Right now, sleep would give me peace.

I'll revisit this thread much later, when I'm more alert and give my view(s).

What brings me peace every single day is this little fellow. I adore him more than words could ever express. He takes good care of his Daddy ;)

He is a long hair chihuahua and his name is Murray Oliver

My pug Vinnie. He is the calmest, sweetest boy. Not so much the boxer puppy, until she is sweetly sleeping next to me.

Building something or fixing something.

Certain songs.

Sitting by a river, near a campfire, or laying in my camper at night.

A hug from my mom.

Looking at pictures of good times spent with friends...I can just feel the love when I relive those moments in my mind.

A good workout is a great way for me to shake off the blahs. Spin class lets me zone out.

But the best thing is the world is being with my dogs.

My favorite is when I'm not feeling so great and I'm laying in the bed watching tv, Cooper will crawl up and lay on my belly with his little face resting on my chest. He just lays there and looks at me and falls asleep.

Magoo is a big snuggler and he actually likes to spoon!

I love how sweet and intuitive my little pooches are.

Drown my stress with music....

Get to water...which lately is just a hot epsom salt bath...but usually a lake or river is nice to let your stress, worries, and problems drift from you even for just that moment

Do something with my hands....bowl, toss my rifle or sabre, paint...

Or go for a drive...

Graphics... Creating something pretty, at times I can lose myself in it for hours. I created the one in my signature line, but it's not one of my best, just one that would fit well.. lol

*edit for clarification* I do not draw the women, I just put them all together add some special effects, etc... In the one in my sig line, the woman on the left side was drawn just for me by the artist Ismael Rac. It's for sale in the site where he sells his graphics for public use, but I got to commission her for being member of the month at his forum. The full one is so cool, she's in leather corset, panties, garter, and has stockings, and she's holding a riding crop. He made a separate version that is only mine, that no one else can even buy where she has red streaks in her hair, and has leather studded collar and bracelets.

The thought of a small white cottage with lacy curtains blowing in the wind....all white inside and out, with sky blue ceilings and a porch swing......a place to write.....and it sits on a cliff, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.....

I don't know if such a place exists....but the thought of it gives me peace just the same.

I was having a bad day yesterday. I recently had a procedure that has had me trapped in the house for the past week.... I felt like I was going to bust outta my skin yesterday. Sooooo, I had someone come pick me up and take me to their place for a while. Sometimes just doing something entirely different helps me a LOT. Other times, complete silence is my soothing medicine. I can sit in silence all by myself for a good long time and come out of it greatly calmed down and with a new attitude. Then of course there's always critter love. Who can stay in a funk with fur babies lovin on them? I know I can't :)

After reading all of the replies, I can identify with most of them !

I love classical music, and that in an otherwise quiet house, is cathartic for me. Dont know why, but it is.

I love a trail run, especially if its misty or sprinkling outside. I find my stride and let the zen of an easy rhythm just take over.

I love watching a sunset on Puget Sound. The Ferry's traveling across the bay and the seagulls finding their places for the night is calming.

But the MOST wonderful way to peace and groundedness is the end of a day with my girlfriend. There is such calm and a feeling of protectiveness hearing her soft breath in the middle of the night. And that puts my heart at peace.

~When I write, I listen to meditation music....it's ambient....no lyrics to distract me. Very mellow and peaceful and it helps push the purple ink out of my fountain pen. <soft smile>

~A nap with my puppy gives me peace......and if my feet are cold (I hate shoes), she lays on top of them....that's love. :paw::heartbeat:

Music does, indeed, soothe the savage beast. At least the beast within me when I get riled up, am frustrated, or just feeling crappy. I pop my headphones on and jam out as I see fit in my own little world. The music I choose depends upong my mood and will also determine what I feel like after my little retreat.

If I'm angry or frustrated, Disturbed or Three Days Grace or Breaking Benjamin is good. If I am contemplative, One Republic or Daughtry or John Mayer or Rob Thomas is good. If I'm just kind of rowdy, Nickelback or Pitbull or Ciara is good. If I'm feeling sweet, Colbie Caillat or Demi Lovato or Mandy Moore is good.

These are good singers and groups that I consider my 'go to' music, but there are several acts that have produced music that can fit into different categories, such as Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Bianca Ryan, and T-SO.

What gives me peace?

Mint hot chocolate.
Candles
My living room that is so comfortable and homey
A bath
Feeding my feral cats that after 10 months are finally letting me pet them.
The look in my cats eyes when he looks at me when I pet him and sing to him.
Watching a movie with my Father.

A clean house with the dog/cat snuggled up after a long walk

Soft music getting out my journal and purging to see where I am

Coffee and meditations with the sounds of my girlfriend tinkering butch things in the background.

Waking from or going into an afternoon nap and listening her breathe, feeling her warm next to me brings a calmness from the rhythm.

Sometimes if I become unnerved by something...or someone....I have learned to just stop. I stop and turn on the music. And I let the music be my blanket. I allow myself to become immersed in it and centered by it. Music is my greatest Peace Resource.....always has been.

I admit it; I eat my emotions. So, on the days when I realllllly need some peace, I will get it from food. That first couple of bites is HEAVEN.

On a side note, did anyone know that after the first couple of bites of a new food, your taste buds begin to fade and lose some of the flavor of the food?

I have learned to step back, and refocus my energy on something other than who or what is bothering me.

*Garden
*Mow the lawn
*Smoke a cigar or two or three if need be :cigar:
*Pray
*Mediatate
*Listen to music :listening:

A traveler was walking along a beach when he saw a woman scooping up starfish off the sand and tossing them into the waves. Curious, he asked her what she was doing. The woman replied, "When the tide goes out it leaves these starfish stranded on the beach. They will dry up and die before the tide comes back in, so I am throwing them back into the sea where they can live."

The traveler then asked her, "But this beach is miles long and there are hundreds of stranded starfish, many will die before you reach them - do you really think throwing back a few starfish is really going to make a difference?"

The woman picked up a starfish and looked at it, then she threw it into the waves. "It makes a difference to this one," she said.

I haven’t felt peaceful for the last few days. I’ve felt crushed by anxiety about work, and more importantly, by several serious health issue with my dogs. I’ve been spiraling down in anxiety almost to the point of panic.

When that happens, it can be so difficult to regain your footing. So, sometimes it comes down to the most basic things for me:

*Get a good night sleep (I mean, go to bed early, and try for 8-9 hours)

*Eat a healthy meal with whole grains & veggies (when I’m stressed I crave junk food that doesn’t involve cooking, but that just causes more stress in the body, which then affects the mind)

*Write - get it out of my head and onto the page (or screen)

*Pet the dog

That’s what I did last night and this morning I woke up feeling so much better! No longer overwhelmed I was able to see what had been there all along but I was blind to it. Hope.

With my newly open eyes I stumbled in the Spirit Dancer’s Thread on Native American Spirituality this morning and that is where I found peace today. In the wisdom posted over the last few days. The words were there all along I just had to open myself up to let them in.

Beginnings, fresh and clean, Part of the Sacred Wheel
Each morning is a new opportunity,
To share our love, our Souls, and Spirits,
With those who choose to Walk this Path along with us,
To learn the lessons of the Wheel, and grow closer,
To The One Who- Created- All.
Each day is fresh and unblemished, clean and pure.
Look around, Rejoice in the New Beginning,
The Sun rises again, our hearts beat within our bodies,
We draw fresh Breath, and re-enter the World.
Set aside the pain of past days, each day begins afresh,
Build upon the past, its lessons and joys,
Be strengthened by the love within,
Reach out in love to those around us.
For each day is a gift, given but once.

Mainly, I find peace through chanting/prayer/meditative states and being silent for a few days in various spiritual locations. I am someone that has to slow myself down in order to keep my balance.

What brings me peace?

Silence. The ability to be silent and to tolerate silence seems to be becoming a lost art in our world of noise and instant access. But, to me, to sit in silence, with perhaps the expected sounds of birds chirping, the ocean roaring, the wind whistling.....is heavenly. It is a time when time stops, when I feel one with the All, when clarity in thought is unsurpassed, when joy and contentment are mine, and when I can just enjoy being.

tonight, there's a soft rain...
Taking a nap today is preventing me from sleeping now...
The rain is a gentle drizzle and so refreshing...
So I decided to walk down my long driveway to check the mailbox for my Netflix... with flashlight in hand, I was so delighted to take a slow stroll in bare feet and hear nothing but the sounds of nature and so content NOT to hear any city noises... no traffic, no trains, no obnoxious neighbors and NO fire department or police sirens!! Pennsylvania has the MOST annoying fire sirens that sound like 1940's ear piercing air raid sirens!! And for some strange reason, I always ended up living near the fire department.

Tonight... all I heard was the rain and LOTS of Spring Peepers and Bull Frogs. I could sit out hear all night... on a little hill in my Hundred Acre Wood.

it depends on what's going on for me.

Recently, I spent the weekend with two of my best friends at the beach and I was able to just be in the moment: enjoying the lull of the ocean surf, the dark stormy clouds on the horizon as the sun was nearly gone to the lone calls of birds up above and all of us giggling in merriment over things we were talking about... I need to do that more often - just get away, unplug from everything and just be with friends (or even on my own) out in nature.

talking to my exes from years ago and them telling me they are happy for me and we are working on friendships. Its so nice to grow out of resentments and lay down sorrows and just enjoy people for who they are and not what pasts you shared. Something made us couple together. Its that part of us that we now share, except not romantically

A plethora of responses came to mind when reading the question, but I'll post the first one, which was a visual that momentarily took me away from this keyboard....

Straddling my sport bike (aka "crotch rocket"), wearing a full-faced helmet with full riding gear covering every inch of my body (meaning I'm privately passing through the world and those around me without a single regard to gender, race, age, identifying demographics, etc., etc... all people know is that I'm a human being, which is how I wish to be seen!), hauling down an open road. I feel the temperature changes and smell the cow crap and feel like I'm *in* the world, rather than an on-looker, and my mind finds a peaceful cadence with the jet-like engine between my legs. Yeah, I know, sheer terror for some is utterly peaceful for me. Maybe this is why there is no place - big or small - I haven't traveled on two wheels in the US and Canada. :nixon: (<--- double peace!)

Learning to be at ease in my skin

Today I'm cleaning and organizing my apartment. This is a job I've decided to do over the three-day weekend. Throwing things out always helps me, and the smell of a nice, clean, scrubbed house. Mmmmm.

I took a break to have some hot soup, which always feels good. Later, I think I'll have Chinese.

It occurred to me that I want to make this year one of finding peace-peace living within myself, and radiating outward from myself. It's in several areas-feeling at ease in my skin (finally), spiritually, emotionally. I believe it's a more easily defined goal than "happy". Certainly, I want to attract someone who is also at peace, so I have to be that way myself.

I believe it's possible to be at peace, and yet be passionate and excited. In fact, I think stress and worry-anything not of peace-"blocks" real passion and joy. I don't want blocks :).

Waking up before anyone else and feeling the love of Miss Pink and the furbabies as they sleep and dream. Hearing the faint breathing of my Pack all warm, and snuggly and safe in our little piece of heaven that is given to us each day before the demands of the outside world takes precedence for a while.

As of late, what give me peace is the ability to see peoples actions as belonging to them; an expression of who they are, and what lies in their hearts. Even if they call it by my name, does not mean it belongs to me. Kind of like watching an act in a play. When someones behavior is really ugly it brings me peace to be able to see it's just them, showing me who they are.......BOUNDARIES :candle:

Quite mornings with coffee and hearing my mocking bird in the backyard...so happy with himself.

Sitting on a beach...any beach at sunset by myself. Feeling the warm wind and salt on my lips. That is my grounding spot.

Knowing my family and friends are all ok and doing great.

Job security.

Making plans for more remodeling getting done.

Having a clean house and being able to just rest.

Knowing he is the calm in my swirling storm...

My dogs sleeping peacefully...

My elderly dog finally resting peacefully...

Him kissing my lips and stroking my hair as I fall asleep...

Waking up with him beside me sleeping beautifully...

Kissing his parted lips as he sleeps and I leave for work...

Talking to an old friend I have not been in contact with for a while...

Depends on the season. Winter is hard , most things I find comfort in require you to be outside. Sitting on the patio after a long day at work, just watching the birds, or butterflies, or listening to the bullfrogs, in my bare feet If I'm really restless, I run , or play basketball, or riding my motorcycle, I get alot of thinking done when I do those things. Just floating around the swimming pool is very relaxing for me. Playing golf always makes me happy , no matter what. I just realized something. When I'm restless or in pain, I just want to be alone, if I hang out with friends, or go to an event , seems to make things worse.

Watching all the beautiful bluebirds [from my porch and window] who have called our yard and trees home. This is the first time in my life that bluebirds have chosen to nest so close. It's a thrill to watch them and a special treat to see their flash of color and watch their antics (even if it means my car has birdie poop all over it).

Sitting hear enjoying a late breakfast while listening to all the birdies.... music to my ears.
