Bumping an old-ish thread, but have any of you been to Sparta, Ontario? I am researching my roots, and found that several ancestors are buried in the Friends (Quaker) cemetery there. My g-g grandfather surely had a hand in building the Quaker meeting hall in the 1860's. I suspect that if I went there, I'd find my kin. In fact, I'll probably have to come up at some point for research

I don't believe there has ever been a Canadian gathering, however those in the GTA I do believe use to get together.

Well I think we should put it out there and see how many folks really would be interested in a Canadian gathering. I think the location would likely be in Ontario as it is central, but I think the "invite or show of interest has to go on the most visited Canadian thread. That seems to be the Canadian news thread? Lake Simcoe is great, my ex had a cottage up there and we went every summer. Great spot and great corn!
I am about 40mins from T.O, do you ever make it to the city?
Yes, I was really surprised there is not more activity on this thread. Guess we will just have to keep bumping it...lol

We do get back to Toronto on a (somewhat) semi-regular basis. Lately it's just been for appointments, errands or the yearly escapades known as Pride & the Dyke March

I do miss however, good take out & ethnic food. I cannot get a falafel to save my life up here!

Depends on the work situation - - if I'm working that weekend I can make it to pre-march/parade stuff. If I'm not working I can't afford the trip up that way.

Hello there, a couple of us had been talking about having a BFP get together in the Niagara region so some of the US folks could attend as well if they wished too. I'm going to be talking to some at Reunion to see if there is much interest, if not, then the Canadian crew can talk and figure it out.
