You can make a Peruvian style hat by adding ear-flaps, it is really easy to do without pattern, particularly in crochet!

I'm bummed, was trying to crochet myself a wool hat, used a tight stitch and flared up my carpal tunnel pretty badly. Still waiting for the flare-up to die down so I can go back to crocheting doilies--guess I'll buy a hat! *rueful look*

Right now I'm working on 2 pairs of socks: the first pair were supposed to be a Christmas present, the 2nd pair were going to be a birthday present (my sister saw the colour and immediately wanted them).
The 1st pair suffered from "second sock syndrome" - I just couldn't face working on another sock with all those tiny stitches and the heel turn which never looks good. So I didn't start it until after the new year. And I made the mistake of watching football - which meant I made a stupid mistake and had to rip out a lot of work!
The pair I started last night is with a different wool - - so I'm hoping I'll get more done before I get tired of it!

I tried to do knitting once... I nearly stabbed myself in the forehead with the needle...

Only easy afghans and scarves will give me any relaxation!

I wish the socks and hats came easy to me, but they dont

Have you tried doing them both at once? For me it's the ONLY way. All my socks are done two at once toe up using Judy's Magic Cast On with a super easy, no wrap fleegle heel.

I have heard of this, but haven't tried it yet.

Am in the process of knitting my first pair of socks and am finding that it is much easier than I thought it would be. The first sock is almost done. I didn't think I would like the DPN and the small stitches but I am finding it very relaxing.
I am also working on a sweater for a friend.

anyway thanks for sharing the link!

Nightshade - thanks for the links. It looks interesting but I think I'll stick with the usual way for now. I get stressed out enough as it is - I can't imagine trying to do 2 at a time!
but I am sure I will try it at sometime in the future!

amiyesiam - I've done a few pairs but still not totally comfortable. Maybe it is because I am a self-taught knitter? A lot of stuff is trial and error - - but YouTube has been a big help!

lipstixgal - I find crochet difficult. I can never remember where the heck the hook goes on a double or treble crochet.

The socks I started last night are coming along nicely - - it is cuff down. I'm done the cuff so it is pretty easy for now - - at least I'll be able to watch football and not worry about stupid mistakes!

Really you find crocheting difficult maybe I have been doing it for some time now so its not that hard for me. I did try knitting though and found it very difficult so maybe I need to try it again with bigger size needles and more practice...

My sister crochets. She doesn't like knitting - but she will do it. She knitted up a bunch of scarves to give as Christmas presents.
I like knitting - I started on scarves, tried to make some kids sweaters. I want to do some more socks but then I think I'll attempt lace. If it works out then I might attempt the socks that Nightshade suggested.
