This has been one of our biggest challenges as species and whole industry exists based on panaceas for it.

I actually had an experience a few years ago where I was given a drug that I swear is an instant cure for the common cold. Sounds crazy yes? lol

I was due to have surgery early one morning, but when I awoke I realized that I had a nasty head cold. I called the hospital thinking the surgery would have to be postponed, but they told me to go ahead and come in.

When I got there and they saw that I indeed had this nasty cold, they gave me a shot of something. Within minutes the symptoms of the cold had all vanished completely. Now whether it actually "cured" the cold or simply rid me of the symptoms I do not know. What I do know is that they did not return at all.

I asked for the name of the substance but for some reason they refused to tell me. End of story.
