Attended a beautiful musical program at the Beach Pavilion looking out over the Gulf of Mexico late today. Our church performed "Alleluias by the Sea." Once every four years the choir and orchestra present a compilation of broadway hits, patriotic songs, and spiritual music. The brown pelicans were swoopping above the crowd of about 600 people and the seagulls challenged their own voices with that of the choir. As the sun set on the horizon, the choir sang an old hymn, "How Great Thou Art." As I glanced over to look at my mother the sun had lowered to almost twilight...I thought...here is my beloved mother in her own twilight years...and she is still in this realm - at my side - loving me unconditionally. Yes, How Great Thou Art.

(they can't get these treats where they live without importing them and things being less than fresh...)

my only regret is: not being able to take fresh HOME GROWN tomatoes...those were Momma's first and favorite request. ... my heart melted when she asked me ..."do you have any maters? This is the first year ever that I haven't been able to grow maters."

- i enjoy reaching out to people, even when they least expect it..
A few instances today, a woman i work with who picks on me often hasn't been feeling well.. i reached out to her today, wondering how she was feeling and offering to go to her appt with her tomorrow if she had no one to go with.. i feel for her, i really do... She confided in me today, asking me not to say anything to anyone at work (and i won't).. But she was touched that i reached out to her, & it always feels good to overlook that negative stuff and be a positive in a situation.. Regardless of how she took it, i would have felt good about having done so..

- Also, a young man sitting on the ground outside of the store today.. When i walked out, he was shivering, and indeed it was a very cold -30 celsius with the windchill today.. He asked for change, and i handed him some money knowing i could cut back on what i intended to buy in the next store i had to go into.. i watched him get up and run to buy a hot drink.. i know many people feel hesitant in handing out money like that - but for me, it felt good to do & wished i could do more..

- Lastly, i finished gathering all our clothes together to drop off at St Vincent de Paul which will open their doors and give this clothing free to women in need of it.. This does my heart much good..

So, i enjoy reaching out, helping when i can & paying it forward...
my heart is smiling - and now i'm seeking more ways to do so..

Walking in the forest. The weather has been really good lately. I live a block from the ravine. It has Kms of trails and they are not used very often in the winter. I enjoy wearing my banged up old comfy boots and hiking through the trees looking for signs of deer, fox, coyotes and whatever other tracks I can find. I love going where there are no human tracks.

CAMPING :D ... And it was a beautiful weekend for some outdoors time. Took a short hike with some friends and our dogs. Spent too much time in the sun without a hat. LOL. Managed some lovely camping cuisine with my trusty griddle: Pancakes (and chocolate chip pancakes) for breakfast. And fajitas for dinner. Good times :) And generally enjoyed some zen time under a crystal blue sky with wonderful mid-70s temps.

Waking on a Sunday morning and taking a walk along the riverfront with a coffee in hand. Sitting on the benches with music in my ears and taking in the fresh air while the birds do their thing. Every now and then there's that golden opportunity to see an eagle fishing for breakfast.

Yeh, that's what I enjoy but not today. It's too cold for this... maybe in a couple more weeks.

I enjoy my farmhouse with such expansive, peaceful space and the sense of "It's Mine" that I get every time I drive up the lane.

Writing with fountain pens. In the past couple of days I have been gifted a rather lovely, rather old, Papermate fp with a F nib that writes like a dream - Papermate don't make fps anymore. Today I managed to pick up a Lamy Nexx (pink) for less than I can get it on the internet, with a M nib. Although the nib is too thick for my preference it is easily changed for a F or EF. I shall also purchase the converter for it so that I can used bottled inks too. I've missed writing with fps so much.
