, “I want to say plainly that I know Vogue has not found enough ways to elevate and give space to Black editors, writers, photographers, designers and other creators. We have made mistakes, too, publishing images or stories that have been hurtful or intolerant. I take full responsibility for those mistakes.”

Many saw the email as “calculated”, “hypocritical” or even “hollow” — an argument bolstered when Wintour was not present that month for a meeting on race and racism. But some Black employees told the Times the email was “an awkward, though heartfelt, attempt at genuine change.”

Post 5 New Netflix Series

5 New Series Coming To Netflix In December That Are Worth The Binge

Enter the world of London's high society with this period drama from Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and creator Chris Van Dusen.

As we fight an out-of-control pandemic and face another round of lockdowns, most would concur that 2020 cannot end soon enough. The upside is that Netflix NFLX +1.3% has a slew of new movies and series to help us get through December.

This much-needed escapism is what people are looking for and streaming is at an all-time high. Netflix just announced that The Queen’s Gambit is its most popular limited scripted series ever with a record 62 million households bingeing the seven-part series its first 28 days.

It’s fun to try and guess which new shows will be the next big hit for the streaming giant, but with so many choices on what to watch, how do you pick what to binge next? Here’s a list of five new Netflix original series premiering in December that are definitely worth the binge.

Christian Serratos stars as Selena.

Selena: The Series Part 1 (December 4, Nine Episodes): Before Selena Quintanilla became known the world over as the Queen of Tejano Music, she was a young girl from Texas with big dreams and an even bigger voice. The show explores her journey from singing small gigs to becoming the most successful female Latin artist of all time. The story also includes the many years of hard work, struggle and sacrifice the Quintanilla family endured. This deep look into Selena’s life comes from executive producers Jaime Dávila, Rico Martinez, Hiromi Kamata, Suzette Quintanilla, Simran A. Singh and Moises Zamora and was created by Zamora with Don Todd (This is Us) consulting. Christian Serratos, Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Noemí Gonzalez and Seidy López star.

Dr. Devi Shetty is one of four surgeons featured in the new Netflix doc series 'The Surgeon's Cut' premiering in December.

The Surgeon’s Cut: (December 9, Four Episodes): This docuseries crisscrosses the globe profiling four ground-breaking surgeons. Each has a unique visionary approach to their craft and the viewer will be privy to their work as they perform innovative operations and procedures on patients. These experts will also discuss their personal journeys into medicine and provide information on what it’s like to be a surgeon. Each individual story will shed light on the intricacies of the human body and delve into the fascinating ways in which the body is constantly being reinvented by new discoveries and techniques. The doctors vary in specialties, including fetal medicine, neurosurgery, transplant surgery and cardiology.

Tao Tsuchiya and Kento Yamazaki in 'Alice in Borderland' premiering soon on Netflix.

Alice in Borderland (December 10, Eight Episodes): This dark, suspenseful sci-fi thriller is based on the graphic novel “Imawa no Kuni no Alice” by Haro Aso and centers on Arisu, an aimless, jobless and video-game-obsessed young man, who suddenly finds himself in a strange, emptied-out dystopian parallel version of Tokyo. In this new world, he and his friends are forced to compete in a series of dangerous, sadistic games in order to survive. In this strange world, Arisu meets Usagi, a young woman who is also navigating the games alone. Together, they set out to unravel one mystery after another as they risk their lives and confront what it means to live. The series is directed by Shinsuke Sato and stars Kento Yamazaki (Kingdom, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K) and Tao Tsuchiya (Library Wars: BOOK OF MEMORIES, Mare). The series was written by Yoshiki Watabe, Yasuko Kuramitsu and Shinsuke Sato. Kaata Sakamoto executive produced alongside producer Akira Morii for production company ROBOT.

Kylie Jefferson stars as a young ballerina who is about to see the darkest sides of competition in 'Tiny Pretty Things' on Netflix.

Tiny Pretty Things (December 14, Ten Episodes): Described as Black Swan meets Pretty Little Liars, this series is set in the elite, and very dark, world of ballet. The story, based on the YA novel of the same name by Dhonielle Clayton and Sona Charaipotra, will give the viewer an inside look into the highly competitive and extremely cutthroat world of dance as Neveah (Kylie Jefferson) starts at Chicago’s prestigious Archer School of Ballet where the quest for perfection is not only a requirement, it’s also deadly. Prior to Neveah’s arrival, one of the school’s star students, Cassie Shore (Anna Maiche), fell to her death. The official story is that it was a fatal misstep but who mistakenly falls from a four-story building? The rumor is Cassie was pushed. There’s even someone the other dancers suspect did it, but no one will fess up. Michael MacLennan serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer. Also, executive producing are Kiliaen Van Rensselaer, Jordanna Fraiberg and Deborah Henderson of Insurrection Media, Gary Fleder and Gabrielle Neimand of Mojo Films and Carrie Mudd of Peacock Alley.

Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton in 'Bridgerton' premiering Christmas Day on Netflix.

Bridgerton (December 25, Eight Episodes): This American period drama was created by Shondaland’s Chris Van Dusen and executive produced by Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers. Based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, the story is set in the competitive world of Regency London high society and follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, as she makes her debut onto the competitive marriage market. Hoping to follow in the footsteps of her parents and find a match sparked by true love, Daphne’s prospects initially seem to be unrivaled. But as her older brother begins to rule out her potential suitors, the scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown, voiced by the one and only Julie Andrews, casts aspersions on Daphne. Enter the highly desirable and rebellious Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), committed bachelor and the catch of the season for the debutantes’ mamas. Despite proclaiming that they want nothing the other has to offer, their attraction is undeniable and sparks fly as they find themselves engaged in an increasing battle of wits while navigating society’s expectations for their future. This series has all the goods: it’s a romantic and scandalous tale that celebrates the timelessness of enduring friendships, families finding their way and the search for a love that conquers all. Golda Rosheuvel, Jonathan Bailey, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Nicola Coughlan, Ruby Barker, Luke Thompson, Sabrina Bartlett, Ruth Gemmell, Adjoa Andoh, Polly Walker, Bessie Carter and Harriet Cains round out the cast.

Post Elliot Page, Star of 'Juno'

Elliot Page, Star of 'Juno' and 'The Umbrella Academy,' Comes Out as Transgender

"I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey," Page wrote in a letter Tuesday.

Elliot Page, who was previously known as Ellen, attends The IMDb Studio
Presented By Intuit QuickBooks on Sept. 7, 2019 in Toronto.

Elliot Page, who currently stars on Netflix's "The Umbrella Academy," came out as transgender and non-binary on Tuesday.

"I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey," Page, who was previously known as Ellen Page, wrote.

"I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I've been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community."

Page went on to write that although he feels "profoundly happy" about sharing his story, he's also scared "of the invasiveness, the hate, the 'jokes' and of the violence."

Twitter @TheElliotPage

12:10 pm, Dec 1, 2020

"To be clear, I am not trying to dampen a moment that is joyous and one that I celebrate, but I want to address the full picture. The statistics are staggering. The discrimination towards trans people is rife, insidious and cruel, resulting in horrific consequences," he wrote in the letter.

"In 2020, alone it has been reported that at least 40 transgender people have been murdered, the majority of which were Black and Latinx trans women."

The LGBTQ advocacy group Human Rights Campaign reported in October that it recorded more violent deaths of transgender or gender non-conforming people in 2020 than in any other year since it began tracking such crimes in 2013.

Page ended the letter by condemning politicians who attack the transgender community.

"Enough is enough. You aren't being 'cancelled,' you are hurting people. I am one of those people and we won't be silent in the face of your attacks," he wrote.

"I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive," Page continued. "To all the trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better."

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, also known as GLAAD, praised Page's coming out as "an inspiration to countless trans and non-binary people."

Page's wife, Emma Portner, said she was "so proud."

"Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world," Portner wrote on Instagram. "I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much."

Netflix tweeted: "So proud of our superhero! WE LOVE YOU ELLIOT! Can't wait to see you return in season 3!"

Post Tom Cruz Blasts Crew on MI Set

Tom Cruise Recorded Screaming at Crew Members For Breaking COVID-19 Rules.

[Click Here To Listen to the Audio]

A furious Tom Cruise berated crew members on the set of Mission: Impossible 7, warning that they'll be "f****** gone" if they're caught breaking COVID-19 protocol.

The Hollywood actor flew into a rage after reportedly spotting two crew members failing to socially distance from one another.

"I don't ever want to see it again, ever!" Cruise is heard yelling in the leaked audio. "And if you don't do it you're fired, if I see you do it again you're f****** gone. And if anyone in this crew does it - that's it, and you too and you too. And you, don't you ever f****** do it again."

Insiders say Cruise was furious at his staff for risking all of his efforts to keep filming going as the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact the industry.

"They're back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us!" Cruise said. "Because they believe in us and what we're doing! I'm on the phone with every f****** studio at night, insurance companies, producers, and they're looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs you motherf******."

The coronavirus pandemic has already caused the latest installment of the film franchise to experience delays. Cruise held crisis talks with the film's director after 12 people tested positive for the virus, causing 150 extras to not shoot their scenes in Italy.

Since returning to the United Kingdom for more filming, the actor has tried to ensure there are no more delays. He even paid over half a million dollars for an old cruise ship for the cast and crew to isolate on.

"That’s it! No apologies," Cruise continued. "You can tell it to the people that are losing their f-ing homes because our industry is shut down. It's not going to put food on their table or pay for their college education. That's what I sleep with every night. The future of this f****** industry!"

Mission: Impossible 7's release date has been pushed from July 23 to November 19, 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Default Leah Remini Says Tom Cruise’s ‘Psychotic Rant’ About COVID-19 Is A ‘Publicity Stunt’...

While many stars have come to Cruise’s defense over the leaked audio recording of the actor allegedly berating members of the “Mission Impossible 7” crew for breaking safety guidelines, Remini believes his outburst was “for public relations reasons only.” In a post Wednesday on the anti-Scientology blog The Underground Bunker, Remini, one of the organization’s most high-profile defectors and prominent critics, called the tirade a “psychotic rant” and described Cruise as an “abusive person.”

“Tom does not care about the families of his crew; this is all for publicity,” Remini wrote. “Tom does not believe in family values. I mean, how anyone is falling for this is just mind-blowing. I would bet that Tom had this rant written for him and had his Scientology assistant record and release it. Hearing a rich actor with enormous power address his crew in this way is a sign of weakness and a deeply troubled person.”

Tom seems to think that Hollywood is incapable of making films without his help. Saying such a thing indicates the godlike figure Tom believes he is, and what he is told by Scientology,” Remini continued. “The reality is, anyone who is working in Hollywood today is working under strict COVID guidelines. Anyone who is working knows this. Tom Cruise is not dictating how films are being made, even if he seems to think so.”

Remini went on to claim the rant reveals Cruise’s “true personality.”

“He is an abusive person. I witnessed it, I’ve been a recipient of it on a small level, and I’ve been told of similar abuse by his former girlfriend, his employees, and his friends,” Remini wrote. “This is the real Tom.”

And she encouraged those commending his behavior to reconsider given the power dynamic at play, writing, “This is not just a guy in the middle of a public place standing up to someone for not wearing a mask. This is Tom friggin’ Cruise wielding his power and threatening and degrading his crew.”

“They say I do it, ain’t nobody caught me / Sure got to prove it on me / Went out last night with a crowd of my friends / They must’ve been women, ’cause I don’t like no men,” Ma Rainey declares in “Prove It on Me Blues.” That 1928 tune isn’t performed in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, the new film based on August Wilson’s 1982 play that premiered Friday on Netflix. But Viola Davis, who is deeply familiar with Wilson’s oeuvre — she won an Oscar for her role in the 2016 film based on his play Fences — quotes that song in revealing how she leaned into Rainey's unapologetic queerness. As Rainey, Davis oozes with sexuality, not only in the opening scenes when she’s flanked by writhing women onstage, or in scenes where she holds her girlfriend Dussie Mae from behind — but with every wave of her fan, each note she belts, and every chug of her ice-cold Coca-Cola.

“In researching Ma Rainey, she was unapologetic about her sexuality,” Davis tells The Advocate. “This is a woman who went to orgies. She was arrested at an orgy. I felt like Ma always had a woman with her. A lot of the women who dance with her were her women. She had orgies with them. That was her world. I didn't want to sweep it under the rug.”

At 19, Davis was first introduced to Rainey when she took in a production of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom at the Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, R.I., with Barbara Meek in the titular role.

“Barbara Meek was the actress, for me. I just felt like she was transformative. She was great. She was all those reasons why I studied acting,” Davis says.

“What struck me is from the moment she came on the stage, [Rainey] knew her worth. I did not see a woman who had to scream for it, yell for it, whatever. She just absolutely took the space without out apology. And I loved it,” Davis says. “My heart pounded. I thought it was fantastic. That was my introduction to Ma.”

Default Emma Thompson Calls Out Double Standard of Hollywood Sex Scenes: ‘We’ve Got to Keep Being Brave’

Emma Thompson was characteristically frank about Hollywood’s double standard during a recent interview with the CultureBlast podcast. The “Nanny McPhee” star, who is also a prolific screenwriter, was talking about her upcoming film “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande,” which she said is a refreshing change of pace from the the typical Hollywood film about women who have romances with men decades older than themselves.

Directed by Sophie Hyde, “Leo Grande” is the story of a widow whose late husband had been an unsatisfying lover, so she decides to seek out a sex therapist in his early 20s.

Thompson’s character in the film says, “The only people willing to sleep with me are my age and I want to sleep with someone younger than me.” But it’s very rare for women to express that desire for a younger man onscreen, she says. “If I have someone playing opposite me in a romantic way, they have to exhume someone, because I’m 61 now,” she jokes.

“You get past 50 and you’re invisible.”

Meanwhile, she says that it’s completely acceptable for George Clooney to have an onscreen romance with someone who is 30 or 40 years younger than him. “It’s completely unbalanced,” she says.

But she holds out hope that the industry is changing. “If people aren’t averse to seeing someone who is 61 largely naked, with a very much younger person, it’s going to be very interesting. We’ve got to keep being brave.”

Post Vanessa Bryant

Vanessa Bryant responds to mom’s ‘hurtful’ lawsuit, says Kobe ‘would be so disappointed.’

Vanessa Bryant is reportedly calling a new fraud lawsuit filed by her mom “unimaginably hurtful” and says her late husband Kobe Bryant would be “so disappointed.”

The widow of the Lakers legend was sued by her mom, Sofia Laine, in a 48-page complaint filed Tuesday in Orange County Superior Court.

In the paperwork, Laine, 68, claims she deserves compensation after working for years as an unpaid personal assistant and nanny for her daughter and Kobe before the NBA superstar died in a helicopter crash in January.

She claims Kobe “promised” to take care of her for life, and she counted on that vow.

“Unfortunately, Kobe Bryant’s promises did not see the light of day as he is now deceased, and Vanessa Bryant took each and every step she could to void and cancel all of Kobe Bryant’s promises,” the lawsuit alleges.

In a statement to People.com, Vanessa said her mother is trying to “extort a financial windfall from our family.”

“I have supported her for nearly 20 years, and she was never my or Kobe’s personal assistant, nor was she a nanny,” Vanessa, 38, said.

The widow said she’s always been a stay-at-home mom, acting as full-time caregiver for her daughters Natalia, 17, Bianka, 4, Capri, 18 months and Gianna, the 13-year-old basketball prodigy who died alongside Kobe, 41, in the devastating crash.

“For nearly two decades, we arranged for my mother to live in our nearby properties, at no cost to her because she had claimed that she didn’t have any money to buy her own home after her divorce,” Vanessa said the statement.

“My husband and I felt it was best for her not to live in our home. She watched our girls from time to time, just like most grandparents do. She did not take care of business issues or expenses,” she said.

Vanessa claimed the support was provided at her request, not her husband’s.

“(Laine) now wants to back-charge me $96 per hour for supposedly working 12 hours a day for 18 years for watching her grandchildren. In reality, she only occasionally babysat my older girls when they were toddlers. As of 10 years ago, our kids were full-time students and athletes, and I didn’t have another child until 2016. Her claims are obviously false but I still tried, repeatedly, to work things out with my mother,” Vanessa said.

“Earlier this year, I was looking for a new home for her and, a week later, she went on television and gave an interview disparaging our family and making false accusations while living rent-free in a gated apartment complex in Newport Coast,” Vanessa continued. “Even after that betrayal, I was willing to provide my mother with monthly support for the rest of her life and that wasn’t good enough.”

She said her mother instead “demanded $5 million, a house and a Mercedes SUV.”

“Because I did not give in to her hurtful threats and monetary requests, she has spiraled out of control and is making false and absurd claims,” she said, calling the lawsuit “disgraceful and unimaginably hurtful.”

“My husband never promised my mother anything,” Vanessa said, “and he would be so disappointed in her behavior and lack of empathy.”

Twice a year, Enty, an entertainment blogger reveals a number of blind items that he's posted throughout the year on his celebrity blog. He makes these reveals on New Years day (today) and July 4th. He makes reveals daily throughout the year, but he saves a bunch for today and July 4.

He starts at 9am and adds a reveal to a blind item every 15 minutes or so on his blog.

The blinds are on old and new celebrities and are mostly about people in the entertainment industry with some political blind items sprinkled in. I like reading the "old Hollywood" blind items.

Here's a link if you're interested.

The 34-year-old pariah – who was famously investigated but cleared of murdering her daughter Caylee – has filed paperwork for a new company named Case Research & Consulting Services.

For the past several years Anthony has been learning the ropes from Patrick J. McKenna, 72, a veteran private detective who she has lived with in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Anthony was convicted of felony charges of lying to authorities over her daughter’s June 2008 death which disqualifies her from ever holding a private investigator license in the state of Florida.

She can’t access sensitive personal data such as social security numbers and license plates - but there is nothing to stop her searching public records, looking up criminal backgrounds or carrying out surveillance.

Anthony was convicted of felony charges of lying to authorities over her daughter’s June 2008
death which disqualifies her from ever holding a private investigator license in the state of Florida.

DailyMail.com revealed four years ago that Anthony had set up a now-shuttered photography business in what was the first step towards her new ‘career’.

We also captured exclusive images of her out and about with McKenna, who appeared to be coaching her on how to take surveillance pictures of buildings.

The twice-divorced PI was lead investigator on Anthony’s defense team and is even more famous for unearthing the racist police tape that wrecked the prosecution of OJ Simpson.

His resume boasts other well-known clients including Yoko Ono, the IRA, philanthropist-turned killer John E. du Pont and Gary Giordano, the last person to see missing Robyn Gardner alive in Aruba.

McKenna has never commented on the nature of their relationship with Anthony but documents list his $1.25m, two-bed home as the headquarters of Case Research & Consulting Services.

Anthony is registered as the business’s sole agent and the venture is set to start trading on January 1, according to the papers filed with the Florida Division of Corporations on December 14.

Anthony’s interest in photography first emerged during her trial when a psychological assessment listed it as one of her childhood hobbies.

She is said to have taken numerous portraits of two-year-old Caylee, whose skeletal remains were found in woodland five months after she disappeared in 2008.

Prosecutors accused Anthony of suffocating the toddler with duct tape and dumping her body but a jury cleared her of first degree murder.

'Make sure you get my good side. I'm working here,' she joked back in 2016,
before trying to turn the tables on our photographer by taking pictures of him from
her car with her Canon EOS Rebel T5, which is fitted with an 18-55mm zoom lens.

Anthony immediately went into hiding but was forced to surface for a March 2013 bankruptcy hearing where it was revealed she owed her former attorney Jose Baez nearly $1 million in legal fees.

Rumors of a supposed tell-all TV interview never materialised but a spate of reports and alleged sightings eventually linked Anthony to West Palm Beach, where DailyMail.com took photos of her going for a run close to McKenna's property.

In recent years Anthony has abandoned any attempt to stay in the shadows, frequenting local bars, going on dates and sparring with her critics on Facebook, where she lists herself as a ‘news personality.’

Recent posts included a festive tribute to Caylee featuring a photo of her dead daughter in a Santa hat, captioned: ‘Merry Christmas in Heaven my beautiful Cays.’

Other posts take aim at the ‘vulture paparazzi’ and her numerous detractors: ‘No f**ks given.’

Anthony became a household name in the summer of 2008 when Caylee, who was about to turn three, was reported missing by her grandmother.

Recent posts included a festive tribute to Caylee featuring a photo of her dead daughter
in a Santa hat, captioned: ‘Merry Christmas in Heaven my beautiful Cays' (pictured).

Caylee's skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area near Casey's house in
December 2008 after a meter reader alerted authorities. It took more than two years
to bring the case to trial as Anthony remained in jail. She faced the death penalty.

Anthony, however, was found guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing
false information to law enforcement for her refusal to help police find Caylee.

For four harrowing months, authorities and volunteers searched the Orlando area for Caylee.

In time, a cadaver dog picked up the little girl's scent in the trunk of Anthony's car. And, despite authorities not recovering a body, a grand jury indicted Anthony on capital murder and other charges.

Caylee's skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area near Casey's house in December 2008 after a meter reader alerted authorities.

It took more than two years to bring the case to trial as Anthony remained in jail. She faced the death penalty.

The circus-like trial was broadcast live on national networks. Prosecutors portrayed Anthony as a party girl who preferred getting drunk and high over taking care of her child. They also established she lied to authorities during the search for the toddler.

But in the end, in July 2011, a jury of seven women and five men deliberated for 10 hours and 40 minutes before handing down a verdict of not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child.

Anthony, however, was found guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to law enforcement for her refusal to help police find Caylee.

Post Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez Emailed Sheryl Sandberg Months Before The Capitol Siege to Highlight US Militia Group Activity on Facebook.

* Selena Gomez told Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg in September about militia groups on the site.

* The star told AP this week that, in the wake of the Capitol riots, she was frustrated tech platforms failed to heed warnings.

* "Facebook continues to allow dangerous lies about vaccines and COVID and the US election..." she said.

Selena Gomez emailed Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg in September 2020 to warn of US militia groups operating on the social network despite a ban.

The actress and singer this week shared those emails with the AP, expressing frustration in an interview that tech platforms did not do enough to crack down on extremist speech ahead of the US Capitol riots.

She told the AP: "It isn't about me versus you, one political party versus another. This is about truth versus lies and Facebook, Instagram and big tech companies have to stop allowing lies to just flow and pretend to be the truth.

"Facebook continues to allow dangerous lies about vaccines and COVID and the US election, and neo-Nazi groups are selling racist products via Instagram."

According to the AP, Gomez wrote in her September email to Sandberg: "[A] search for a militia group 'Three Percenters' results in dozens of pages, groups and videos focused on people hoping and preparing for civil war, and there are dozens of groups titled 'white lives matter' that are full of hate and lies that might lead to people being hurt or, even worse, killed."

Insider previously reported that the Three Percenters formed in 2008, per the Anti-Defamation League. Its name stems from the myth that only 3% of colonists fought during the Revolutionary War. The group's members see themselves as modern-day incarnations of those revolutionaries.

Gomez's email came despite Facebook banning or restricting militia groups in August.

The actress also took Sandberg, who oversees Facebook's ad business, to task over lies in ads. The firm does not fact-check lies in political ads.

"I can't believe you can't check ads before you take money, and if you can't you shouldn't be profiting from it," she wrote. "You're not just doing nothing. You're cashing in from evil."

AP said Sandberg responded by pointing to the fact Facebook had removed millions of posts for hate speech and had removed divisive ads.

Facebook has been on the defensive after the US Capitol riots on January 6, which saw pro-Trump rioters storm the building and which left five dead. The rioters had planned their activities openly on social media for weeks, on Facebook as well as other platforms.

Sandberg publicly claimed this week the riots had largely been planned off Facebook, saying: "These events were largely organized on platforms that don't have our abilities to stop hate, and don't have our standards, and don't have our transparency."

Default A good reason to avoid group texts...

The fallout from the worst-timed vacation of the year continues, and Heidi Cruz, the wife of Senator Ted Cruz, is “pretty p***ed” at whoever leaked her text messages planning their infamous trip to Cancun while millions of Texans suffered without power or water.

In an appearance on conservative podcast Ruthless, the Texas senator was asked if the couple knew the identity of the individual on his wife’s text group who had betrayed them to the media.

“Yeah, I will say Heidi’s pretty pissed about that, she was actually over at a neighbour’s house yesterday, walking it through,” said Mr Cruz.

Ms Cruz’s texts were first reported in local media outlet Reform Austin and confirmed by others on the text chain.
