I'm so very sorry. I've been there. It's so hard, even when you know it's what is right. I'll be thinking of you.

CDoodles>>>..it is because of that love for him that you were able to make that decision. It is a very easy, peaceful transition and with you holding him, he was able to go on to the Rainbow Bridge..where he is whole, running free, and he will wait there for you til you go up, too!

You are in my thoughts my friend!! Hugs you....

I went shopping today and saw one of those people who stand by the roadside waving a huge sign, to make ppl come in and buy whatever the business sells. I felt bad for them because its such a thankless job and its probably not a well paid job. I couldnt help but think of all the ppl who struggle just to earn a living, myself included. I didnt see them out there on my way back home, but i did see a homeless vet by the freeway exit. I gave him some money $$ and a bottle of water i had in the car console. Everytime i see somebody like either of them, i always think of my two sons. Life can be so unfair, and hard.

I would just like to thank all of my friends here for their thoughts, prayers, healing energy and light following my now 9th total knee revision replacement surgery. I am now 6 days post op and things have been going extremely well, so far.

I am up and getting around with my walker really well. My dressing is of the "waterproof" variety, so I've been able to shower on my own. I also can get up and down on my own, or with just a little assistance. I'm able to even fix myself a tasty bagel or a good sandwich and carry it back to my recliner. In short.....I got this!!!! 👍🏻

So, once again, THANK YOU!!!

July 1... Canada Day!

I'm going to go out and wave a few Canadian flags, watch teenagers run around with large flags draped over their shoulders, sing a few heartfelt bars of "Oh Canada", and eat some Canadian bacon on a bun.
Then I'll go home, put my flags away and wait for next year. It's the Canadian way...lol

I'm not normally a cranky person but I'm feeling cranky. There are a few people at work not doing what they need to do and it's trickling down to what I need to be doing and it's making me get behind.

And a lot of the residents are super cranky and lashing out at me about whatever is going on for them.

And it's really hot in here. No air conditioning but I have a fan but also my phone sucks and a lot of people calling in have bad phones or talk really quietly so I have to keep turning off my fan to eliminate the noise to get a better shot at hearing what they are saying on the phone.

I'm very glad we have Thursday off.

I found a recipe for vegan cornbread. I will simply leave out the sugar.

I hate sweet cornbread! Why not just crumble yellow cake over a plate of greens?

YES! I get so annoyed when I bite into cornbread and it's sweet. Now I just take a pinch to test it before committing. When I make it I like to add in a little garlic and cumin.

Sorry, I am a dissenting vote. Even though my location is temporarily listed in NY, and Chicago is my adopted hometown with an Indianapolis birthtown, I am from strong Southern roots.

The cornbread I prefer is sweet. Yes, Johnny Cakes are good, but you're right, they are sweet and don't belong with my red beans or black-eye peas.

I love a red bean stew poured over not-sweet cornbread....

My daughter used to love Johnny Cakes for breakfast with a little honey on them. I should remind her of that.

I love cornbread of both types, unsweet and sweet, but definitely only unsweet with greens or peas/beans.

However . . .

I admit I love

Now they also make a vegetarian corn muffin mix. The only difference is the regular mix has lard in it and the vegetarian version uses vegetable shortening. When I was a girl I'd make a box of jiffy cornbread mix up and think I was quite the cook. Sometimes I'd double the recipe, use two boxes, and then I fancied myself quite the chef.

Me too, me too! My Mom bought me the Jiffy cake mixes to use in my E-Z Bake Oven! (I had the 1960s turquoise model.) I would serve tiny slices to my family for dessert. (Fortunately only a family of four.)
