I really love old school music. The music I listened to when I came out and was out and about takes me back to a time in my life when I was carefree, beautiful, loved, sexy and confident. This was (for me) a time in my life when everything was in reach and there for the taking...(lol). While I still feel this way most days(!) It has been a minute...Please don't judge me as I'm considerably older than that time of my life...but I am enjoying the revisit.

I heard this on Spotify yesterday and it transports me to myself at 24. I'd just started my one and only long term relationship (16yrs). I felt gorgeous, sexy, loved, confident and on top of the world! Same year I started the radio gig...more on that another time...lol

A few years later, still in my early thirties, I was introduced to Goth, and whilst I'm not sure I have one particular favourite song of that type, this one is certainly one that I love a lot as it has the emotion and energy that a lot of the better 'up' Goth songs did. Linda Shear was one of the most prominent Lesbian Feminist musicians in the seventies. She performed in the first Out-Lesbian concert in the U.S.

This is a very special song to me because during a private jam session with Linda (being a musician then), I composed and played a similar melody for her on her piano in Chicago. Somehow, she wove it into this beautiful coming out song.
