Due to issues with a power grid, electricity is out to Southern California from Southern Orange county to Baja Mexico and East into Arizona. Power may be restored beginning sometime tomorrow. The San Onophre (i can't spell) Nuclear power plant has also gone off-line. It is over 95 degrees here...they say MILLIONS of people will be without power.

Be careful on the roads...the freeways and streets are really bad. Because there are no traffic signals anywhere people are having a hard time exiting the freeways, and none of the metered signals are working to control the flow on to the freeways either.

Hey All,
Sorry to hear about the power outage!
Be safe and try and keep us posted.
If you're running low on battery life for your cell phones, let us know if there's anyone we can call for you, etc.
Good luck and be safe!!!

it affected California, Arizona and Mexico. Power back on everywhere, yeah?
So what did those in the areas affected learn? What do you do in a power outage of this degree? I heard traffic was a bitch to navigate with no traffic lights working. Took people time to get home in an hour when it may only take 10 minutes.
what suggestions do you have? what supplies should one have on hand?
hope everyone stayed safe! thanks.

Don't allow your gas tank to go below 1/2 full...no power equals no gas. Make sure you have flashlights and candles and an outside cooking option...grill etc..
Some of the same things we do to be prepared for an earthquake serves us well when the power goes out....battery powered radio with extra batteries...several days water, a place to meet if there is an emergency with no phone service.
