View Full Version : The Tiger Woods Thing

Since all of the drama began last Friday morning, we here at TigerCast have been asked almost continuously from all corners of the internet, what our take on this whole thing is. As we, like you, are continuing to get new, sordid information on a daily basis, we felt it was irresponsible to make any sort of statement until the time was right and we felt we had enough information to make any such statement.

At this point, though, I think we know enough to be able to offer this, our feelings about all of this:

Though we have been making lots of jokes about this, along with everyone else, and are just as interested to see what happens next, we here at TigerCast have to say quite honestly that we are really, truly, very disappointed in all of this. Though Tiger's dominance on the golf course is legendary and will never be matched, what we really, truly liked about Tiger was that, even with all the fame and pressure and cash, he still seemed to be able to both maintain the focus on his professional career, but more than that, be a genuinely good guy. Even as it seemed every other high-profile, rich athlete eventually found himself in some sort of embarrassing shit, it seemed for so long that the HIGHEST profile, and the RICHEST athlete of them all managed to stay above it.

Probably naive on our part, but we so wanted to believe.

And now this. We feel a deep, dark, disappointed pit in our stomach every time we think about this. We will not go so far as to completely disown him after all these years, but our admiration has taken a huge, if not irreparable hit. It does not help that Tiger seems to have handled this entire situation as poorly as you could imagine, if he had any interest in coming through this looking like anything other than a slimy, lying pussy of a scumbag.

So we'll continue to joke. And we'll continue to hit refresh on deadspin and TMZ every five seconds looking for updates.

But we hurt. We hurt bad. We hope he turns it around somehow, un-pussies himself, gets out there and says yes, I've been a giant douche, I suck, please forgive me, because we probably still could.

But this sucks. That is our statement.

P.S. John Ziegler is still a bit of a giant prick.

Tiger posted a very humble apology on his website today. I looked for the story where I read this but couldn't find it again. He took full responsibility and said he hadn't lived up to his own values. He also asked to be left alone so that he could deal with this in private. If I find the story again I'll post a link.

The same weekend Tiger Woods had his one man car crash and women started selling txt's to TMZ? David Hasselhoff got so drunk he had seizures and was admitted on a 5150 psych hold. While he was on the way to the hospital his ex-wife got busted for DUI and blew a .14 almost twice the legal limit.

Why is the press not screaming for the children to be taken away from these two losers instead of worry about which sand trap Tiger is sticking his five iron in?

I think the answer's easy...
Whether they admit it or not, the Press adores sensationalism...
Let's put on a balance those stories....
A has-been who tries for a come-back with a uniquely talentless show getting so Drunk, he winds up hospitalized for 72 hrs [5150 is they hold u cuz you're a risk to yourself, and others, whether u like it or not, tight security measures to ensure u stay]....
Or....
A world-wide role-model, Bi-Racial Wealthy Sports Genius in a sport predominantly White, having a rather long affair, getting caught with his pants down in an accident, covering it and being a rather whiney petulant child in the process making matters worse for himself by being Non-Cooperative.....

Tiger is, without a doubt, a golf GOD. However, at the end of the day he is simply a man. The flesh is weak, no matter the occupation. I hope that things turn out for the best for him and his wife. I really feel sorry for celebrities that experience the dark side of being human. They're not gifted with privacy.

Frankly, I don't expect anything personal from Tiger. He's not my hero. He's not my idol. He's not my role model. To me, he's just a dude that totally RAWKS at golf...:golf:

I like Tiger Woods... I knew better than to think that he was out for a mid morning run, that his wife really saved him..

Do I care?

Nah, he cheated, that is their marriage not mine..

*I* Snow am not married to Tiger Woods, does his infidelities take away from what he has accomplished in golf?

No....

He was Tiger Mother Fucking Woods way before he married this chick, and it shall continue to be so...

Will she stay??

*shakes* mah 8 ball....

yeap she will for the tune of say 80 mill after 7 years...

What does oog me out is this...

This chick had golf clubs in her hand, or golf club, she bashed his windows in, it's a good thing it was not his head, then the jokes would not be so funny..

Domestic violence I am not down with, nor do I find it funny..

That is what is more perturbing to me, the fact that the police did not dig a lil further into that particular matter..

Do I believe she saved El Tigre? No I do think and this is just me speculating, I do think his wife came after him, 9 iron swingin..

THAT to me is disturbing, that and the fact he and his wife are getting more news coverage than the 30 thousand troops heading to Afghanistan..

Just sayin

So now I am gonna throw in another scenario that I bet the media or the gossip mongers would of not of found ha ha funny..

IF Tiger Woods had come after his wife, with any kind of golf club be it real or a kiddie one..

This story would have a different twist to it...

Angry black man tries to kill wife... I guarantee no one would be making any jokes about that.. Yet his pretty blonde blue eyed wife can bash his windows in and it's a joke..:wtf:

Funny how double standards are eh?

I feel bad for the children. They are the ones who are the ones suffering, and are going to suffer for the rest of their lives.

Tiger worked hard to maintain his "public image" in turn earning tons of $$$. And 9 women come out talking about their sex life & relationship. :coffee: I could careless.

How it ends...it makes no difference to me. That is between Tiger and his wife - and the lawyers involved.

I'm not trying to excuse his behavior. But why are we so quick to believe these women? ALL of them?

And what compels a woman to 'come forward' to tell HER side of the story? He broke her heart? Come ON. He was MARRIED for God's sake. I know there are always umpteen sides of any story.....

But when a woman comes forward and whines how a married man broke her heart.....it just blows my mind.....

This whole story is so, so sad to me. But we keep watching, don't we?

As a person who has seen cheating upfront, they come out of the woodwork because they want to be known, they want the media that goes along with cheating with a person. Some women just love the drama of it all.

Some people are just proud that they cheat and flaunt it.

If he has to pay his wife to stay with him then she has some issues and she needs to leave, I feel for his kids because I have seen what cheating does to kids. If the kids, when they get older, find out, the anger and resentment they feel towards their father will change everything. You can forgive but you won't forget.

I agree.

Last night, I heard a report that one of her friends said she came from a broken home herself, and she was bound & determined to try and keep the marriage together. If this is the case, I admire her. But then yes, there IS that small 'little' offer of $5 million....and then turning right around and buying a $2 million home in the Netherlands with her sister......

So here comes the speculation! Right?

OH! And here's another thing.......so the women are coming out of the woodwork and I'm hearing "professionals" jump to conclusions that TW has a sex addiction.

Does this seem to be a little presumptious?

Again.....I'm not defending him. AT ALL. But jeez Louise.....I SO wish we could leave them ALL alone, let them try to work it out/salvage what they have and not be so hungry for the downfall of someone... and not so hungry for The Almighty Scoop.

no its not presumptious IMO, my ex brother in law, who cheated, has addictions and yes sex is one of them. Alot of people have addiction issues but being in the limelight doesnt help either, nor has TW came to say anything about it, that he wants to remain private, you should have thought about that before you sent text messages and phone calls to these women.

Why the wife took the money and bought a house I am not sure, she might be using it as a means of escape or buying it to leave him, only time will tell.

then again this is just my output on the subject

What I dont understand is why we love to see "heroes" fall,,and love to gossip about them.

Not to be a pita..ok maybe to be a pita....but
Not one of us is close friends to any of the people so why do we speculate?
We base our speculation on rumors, propaganda,,and bs....
What good does it bring us?
What good does it bring them?

Cant we just, give them some privacy and respect and hope like hell our friends when we go thru such things dont talk about us they way we do strangers.

Happy Holidays.....

I think we are fascinated because TW is a golf icon. He has earned billions of dollars doing what he loved, and what we all wish we could achieve, but never will. We all want to think and believe that TW was beyond anything human, and now this makes him more like us.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I saw this thread start and haven't read a good bit of it.

This is a part about the media that is so disturbing, so violating. I feel it is none of my business and the worst part of the damage is private lives being sensationalized. (Hell, it killed Princess Diana!!) With the media it is like one big massive feeding machine. Folks don't have a life, feel they are entitled to "judge", to DEMAND... (?!) It really disturbs me on the "what's right and moral" plane - like crazy. But, then we have been judged as queers morally for so long.

Folks are human, they makes "mistakes". And like the Clintons, we don't know what the understanding was between Mr. and Mrs. Hell, the other side of the aisle (during the "Monica outbreak") tried to IMPEACH a president for getting a blowjob from... a consenting adult. "But, he lied"... they all insisted was their "reasoning". Well, it was no one's business or right to know. People acted like it was "high treason" for christ sake.

Now this is like the new Michael Jackson with the media.

And this is not like a high profiled athlete brutally running an illicit dog fighting ring!

I wondered, right away... was this when Tiger's father got ill? After he lost his father? No one can predict how someone will act once there has been personal trauma and loss. No one can possibly truly understand the bond between Tiger and his father... Personally, I think I would SPIN out somehow with a loss such as this. We know he dropped in the rankings after his Dad died. He couldn't play for awhile. He was injured...

And finally, there are folks - both men and women who go AFTER celebs sexually (as well as other ways). They look for vulnerabilities.

But, while this might be getting the ratings up a bit on the news networks - which have been in BRUTAL WAR competing for quite some time now... it will be a loss for golf - which I never gave a damn about until Tiger started playing. He was the first Black/Asian man to succeed like this in a sport that at one time did not even welcome anyone other than whites.

That in itself makes me wonder about some of the reactions here. And like other PGA players have not "wandered" in their marriages... (?!)

I would just wish for peace for his family right now. I'm embarrassed more about the media coverage and focus/obsession on this, than the initial embarrassment for the family with this being publicized. They are in deep pain right now - WOUNDED. That is my thoughts/feelings about it all. I feel the Wood's family just needs privacy at this time, like any other family in crisis.

And some folks just love to see "people fall", simply for their own envy and dissatisfaction with/in their own lives. For Tiger, I think this will be quite cathartic, and he will be back, stronger for it. I hope so anyway. But, it is his choice how he proceeds in his own life. I wish his family healing.

Sincerely
WILDCAT

*Anyone notice that they have NOW even brought out photo's of M. Jackson's private family paintings, inferring that they are incestuous? It's disgusting... And Tiger COULD be a sex addict - or he could have turned to crack! He might have just been in deep emotional pain for losing his best longtime life friend, his mentor - HIS FATHER. But, the speculating and judging... that has always pushed my bottons.

I haven't read the whole thread... no disrespect intended, just about to enjoy a movie and popcorn with my partner and smooch-pooch...

I can't say that I care about Tiger and his life/life events are none of my business... and I don't like gossip... but I do care about the people his actions affect... like all the children who attend the Tiger Woods Learning Center. I can only imagine how this may affect them... especially since they look up to him so much.

I feel horrible for TW's family, mainly his children. He is a golf hero, and has earned serious money for playing a game. In turn, TW's has given back a tremendous amount of money to those who are less fortunate. That is who this is hurting. What about the computers he buys out of his own fortune for children? What about the cash donations he makes to schools so children can have breakfast and lunch? Most times they would go to school hungry.

The media, and the gossip hounds can go around in circles fighting over and over. It is pettiness if you ask me. :censor:

Like Diva, I mute the TV when news comes on about him. I don't care to listen about it. I just wish his family some peace. They need to have that right now.

Wildcat, I was like you wondering if his father's death had anything to do with this. It may or may not. His scores did drop pretty bad. But in the end, who really knows but TW.

Namaste,
Andrew

Oh, yes I agree. The poor kids. Sex, sex, sex and more sex on the media about this scandal... where kids are seeing this, and parents must be going nuts - INSTEAD of getting to explain this age appropriately that "people have weaknesses as humans"... and we do "forgive".

And this is an adult issue (and not an "illegal" issue). I do take offense to the media making this accessible the way they are on regular network TV - to all ages.

Plus, if money is "below the belt" for men, he is already receiving punitive damages for his "actions/reactions" that are real - i.e. sponsorship. (STILL, none of my business.)

Thanks.

What he released to the media today was just plain damn creepy..even for me.

What was the point in bringing dear old dad back from the grave, tell me?.

He has no respect for women, him and his dad.
I for one can do without all that news coverage,I hate golf.
