I convinced my sister to join me on a "short, easy walk". Well, it turned into a 2.5 mile hike! We both love the woods; she is less willing to go hiking by herself. We also went looking for a geocache. (it's apparently missing, sadly)
My sister and I BOTH need to get healthier and it made me very happy when we finished and she said "next time lets do the other path". It was like pulling teeth just to get her to go in the first place! I'm hoping she'll join me in my journey of finding gooder health <3

Anyone have any opinions about the Pound workout? The gym I'm joining has it and I'm curious about it......

It looks like fun, as long as no one gets poked in the eye with one of the drumsticks.

I got back to my C25K after...I think a week absence. I took a spill down the outside stairs and was sore for days. It felt very good to be back at it.
Today I have to ready my garden for my veggie seedlings that I started. That should count as a workout too!

1hr EASY run this am on paved road...a bit cool, but warmed up fast enough...Well, time for a second pair of running shoes...again, the Hokos I truly dislike...am returning those and getting another pair of NB. Thinking about the 45,000 - 50,000 people who will be running the marathon in Nov 2019 and gearing myself up for all the stimulation ...I'm excited and biting at the bit to get going...nervous not so much it's excitement I've decided.....Anyway, it will be great seeing my City with all it's people from around the world in it's neighborhoods...damn I Love NY...as an introvert will take a vacation after the marathon...a silent retreat sounds good after the run in my hometown...smiling. So, tomorrow weight day...late...after seeing the last of my clients...will be good. I'm rambling now so have a good week exercisers as nycfem says...smiling. keep on keepin' on as I say, Greco

Today, Sunday, I did 35 minutes on the stairmaster. My pattern was:
Levels 8 down to 1, 2 min per level x 1 set, then 1 min per level x 1 set, then 30 seconds per level x 1 set, then 15 seconds per level x 1 set, then cool down on level 1. This pattern is so perfect that it gave me great pleasure . I see on this thread that it looks like I haven't exercised since last Monday. Oh, that's not ideal. I do recall becoming progressively tired during the week due to going to bed too late. Somehow I need to interrupt this pattern, but I have not figured out how to yet. I know one thing that gets in the way is eating dinner too late. Like today. I just finished dinner at 8 p.m. Too late! I ran into Judith in the gym cafe. She had ordered Chinese food. We chatted. Then I ran into her again in the locker room. She was topless reading the New York Times. We chatted again. I love how predictable life is sometimes. I saw Taylor on an elliptical. She loves the elliptical. I didn't say anything to her because I was already at the gym late. As I left Judith said, "Leaving so soon?" That's a line Judith says a lot at the gym, because she closes the gym like it's a bar. I hope I have better luck this week. Actually I just looked at my calendar last week, and I had to take my cat to the vet on Tuesday, and I had a meeting on Thursday night, so I also had some stuff going on. I still hope I have better luck this week. Nice to be back, exercisers!

Today was *almost* the day I had an epic, calamitous treadmill fail.
The television screen mounted on the wall in front of my treadmill was on an endless infomercial loop - after the 5th cycle of the same terrible advert - I decided to grab the remote, one treadmill over, to change the channel. Simple enough. But as I grabbed the remote my right foot got stuck on the still part of the treadmill leaving my left foot to run solo — which generally speaking doesn't work so well. Laws of gravity and all that. Luckily for me, my body intervened (independent of my brain) prioritizing being upright and whole-boned, over visually bored. The remote dropped to the treadmill and flew off the back end. The infomercial looped for the duration of my workout. And I live to walk/run another day. Another reminder that there are a few activities one should do sans multi-tasking ..simultaneous use of electric tooth brush and hair drier is another. that one never ends well either...

I walked a lot added up running errands today on foot and I carried groceries up three flights of stairs as well. My diabetes nurse educator said to aim for starting with five minutes of exercise a day. I have been having SUCH a hard time with regular exercise but five minutes I think I can institute. I more than hit my goal today.
Happy exercising my inspirations! |

Meh.
I’ve been off my game due to 1) starting a new job 2) being knocked asunder by an epic stomach bug. My C25K app is being SO adorable with its reminders I have been working and cleaning and walking dogs and doing stairs and what not. And because I can’t eat I’ve lost over 5 pounds in a week. Not the way I wanted to do it exactly. I feel weak as a kitten and I’m probably dehydrated so when the app pipes off I find myself saying choice words to it. If I’m not better by Sunday I’m seeing s doctor. That’ll make it an even week. I sure miss my kettle bells and Odessa (my new pittie) misses the running in the woods. I’m disappointed for sure. It seems like it’s one thing or another.

My work still hasn't repaired either of our broken golf carts so I'm still getting tons of walking in as my property is roughly 2 acres and I'm constantly going in and out all day. I don't have pedometer but maybe I should get one and see just how much walking I'm getting.
Side note: I saw that the 10,000 steps a day thing didn't come from health folks at all but from advertisers trying to sell their pedometers. We can reap the same health benefits from half that distance. |

Just finished digging a 2 ft deep hole. Had to come in and eat a sandwich with soy milk.
I have to sit on the ground and dig because I will not do anything to compromise my back. It takes sooooo long to dig just one hole but that is okay. Going back outside now. I already put some pebbles in the hole before I came in to eat. Now I will drop the 10 ft long 4x4 in the hole, pour in the concrete and water, level it ... then I can check one more fence post off my list. YAY!! |

Went for a long walk around the property today, and discovered that there are other fields nearby, so I had an extended walk that lasted about an hour (this morning).
Yesterday, I found a great place to wash and dry my laundry. It went into business back in 1961 and it's just a cute and clean as can be. The person who takes care of the washeteria is a local lesbian of Butch persuasion; she's in her 70s. As it turned out, several other lesbian's were there doing their laundry too and so I made a few new friends yesterday. It's located near a local city park, so I went on walks in-between loads of laundry washing and drying.... Nice way to incorporate walking activities into my daily life. ~K.

Friday night I walked a lot to and from destinations while I was out downtown. Yesterday no real exercise, but I plan on doing a workout video today. I'm writing it here to hold myself accountable.

I have not exercised since last Sunday (so frustrating), but I did exercise today (Sunday). Why Sunday? Because I had a chance to catch up on sleep a bit.
I went to the gym and someone was on my favorite stairmaster, and the second favorite is out of order. So I had to use the Stairclimber. I actually did much better than usual on it. Sometimes I feel like I'm on a mechanical bull, but maybe I've just gotten the hang of it. I still find it uncomfortable but I was able to manage it much better. My pattern was: 5 minutes x Level 7, and then 5 minutes x Level 6, and on down to 1. I continued with "1" after the last five minutes because my heart rate was still up, so I could stay at Level 1. In total: 45 minutes. It was a good work-out. I have only three more weeks of school. I get out on the last Friday of June. My sleep was particularly atrocious this past week. And tonight I finished eating dinner at 9:15 p.m. (way too late!). I am most definitely still a work in progress!

Today, Monday (well, I'm a few minutes past Monday as I write this- but you get the idea), I did 35 minutes on my favorite stairmaster with the beautiful pattern:
Levels 8 down to 1, 2 min each level x 1 set, 1 min each level x 1 set, 30 seconds each level x 1 set, 15 seconds each level x 1 set, Level 1 cooldown I saw La La yesterday and today but we just exchanged a hello. Both days I saw her walking on the treadmill. I do the stairmaster across from her. I had a nice talk with Hillary. She's growing on me. She has been going to her same trainer 3 x wk for 7 years, and that's only a small part of what she does. She always looks so tired and determined. I admire her for not disappearing when she is tired like I do. She is so determined no matter how hard life is and it quietly inspires me.
