I am putting almond butter on a banana. I've never really found a good way to do this.

I'd put the almond butter in a little dish and dip the banana.

You know, I tried that. It just seemed like it would be more esthetically pleasing? But the almond butter is ground while you wait and it comes out pretty thick. I can't get the banana to pick it up. :(

But thank you for the suggestion because I am always looking for a way to improve the experience.

I smile today because of forum thread conversations centering around a very complicated subject (empathy) that is not an easy discussion to have at a micro- level, much less at a macro- level. I guess my thoughts about that are complicated too in that human health issues are a commodity (people earn a living via this organizational model). We do need ways of earning a living and when my hair is dry, that's exactly what my plan is today: Return to potential employers or happen to come across a potential employer today and nail that job down (illusive as it has been, over the past three weeks). I take heart though in that I did need a reprieve from my former job. I woke up to beautiful fall-like weather and quietness in the neighborhood, which feels good this morning. I am now off (after a few card games in the arcade, I'm still waking up) to have a very productive day....

Yesterday was rather long but I did manage to beat a deadline and now trust that if the job I applied for is the one for me, then I will be very happy to assume a new role in my work life. Well, I take that back: I like the good medicine of kindness, gratitude, the feeling of a genuine hug that leaves you feeling stronger, and kindness.... Kindness, really does make ones' world feel better.

Was so nervous and anxious about my appointment this morning! Haven't been to the dentist since 2008 I think. I had three fillings - no root canal necessary thank goodness. The dentist was good - good technology, clean, his English was good, not out to rip me off. :D

Feels like forever since I was last in Kuala Lumpur. And I haven't seen my ex since ...? April at least. It's been ok. Staying at her place tonight and will be ok - as long as she doesn't try to kiss me. She was pissed off at me this afternoon for texting and "not talking to her". :sunglass::blink: Oh the delicious irony of that statement!

I bought a new battery for my camera and a new card reader. Wanted to buy a new teeshirt but gave up - the cheap ones are made of nasty thin fabric and I didn't like any of the more expensive teeshirts/tops.

I often find clothes shopping stressful. I'm either not fat enough or too fat. Can't win. :seeingstars: But my ex introduced me to her ex-boss who works in a women's boutique and do made-to-order. So maybe there is a perfect dress out there that doesn't make me look like a sack of spuds.

I've quite enjoyed being in Bukit Bintang - a little bit of familiarity when I'm always a stranger.

Wow, I so need to check into my hotel and have a shower and a nap. Really hope I don't have any problems checking in since I forgot to bring the booking confirmation with me. :blink:

The traffic here is so quiet and civilised. It's lovely after the madness of Malaysia. Glorious temples and monks in bright orange robes. The traditional architecture is lovely. Folks are nice - although getting the tourist visa was fun. It was ok, not a :| moment, but really, three people to take some money, print out a visa and glue it into my passport? People have to have jobs I suppose.

A hectic day that actually started at 7pm Mon night. Had a surprise sleep study but finally got it over and over course woke up with a migraine at 6am when I am usually going to bed but hey I got to wake the doc up at 6am too so there are benefits to being in the office when one strikes. Did not make it home till around 2pm though uggg city transportation is less then desirable on a good day. Received a surprised pm here that lifted My spirits so that was nice and actually cooked Myself a wonderful dinner. Stuck foot in mouth when trying to be diplomatic with a dear friend, truly need to learn to just be Me and not worry about hurting someone I succeed much better when I do that. Another busy day ahead but its all good in the end.

<<~ I have been in the kitchen, for the most part, today. I am making a batch of Garlic-Rosemary bread: 2 loaves, a pan of rolls and breadsticks out of the left over dough.

I also am making a soup for tonight. It takes all day to make it. What I do is take fresh, organic vegetables (carrots, celery, onion, tomatoes) and take half of my supply and make juice out of them for a soup base. Then I take the other half of the supply and slice them up, as well as adding Crimini mushrooms and ginger root and beets and slice them up too. I simmer the vegetables in the juice until they become very tender. Then I turn the heat down on low and add shredded roast pork and cilantro and a few leaves of basil and a small chile pepper to the soup base and let it simmer on the lowest setting possible for about 3-4 hours. About an hour before supper, I add a handful or two of cous cous to it.

So, this is what my son and I are having for supper tonight: homemade soup and bread. :)

Oh dear Maude, she's SIX and already has an older girl (baby femme?!?) thinking she's hot. I explained that six year olds can't be hot, only teenagers, but this was largely just rambling in order to keep from howling with crazy laughter in the restaurant.

But somewhere between then and now, I began to have this dream that turned into a nightmare of sorts. It all started with that "deserted island" post I made earlier with three things we wished we could have if some package came floating our way. I became terribly distressed when it wasn't a floating package with books, music or a movie to watch, but rather a boat with a flimsy set of directions, no binoculars and just one oar with a mysterious haiku type message scratched onto it, begging me to come over to some nearby island. Needless to say, I must have been thrashing in my sleep which caused to me to come awake, because I was lost at sea and began panic!

<<~ It's a chilly day here today and I'm waiting on a batch of bread to rise, so I can bake it off later this afternoon.

Right now, though, I'm actually roasting some vegetables (brussel sprouts, carrots and parsnips with almonds): I wash them up and dry them off and then I dress them lightly in a rosemaried Olive Oil and sea salt and they're roasting in the oven @ 425 degrees. Can hardly wait to eat them (especially the fresh baked bread).

I have come out of hiding. I am back at the home base for few days break from Mama. I am ready for Winter Storm Athena and gonna have a few drinks with my best gay boyfriend. Maybe we will go get some Thai curry, too.

<<~ I'm making a delicious soup tonight for supper: a Potato Ginger soup.

I carmelize some sweet onions, celery and finely chopped portions of ginger root first; then I add potatos (baby reds) that I have cut in half and let them braize a bit in the carmelized mixture.... then I add about a quart or two of water and let the potatos cook until they are tender; which by that time, I make a roux of milk, heavy cream and rice flour (I shake it up in a glass jar so it's smooth and creamy) and add it to the soup base. I season the soup with bit of sea salt, cracked pepper and a bit of garlic powder and let it simmer into a very thick soup.

I'm also baking some bread rolls (oversized) to go with our soup for supper tonight (garlic & rosemary with shredded mozarella cheeze). I always like how bread and soup makes the house smell so warm and comfy. :stillheart:

<<~~ I'm making Bread (Cinnamon Rolls), and soup:

I'm making a Broccoli, Kale, Leek, Cheddar cheese soup today.

I start with sauteeing leeks in butter, until their carmelized a bit; then I add freshly chopped kale and small buds of broccoli and about a quart or two of spring water and let it come to a gentle rolling boil. Then I make a roux of cream, rice flour and pinch or two or sea salt and cracked pepper (I shake it up in a glass jar, until it's creamy smooth), and add it to the water based vegetable broth. After I do that, I turn the heat down to a simmering level of heat and let the soup meld for about an hour or so. When I get ready to serve it, I sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of each serving. (That's what my son and I are having for lunch today).

For supper: The Cinnamon Rolls should be done by then.
