These are some of the same soldiers that just killed Osama.

We are asking everyone to say a prayer for the US "Navy Seals" team and their families. Their helicopter was shot down today in Afghanistan and have lost 30 team members.

This, as any, loss is very sad. These SEALS were not the ones involved in taking out Osama bin Laden. However, they were from the same unit.

"Most of the SEALs belonged to the same elite unit that killed Osama bin Laden, although they were not the same people who participated in the May raid into Pakistan that killed the al-Qaida leader."

This is a great tragedy. As is all the lives (on both sides) which have been lost.
This is a direct result of war.

My hearts go out to the families and souls of those who were lost... On both sides.

THe object of war is to kill as many of the enemy as possible.....both sides operate that way.

How about we all write our federal representatives and demand the US military and civilian contracters come home from Iraq and Afghanistan. Pray if you want, but action will speak louder.

I think we need to get out now, no foreign aid, no nothing to Afghanistan. If no one's been able to make a nation out of the place for over 200 years, then we won't, either. This makes me angry.

That's what I meant. Sorry for not being more clear.

uhhhhh.....make a nation out of the place?????......makes you angry?????

How do you think all those tribes/peoples in what is now Iraqi and Afghanistan feel? The West is who decided what land area would be called Iraq and Afghanixtan, (and Israel and the camps and reservations the Palestinians live on) not the tribes who have lived on those lands for tens of thousands of years.

Exactly, so let's get out and let the Afghanis run their country as they see fit. Everyone doesn't have to run their country as we run ours, no matter what we say. That goes for Iraq, as well. But no need to jump on me because I may not be as eloquent about current events as others are.

Unfortunately, it takes these kind of reminders for the price of freedom.

At the Baseball game today, as they do every Sunday, Major League Baseball pauses to remember our soldiers and sings God Bless America before the 7th inning stretch. An impromptu chant of USA USA broke out and completely drowned out "take me out to the ball game". I saw many people wiping a tear away.

This story about SEAL Team 6 being shot down is a fabulous piece of dis-information, imo.

It is perfect because now AQ can say they got us back for killing OBL, thus momentarily possibly satiating them and allowing them to "save face" in a way.

It also may lull AQ to have a false sense of security, since our elite tactical group has now all been "killed", by them.

No one knows exactly who was killed, or who Team 6 even was. And the DOD has asked the troops' families to stay mum. Convenient.

I am sure some unfortunate troops were killed in Afghanistan recently, but I find it difficult to believe that the precise group of elite Special Forces troops who nabbed OBL are the same troops who actually died recently.

It is a supremely brilliant ploy by the DOD, however. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea to say that the SEAL Team 6 troops were the troops that were shot down.

Now, SEAL Team 6 can get back to going about their business as if they never existed, which is probably exactly how those guys want it.
