The narrator's voice is slow, a bit monotonous but the doc
is valuable in understanding what Dr. Frankl and millions endured.

Victor Frankl was a world-renowned psychiatrist and professor who spent three years in a Nazi concentration camps during World War II. During this time he lost his entire immediate family -- mother, father, brother, and wife - with the exception of one sister. Among the thirty-nine books he authored was a book that is known in English as Man's Search for Meaning, translated directly as, saying yes to life in spite of everything. In this book he detailed his experience in the concentration camps, and shared his philosophy around the importance of meaning and hope.

Women's "Die-In" against the Restart of Ooi Nuke Plant (Jun/07/2012)

On June 7, 2012, about 70 women including 10 women from Fukushima did a "die-in" in front of the Prime Minister's Official Residence to protest against the restart of Ooi Nuclear Power Plant. Before the die-in, 10 Fukushima women visited the Cabinet Office and met with officials to submit a letter of requests addressed to Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda.


This video clip shows the words from the Fukushima women and part of the die-in.

On the very next day, June 8, 2012, Prime Minister Noda held a press conference and declared he would restart Ooi Nuclear Power Plant.

In the near future, American medical practice may change dramatically for the worse. No longer will maximal dose natural supplements—vitamins, natural compounds, and scientifically proven medicinal herbs—be available over the counter in local health and grocery stores. There are forgotten corners of this country where Americans are trapped in endless cycles of poverty, powerlessness, and despair as a direct result of capitalistic greed. Journalist Chris Hedges calls these places "sacrifice zones," and joins Bill this week on Moyers & Company to explore how areas like Camden, New Jersey; Immokalee, Florida; and parts of West Virginia suffer while the corporations that plundered them thrive.

"These are areas that have been destroyed for quarterly profit. We're talking about environmentally destroyed, communities destroyed, human beings destroyed, families destroyed," Hedges tells Bill. "It's the willingness on the part of people who seek personal enrichment to destroy other human beings...

And because the mechanisms of governance can no longer control them, there is nothing now within the formal mechanisms of power to stop them from creating essentially a corporate oligarchic state."

The broadcast includes images from Hedges' collaboration with comics artist and journalist Joe Sacco, Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt, which is an illustrated account of their travels through America's sacrifice zones. Kirkus Reviews calls it an "unabashedly polemic, angry manifesto that is certain to open eyes, intensify outrage and incite argument about corporate greed."

A columnist for Truthdig, Hedges also describes the difference between truth and news. "The really great reporters -- and I've seen them in all sorts of news organizations -- are management headaches because they care about truth at the expense of their own career," Hedges says.

Great thread. Finding meaning. Just so happens i've been thinking a lot about this lately. On the one hand, i know my "calling" in this life was to be a nurse. I bank on that as my reason to be here.

On the other hand, in 100 years will anyone even think about anything i've ever done or said. No. Realistically no. I didn't invent the wheel or the cell phone. I've done nothing in my life that will live on without me. All i can do is touch as many people as i can in a positive way, until my last breath.

This song has so much meaning to me and my life. It's an anthem of sorts. Very hokey i know, but the words are so true. This song has got me through some really hard times and i sing it LOUD and find meaning in these words.

Isn't life just living, existing, reaching out to others in need, to each other, trying to be a good friend, bringing a smile to someone's face, a laugh, a moment in time that we all know we are not alone here deep in our hearts. A journey of becoming the best we can be....just....climbing. In this world, in this life, it's really all we have...

Is that worthless in the big picture?

I sincerely pray, with all of my heart, it's not.

learning about these personality disorders from personal experience

excellent, excellent books.

it because Lexmark is the devil and programs their cartridges to
fail unless you pay for them with your firstborn child, and since I
just switched Quickbooks to my Mac and I'm no longer using my
desktop for anything but printing....and even though I'll have to
drop $400, I can't use the NAS for intermittent updates unless

Bottom line here people is that there comes a point when you can
overcomplicate simplicity. People ask me all the time how I'm able to
run an entire business selling nothing but pens, ink, and paper, which
is so passe to most people. But in an age where you have devices
like the iPhone with tens of thousands of applications that are all
designed to make life simpler or more convenient, we become
overwhelmed by all of the 'simplicity' being programmed for our
ever increasing number of electronic devices.

But writing is constant. Since cavepeople wrote in the sand with
sticks, the fundamentals of the art of writing has never changed.
You are still holding something in your hand and making squiggly
lines to get a feeling or idea across from yourself to another person.
When I write a letter to someone, I care about who they are, what
their name is, and what their world is all about. In the online world
there's just something lost in the translation that no number of
emoticons can fill. As we become more integrated online and more
detached from the physical world, the art of manuscript and
the physical correspondence of letters will become ever
more meaningful."

country where Americans are trapped in endless cycles of
poverty, powerlessness, and despair as a direct result
of capitalistic greed. Journalist Chris Hedges calls these
places "sacrifice zones," and joins Bill this week on
Moyers & Company to explore how areas like
Camden, New Jersey; Immokalee, Florida; and
parts of West Virginia suffer while the corporations
that plundered them thrive.

"These are areas that have been destroyed for
quarterly profit. We're talking about environmentally
destroyed, communities destroyed, human beings
destroyed, families destroyed," Hedges tells Bill.

"It's the willingness on the part of people who seek
personal enrichment to destroy other human beings...
And because the mechanisms of governance can no
longer control them, there is nothing now within the
formal mechanisms of power to stop them from creating
essentially a corporate oligarchic state."

The broadcast includes a visit with comics artist and
journalist Joe Sacco, who collaborated with Hedges on
Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt, an
illustrated account of their travels through America's
sacrifice zones. Kirkus Reviews calls it an "unabashedly
polemic, angry manifesto that is certain to open
eyes, intensify outrage and incite argument about
corporate greed."

A columnist for Truthdig, Hedges also describes the
difference between truth and news. "The really great
reporters — and I've seen them in all sorts of news
organizations — are management headaches because
they care about truth at the expense of their own
career," Hedges says."

Samella Lewis says, “My inspiration as an artist and
art historian comes from the need to bring greater
attention to the accomplishments of African American Artists.”

SAMELLA SANDERS LEWIS - The career of visionary
teacher, scholar and artist Samella Lewis spans some
fifty years and has taken her to many parts of the
world. As an art historian and scholar, her knowledge
is boundless and accessible. As an artist, Lewis remains
at the forefront of her field. As a collector, she has amassed
an impressive and diverse collection that includes
African American, Asian, Caribbean, Native American, South American
and African Arts. As a social and community activist, she will serve
as a reference for generations to come.

Her college education began in 1941 at Dillard University
in her native New Orleans, where she studied with her
mentor renowned artist Elizabeth Catlett. After two years
at Dillard, she transferred to Hampton Institute (University)
where she was a student of Viktor Lowenfeld, a Jewish refugee
from Austria who taught his students not to feel they had to
produce art to please anyone, but to produce it from the heart.
This is an attitude Lewis still maintains and imparts to others.

At The Ohio State University, Lewis received her Master of Arts degree
in 1947 and her Ph.D in fine arts and art history in 1951.
In 1952 she became chair of the fine arts department at
Florida A&M University. Her next stop was a teaching position
five years later at the State University of New York (Plattsburgh),
where she developed an interest in Chinese language and
Chinese art history. This soon led to a Fullbright Fellowship to
study Chinese language and art history in Taiwan.

On her return from Taiwan, Dr. Lewis was awarded a
New York state grant to study Chinese language and
art history at the Freer Gallery in Washington D.C.
with famed author and art historian Sherman Lee.
Following this she resumed her studies at
New York University and later at the University
of Southern California with a three year course
in Chinese language and history on a
National Defense and Education grant.

Currently Dr. Lewis is Professor Emerita of art history at Scripps College
of the Claremont Colleges. Scripps was instrumental in two of
Lewis' career milestones. The school provided space and assistance
in 1975 when she founded The International Review of African American
Art. The school also lent support to The Museum of African American Art
in 1976, of which Lewis was founder and director.

During the course of her career, Lewis has received numerous awards
and honors, including an appointment as a distinguished scholar at
the Getty Museum and the Samella Lewis Scholarship and Contemporary
Art Collection at Scripps College in Claremont, California.

About: BAILA (Black Artists in Los Angeles) Film Series is a
collaboration between Eric Minh Swenson and Lili Bernard.
The series celebrates the diversity found within the
Black visual arts community of Los Angeles, featuring the
voices of important artists and leaders therein.

Lili Bernard is a Cuban-born, Los Angeles-based artist
whose work explores the impact of trauma and the
unconquerable nature of the human spirit.

In the 1960s and '70s, the notion of American Indian
art was turned on its head by artists who fought against
prejudice and popular clichés. At the forefront of this
revolution was Fritz Scholder (Luiseño, 1937-2005).
This video introduction to the eponymous exhibition
"Fritz Scholder: Indian/Not Indian" was awarded the
2009 Gold Muse award by AAM for best video production
of the year.

Featuring 135 paintings, works on paper, and sculptures
drawn from major public and private collections, including
the color-saturated canvases for which the artist is
famous, "Indian/Not Indian" opened concurrently at
the National Museum of the American Indian in
Washington, D.C., and at NMAI's George Gustav Heye
Center in New York. The Washington exhibition surveyed
Scholder's forty-plus years as a working artist, with
particular emphasis on his groundbreaking and
controversial Indian paintings from the 1960s and 1970s.
The New York exhibition focused on the artist's works from
the 1980s and 1990s, when he stopped using overt Indian
imagery and explored mythical beings, the afterlife, and
the unknown.

"Jaune Quick-To-See Smith grew up on the
Flathead Reservation in Montana and
traveled around the Pacific Northwest and
California with her father, who was a horse trader.
Smith decided she wanted to be an artist after
watching a film on the French painter
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. She painted a
goatee on her face with axle grease and
borrowed a neighbor's beret so she could
be photographed posing as the famous artist.
In 1958, Smith enrolled at Olympic College in
Bremerton, Washington. She had to take many
breaks from college in order to earn money, however,
and didn't earn her degree until 1976.
She moved to Albuquerque, where she studied
at the University of New Mexico and founded
the Grey Canyon group of contemporary
Native American artists."

I do know one thing and that is when some toxic person spreads false info, it is because they see through the glass darkly and any false info they spread is more of a reflection on them. Moreover, they do incur really bad karma for doing so.
