Arwen, I'm right there with you. I'm addicted big time to it. I actually ordered the "tru blood" soda 4 pack. I basically got it out of curiosity, being a fan of the show, plus the bottles looked pretty cool (just like on the show at Sam's bar). It's blood orange soda and it leaves a bad after taste. Quite disappointing, after they were making a big deal about it. If you're thinking it will taste like Orange Crush, nope, it doesn't. I have the bottles on display in my bar which make for a great conversation piece, along with the bottle opener I ordered.

I am utterly MAD for True Blood. In fact, when I signed up for DirectTV for my new place, I had to tell them to make sure they added HBO! LOL

Ok, I rented Tru Blood and couldn't figure it out. I was bored in all honesty. I tried the second disk, and I still couldn't get into it. And I am a huge fan of the paranormal. Is this the same Tru Blood you guys are talking about? Did you have to keep watching it to get into it?

I'm not a reader, so no I never read any of the books.

I've been ready the books for years, and wasn't all that interested in a tv show based on them.. (I was like.. what? How about Anita Blake????)

But I was pleasantly suprised..

The show is more complex and involved than the books...I love the chart development ...

I found myself crushing on Jessica in Season 2. She never did anything for me when she was first introduced to the show, but then, BAM she struck me :D

This show is fantastic, the writing and the character devleopment sucked me in. At first i didint give it a chance and then i had to spend some time playing catch up because i blew it off. This is one of the best shows on tv and i cant wait for the next season.

I love lafayette, in this 2nd season his screen time seemed limited??

I did like maryann a lot, wish she wouldve stuck around lol

I am going to pick the books up and try them. I remember my writing partner insisting that I had to read them, but when I did try, I just could not get into them.

And I agree! Lafayette is the bomb-diggity! He cracks me up.

I used to call the books.. *The harlequen romances of the Supernatural World*

They were on my fluff list as something I could read at work... You know, something you could walk away from and then pick up again in two days... (I may have some slight issues with *eating* books that I think are really good)

Mitmo got me hooked on the show... She was like.. *damn, you have to watch this..*

I adore Jessica. Her translation of permanent teen angst into the foreverness of a vampire really works for me. I particularly adored the line "You are going to be sorry when I get an eating disorder" to Bill.

And his whole reaction to realizing that he is now the parent of one sassy, scared, wildly wicked bad girl has been fascinating.

The character development has been a bit slow for me on some characters. Sam has grown but Sookie doesn't really change that much. Jason on the other hand has been a source of hilarity.

Gods, he's dumb but so pretty to look at. He's like the caricature of the gorgeous blond only in male format.

So who do YOU think snatched Bill at the end? Erik is the obvious choice, but I am leaning towards the Fellowship of the Sun.

I'm not a big fan of the books.
They have all that corny, cringe-worthy writing that I hate about that genre. The series seems to have picked up an edginess that the books definitely lack.

I have read all the books and want to order the one with the short stories. I have not been this into a series since early Anne Rice!

I hated Maryanne and was glad to see her go. What a great death scene!

I also miss the grandmother!

I like Jessica, I think she is beautiful.

Sookie? some days yes, some days no.

I can't wait to see how Season 3! There are so many directions they could go.

I've read the Books partially, since I have Friends who majorly "spoil" events half the time for me...
therefore, I thoroughly endorse Eric's Lurrrrrv crush infatuation soon-to-be Bond what have u for "Suckie"[soo-kie, bill!]

Lafayette Rawks, and the Reason for his limited appearance in season 2 is, well, he wasnt supposed to even last in season 1 since he dies in Book 1 I believe, astonishing Fan following kept the Fabu-fag fangbanger boy Alive and well {Not to mention to the source of many a rumor that Eric might have a Bi side*never mind the Hawt moments with Godric plz kthnx*...in the series}

Tara oftentimes gave me itchy Palm syndrome, as does Sookie....
But yeh, she's deliciously sweet....

Maryanne's storyline ...and that Jesus camp..fuckin dragged FOREVER.....

And Jason pwns them all with lovely come back lines....

The Books v.s. HBO constantly get debated in some places, people who have read the Books enjoy the series because it deviates somewhat from the books w/o completely obliterating the "heart" of it...
So far, Eric's storyline with Sookie, with a few twists, is on track...
Bill's "whiney-decietful-hidden-past" as well....
Jason's....hmm...Im a bit confused on that, but by now he should be a "weretiger"...or leopard, I almost for certain figured the religious bitch would bite him....

I was half tempted to buy those "True blood" Bottles...but I have financial needs atm..

I love Erics character in the books, i hope they keep him the same in the programs. I recommend the books to everyone who loves True Blood.

i am not a huge fan. i own the first season (got it on sale) and watched it once. i saw a few later ones on HBO, and i agree re Maryann -- i would have followed her anywhere. i agree that the brother is a huge source of humor. i also like the gay guy who used to traffic in vampire blood. Sam not so much. He so reminds me of the sensitive new age country boys i grew up with. The lead singer in the band type. Been there and done that. And somehow no longer have ANY interest in that -- male or female version.

I LOVE True Blood. Got the DVR set but I'll be watching it live anyway. Read all 10 books, and I've seen every episode (more than once). I love Eric.

Really curious to see what parts of the books they'll use this season, its great that you can read the books and still not know wtf is going to happen - Allen Ball really blow out the parts he likes and gives them more meat, and gets rid of the pure cheese that the books sometimes have. (not great literature for sure :>)

I could just watch the opening credits over and over, so sleazy and dirty and sexy. :)

I have the True Blood drink and it's horrible. The bottles are very cool and I have them in my bar as a decoration and one in my office on a shelf. Tastes like a bad flavor of orange crush with an after taste. Don't bother unless you want the bottles for decoration.

ew.com has a list of 8 new faces on True Blood. Including Debbie Pelt, Alcide, King of Mississippi , his hubby, Sam's brother (who we met last week) and is a shapeshifter apparently (against the book rules!), tara's new love interest, and a Love interest for Lafayatte! :)

They didn't mention Claudine, but I know they cast her as well.

I'm glad this thread got bumped. I was thinking about posting in here but kept forgetting. I was wondering if anyone thought Tara actually killed Franklin. All she did was smash in his skull. I don't think that's how you kill a vampire, so I think he'll be back. She should have decapitated him and set the house on fire. But that's just me. I really don't like that storyline. He's annoying and Tara is just......not that engaging to me.

They introduced a lot of new characters this season. I do like Alcide, he's cool. Sam's family is mildly interesting. I like Jessica and Hoyt, I wish they were still together. I think Jessica is pretty funny but they aren't doing much with her so far. I think it's pretty clear Erick is going to have his revenge. I expect more bloodshed. Jason is boring. But all and all it's been a pretty good season so far.

Poor Tara isn't too vamp savy - she could have revoked her invitation to Franklin when she tried to run from him in Sookie's house. I doubt Franklin is finished off. He's gonna be po'd when he wakes up. She's really got a dark side - wonder if that's left over from Mary Ann?

I agree - Eric smiling is soooooo much creepier than Eric with fangs. I love it! He's got this terrific "got nothing to prove" thing going on.

Love Jessica - especially when she glamoured the customers about tipping Arlene.

Sam's parents - geez. His adoptive parents said they were bad people. Guess he is finding that out now. Although I think his mom really wants to be better. Poor Tommy. He seems so sweet and I think he is crushing on Jessica. Loved that "Smokin' hot vampire" comment.

Pam - oh, Pam....*sigh* love love love her and her attitude. I am glad they don't show her too much. As much as I love her, overexposure would ruin the character.

The Queen - has some issues. I got my answer. Hadley isn't a vamp....at least not yet.

I love Sookie's answer when asked what she is..."I'm a waitress."

Love the weres but they can be a bit much - guess that's just the way they are.

I agree that Jason is just dumber than a rock. As we say here in the south, "Bless his heart" (translate: He is so fucked up!)

I just plow through each book and I am glad that the show is following pretty closely to the plot of the books. The creative licensing I see is done well enough to keep me watching and engaged, waiting to see what happens next.

Erik is smokin - there is something about his comfort in his power that just draws one in. Pam is smokin in the portrayal of a strong woman who submits because she is inspired to - something I can relate to. Sookie grates my last nerve sometimes because even as much as you want to hug her, I just wanna shake her and tell her that it aint all about her all the time!

I am a tad disappointed in the show's portrayal of Sophie. She wasn't quite the obnoxious bitch in the books.

I still see interesting parallels in the vamps and othering and the LGBTIQ worlds. Russell's words to Erik in the limo about (paraphrasing here) "If we vamps would stop infighting we could conquer the humans in a day" could easily read, to me, "If we queers stopped infighting, we might be surprised at how we could change the inequities we face."

It's weird that the show is taking elements of the books but putting them in different places. Like Bill almost killing Sookie - similar but not quite. I'd rather it be totally different or the same, the almost the same bits throw me off and make me question my memory dammit.

My fave character at the moment is the King. Such a great, just over the top enough but not too much, performance.

Also, being a geek - I don't like when they break the rules. only first borns are supposed to be born shifters. Sam's brother shouldn't be one by book rules. Oh well, I'm along for the ride regardless.

I think the actors/actresses do a really good job at being what we think of as stereotypical small town/undereducated folks.

I'm not sure I like the storyline of Calvin and Hotshot. In the books, he was a much more likeable character with a sense of chivalry and I'm not seeing how the series is leading towards it.

I will miss Talbot. I thought he was just precious in a get on your nerves, over the top queeny kinda way.

I don't know why Hadley didn't tell Sookie that she was Sophie's lover. Its not like she shouldn't know that Sookie was Bill's girl or that Eric has some affection for her.

I hope they keep the variety of wolves, panthers etc. Otherwise it's just wolves and then shifters, which would seem odd. Why would their only be one group that can only shift to one animal. And then the coming out process for the wolves/shifters would be different. but then again, they change a lot, only first borns should be shifters/weres - not sticking to that rule so, wtf. anything could happen.

Yeah but, in the book...Eric's maker was not the nice godric from tv. He was pretty much a pedophile. So not sure how they would tie in bringing over Alexei. The whole father/brother/son dynamic from the book doesn't exist in the same way in the show.

I do however, want the Eric shower scene from the book. I want the whole Eric losing his memory plot line and what ensues. ;) Maybe next season.

All of the speculation that Lafayette is something supernatural is probably correct. Most likely it'll turn out he's a "natural" witch. That makes him a Supe, right?

BUT! Maryanne was able to control Lafayette - and Supes were supposed to be immune to her powers.

I'm excited about the thought of Lafayette finding out who he really is. I think Maryanne was able to control him because he has yet to embrace is power. :)

My writing partner loves these books and has read all of them. I thought the character of Sookie in the first book needed to just die and get it over with. She was like an older version of Bella from Twilight. :)

I have no idea why Brook didn't end up playing the part, I really don't care. I'm just glad. She doesn't have....facial expressions. I don't know if I could stand watching her as Tara.

Of course, I could just be biased because I am "used to" Rutina as Tara. Or because I think Rutina is more attractive.

I'm really glad that the writers have given Tara more depth than what she started out with on the show. It's so good to see her doing things other than yelling at people. :)

Very interesting ;) ..Quite different from the book.. . But I do like the rendition of Sookie. Bill is pretty much exactly what I had in mind.. Have a lot to see to catch up though ; ):tea:

Did anyone watch the Emmys? Eric (ok Alexander) is so friggin TALL. He towered over everyone in that tux.

And he can't burn all the way...

Next season should hopefully be the book where he loses his memory and well if you read the books you know. If you haven't you should, it's the hottest book if you're an Eric fan. :)

About the fae issue..
Sookie Stackhouse Books gives lot more details{of course :blink: }...
in the Fae world itself, they Frowned upon faery-human relationships..
And Sookie's great-grandfather{at least, in the Books} is a Faery Prince with powerful enemies..
I'm not sure if I should give more details, cuz it could ruin the possible suspense factor in season 4 {if they dig deeper into this subject}...

I don't think Sam kills his brother, maybe disables him long enough to get his money and knock some sense into him eventually...

Jessica/Hoyt continue to Annoy, although that "Intervention" attempt by his Momma was fuckin hilarious...

yeah, Sophie's "funeral wear" was smokin!

I think they intentionally made it more hokey than usual. The dialogue at the cement factory scene was horrific as was most of it throughout. I am sure it was no accident!

Tara's new do goes great with the convertible! Hoping she comes back as someone/thing very powerful!

Thought it was kind of a ho-hum finale as there were way too many mini-cliffhangers and not one that was just BAM!

Still... looking forward to the next season!

The Fairies are so much...earthier in the book. I mean Claude is a male stripper and Claudine hangs in Merlot's with men drooling over her.

This was a very poorly done episode and a terrible finale.

Sophie was fab as always but what was with the Crouching Vampire, Hidden Werewolf schmaltz?

And the Fairy thing? Oh my Gods just shoot me. Dull dull dull.

Bill as an asshole was really annoying. His betrayal of Eric really ticked me off. He's turning into some crazy stalker-ex.

Hooray for Pam and the best lines.

Of course, Sookie pulverizing Talbot was funny but her laughing? Creepy and gross and made me want to lock her up with Lafayette's mama.
