I thought it would be fun to see what everyones favorite candy is or what candy you loved when you were a kid . If you make great candy or know someone that does, Can I have some?. :girleating::cooking: Look.. I make Blaze drive me 60 miles to Galveston, for great salt water taffy, they make it right there in the store. the taffy maker will throw pieces at you while he's wrapping it . they have it by the barrels!!!! I buy several pounds. I love it . Ya know good taffy is really hard to find!... It's called La King's:king:

If you know a place where they make the best candy ever please share...

I wanted to start a candy thread cause i love candy , I don't eat much of it tho. actually prefer homemade. I have worked two candy stores I met my best friend there. We had to answer the phone "Candy Heaven Where all your dream come true." She hopes to have her own candy store one day.

my favorites: Banana taffy, chocolate taffy , Homemade caramel , pralines i sometimes get in new orleans, redhots:grindevil:

So..... what's your candy?:cc:
Happy Halloween

When I was a little girl... My favorite candy bar was "Rocky Road."

http://blogs.westword.com/cafesociety/RockRoad.JPG

I was 10 years old (last time I almost had one)... I had just come back from having my arm re-broken (was not healing right) and my Mom promised me a Rocky Road bar... Sigh ** She got out of the car and I waited like the good girl (who took the pain) I was (lol). She got back in the car, handed me my Rocky Road candy bar - as I reached for it, she said - "Oh No Julie, you cannot have this - you just had anesthesia and cannot eat for another 6 hours."

I WANT MY FUCKING ROCKY ROAD CANDY BAR NOW!

At Christmas my momma would make peanut brittle, and my mamma Bailey would make the pralines....yummmmmmm.

I love the peanut butter logs, and chicastix too when i was growing up.

Zero candy bar is still one of my favs, with a 7up to wash it down with!

Zero was the first thing that popped into my head! I haven't had one of those in years!

I have an ex that used to make the most amazing brittle. It wasn't hard but more like flaky. I miss that brittle.

We've got a candy dish in the back room at the office and my current favorite is what ever it happens to be in it. Right now it's some Halloween mix so there's Tootsie Rolls and peanut butter cups.

As a kid... it was the ooey gooey, stick to your teeth, sweet goodness of a SUGAR DADDY!

Around the holidays, I love when family & friends break out the homemade goodies like pralines or divinity. OMG!

But, my longtime favorite candy bar, is still Reese Peanut Butter Cups.

I don't usually have much of a sweet tooth (I prefer salty stuff), but when I was a kid, Mother used to get these things and make the desert recipe on the back of the bag. It was a popular favorite at the church pot lucks. I would snag 'em behind her back. Jeez, are they ever *sweet*, so I couldn't eat many of them at a time.

http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss201/fyrpuck/1009/circuspeanuts.jpg

When we'd go to the movies, my sister and I would always get a box of these:

Funny, but both of these are now considered "vintage candies". :|

Being from the Chicagoland area, Fannie May has always been one of my favorites, particularly Vanilla Buttercreams. No one else's are the same!

http://www.fanniemay.com/assets/items/82ozCreamEgg.jpg

Every Easter we would get a Fannie May solid chocolate bunny and a few cream eggs. They were huge and so good. I was last in Chicago in January and bought numerous vanilla buttercream hearts.

These are hard to find, and I am not supposed to eat them as I have developed an allergy to peanut butter but I still eat them anyways.

I don't eat sweets much anymore though.

Major candy fiend here!

I can never can have too much sugar...Actually some would beg to differ about that. I already bounce off the walls without eating sugar. Sometimes that just adds to my hyperactivity.

I miss penny candy when I was a kid...

Check out "what kind of snacks do you have" thread....LOL some pretty interesting stuff in there....

And, one of my favorite games when I was a kid was Candy Land.

One of my favorite candy bars as a kid was PayDay. The peanuts, caramel and salt. I too loved the board game, Candy Land. I have posted it somewhere before but I made my own candyland board game so I could play it at home and not just during recess or at after school recreation.

Now as an adult I still have a PayDay every now and then.

It's not in this article, but in another, it said that in choosing between sour or sweet and sugary treats, the better choice for your teeth is the sugary stuff and that the sour acids are like battery acid on your teeth. :|

I wish I knew this when I was younger; I would have used it to my advantage in negotiating my candy consumption with my mom.

I started off thinking, "I don't like candy that much." Then I read everyone's posts and was reminded of the apparently hundreds of kinds of candy I love.

Burnt peanuts
Butterfingers
Charleston Chews (vanilla, frozen and cracked)
Three Muskateer Bars (frozen)
Torrone Candy (nougat with nuts)
Peanut butter cups
Hershey Kisses
Candy buttons
Peppermint Patties
Candy straws
Barley sugar
Amish made lollipops in birch beer and cinnamon flavors

And more. I'm not a huge candy-eater, believe it or not. I guess I associate each of these with some kind of experience and eating them brings back memories.

My favorite.. Reese's peanut butter cups.
I really try to stay away from sweets, on rare occasions I indulge.

However.. I found a recipe to make a protein shake that tastes just like Reese's peanut butter cups!

place in blender, blend till smooth.
2 tbsp. Hershey's cocoa powder
2 tbsp. low carb/low sugar peanut butter
1 scoop whey protein powder
1 packet stevia
1 cup almond milk, maybe a little more to taste
some ice

Deborah
