Hello all! I've read the forums here from time to time, now am choosing to start posting as it think I have need for greater community, resources, perspectives.
A little about me... I'm not really sure where I fit in, but I'm seen as soft butch maybe in the queer community and frequently mistaken for male in the straight community (especially if the interaction is quick) I am also starting to use the term gender queer, though I feel the need to hang onto female/she/hers. I prefer female pronouns, but am not uncomfortable, even feel a bit validated, when misgendered.
So I'm here to help myself better understand me, become more comfortable with who I am.
Other than that I am a traveling medical professional. I'm getting tired of the road though, and I want to settle down and have a family someday. Currently casually dating but hyper focused on one sweet woman, who likes me for me.
Other than that, I like hunting and fishing, and am obsessed beyond measure with my Jeep Wrangler (if anyone here offroads... hit me up!)
Welcome ClintB, you have arrived at a very accepting and supportive community. Have fun.
Chad

Hello to everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself. Not quite sure what to say, so I will just say Hi and say I hope to find an extended family here to feel part of. I have read the threads? and think this looks like a good spot to come ashore. I guess one thing I could share is that I am retired-Navy and still serve in the Naval Reserve.
Thank you - Navy

Welcome Navy!
Hello, hello! I was slightly more of a lurker in 2012, but then dropped off the map. Everyone I've met around here has been so very welcoming. Thank you!
Still learning the social culture of the forums...
What I'd like to say is that I run a bi+/bi/bisexual empowerment project and if you identify within the bi+ spectrum, you and me should speak immediately!
: )
That said, i identify primarily as a feminist above all else, and as queer. My life is creative, independent, messy, delightful, curiously living for more life.

Welcome to the community, Clint.
I've been reading your posts out in forum threads and it looks like you're finding your way around the forums. And, if Dapper doesn't mind me saying so, I think you'll get some great objective advice from Dapper, as well as other butch and femme members in our community.
Best wishes,

Yo,
I'm Jack and I'm new to this site. I'm in my late 20's and I'm here to met other butch lesbians like me and maybe some cute femmes along the way. I'm mostly here just to feel a sense of community because I don't really have one where I am and would love to meet others like me.
I hope everyone has a good day!
Peace.

Hello all :)
Tell us about yourself
I'm early thirties.
I'm a little confused about how I identify. I look femme but I don't feel it. I don't really mind about this, it isn't a problem to me but I sort of wish it wasn't the case if that makes sense.
What are your hobbies
I'm a student at the moment but I finish soon (YAY).
I love animals and nature. I like being outside. Trouble is It's always freezing here!
I have three rescue dogs.
I powerlifted and loved it but got a nasty injury so can't do it any longer. I run now as often as I can.
I'm not out to family. I've tried, but it wasn't received well and It's since been supposedly forgotten about. I love my family and wish it was different.
What excites you?
Nature, knowledge, humour... Also pjamas, lazy days in the sun, and wine (I'm a bit sad like that)!
Where are you in this big bold world?
UK
What brought you here?
I like being online which is lucky as a lot of my work involves it, and find it fun and relaxing to chat to people be it about daft things or serious ones :)

Hello BF Folk, Just like to re introduce myself. I was a member a few years ago, Daisy Chain, I closed an email and effectively managed to lock myself out of my account  then life got busy and time went by but I have found myself dropping in as a guest of late so thought I would re join to post on occasion and fully enjoy the site. I notice a few changes here and there, seems like love has been in the air on the Planet, that makes my heart smile !

Dear members,
I travelled through the www-univers and decided to explore this planet a little further, so here is my first post in which I'd like to say hello to all users and hope we will write and read each other in the future. English isn't the native language of my home planet, so exuse me for any linguistic inaccuracies ;)
About myself: I have a passion for discovering and learning new stuff and always want to try several things at the same time - which messes my unfavourable time management even more up. To me, there is hardly anything that is 100% boring (apart from tax return forms) Currently, I am in a phase in my life where I become aware of deep needs that I'd buried for a long time. I have a quite restless mind and still believe in true love - yes I am a romantic at heart and believe in commitment. I enjoy freedom and search for an anchor at the same time, I appreciate a homely environment and love to travel - which i should do more often. I lived some years abroad and am quite sure not to become a granny in my home country.
So far, so good. Let's see and read :)

Hello!
I'm still getting to grips with all this (waves hand around) and I'm a tad nervous, so here goes, hope it comes out coherent!
Tell us a little bit about yourselves!
I lucked into a relationship with a younger woman in my 30's, first time for both of us. That lasted somewhat over a decade but we drifted apart (still friends though). I was too nervous to approach the lesbian scene until my involvement with the roller derby scene (since the start of 2016) boosted my confidence, and since the start of 2017, i've been gradually spreading my wings, finding groups to join, and improving my social life.
I used to be obviously femme in appearance, but always had a bit of a tomboy streak to my character. Currently feeling comfy somewhere in the middle of the butch-femme spectrum. Not too fussed about nailing myself down with labels, I see them as more like place-names on a map I'm wandering around a bit on until I find a place I'm comfy at. Or maybe I'll just slowly wander around forever. I dunno! (shrugs, smiles)
Oh, and despite my age, am regarding myself as a teenager at the moment, because I didn't really do teens back when the calendar said I should (don't want to go into that now). Since I made the mental switch from "heck, what I'm going through now is kinda like me being teenage" to 'heck with it, I AM a teeanager" it's been rather liberating, and I've been enjoying life more. So yeah, the calendar says I'm 59. Socially - knock 40 years off that, and if I make any stupid teenage-type mistakes, now you know why - I'm still getting to grips with socialising with my peers. If I err, please correct me - I do learn from my mistakes! :-}
What excites you?
Science. Science fiction. Roller derby. Women. Cats. Food. Music. Visiting places when I can (can't drive). Not necessarily in that order :-}
Where are you in this big bold world?
The Midlands, UK
What are your hobbies?
Reading, roller derby (I'm an NSO, but working on my fitness in the hope I might be able to pass the skating minimum requirements skills list), walking, improving my fitness, writing poetry (mix of comedy and non-comedy)
What brought you here?
I can't recall exactly how I found out about BFP, but having looked over the forums, it seemed such a nice community, and I thought it'd be a good extra thing to join to help me find my place in the lesbian scene. :-)

I love this!
Thank you for such a nice introduction to yourself!
One of my granddaughters was on the LA Junior Derby Dolls roller derby team for several years starting at age 8. They had teams for girls between the ages of 7-17. I loved going to her match-ups!
Roller Derby rocks, no matter the age!
She now loves acting in school musicals instead but it was a great experience for her.
Welcome to the Planet, I hope that you enjoy your time here!
:welcome:
(We don't have a roller skating smilie for some reason?!)

Thanks all for the welcomes!
Knight no, that is not Arabic. It comes from Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover novels - I am a member of a virtual Renunciate Guildhouse, and Esme nha Maire is my Renunciate name. it simply states that I, Esme, am the daughter of my mother, Maire, although I Gallicised her name to use as the last component of mine. For some years it was a lifeline to me, that online bunch of strong-minded women, and I took a form of the Oath in all seriousness and keep to it to the best of my ability, and always will.

(Chuckle) Thanks for letting me know that, Knight! Esme's a very longstanding nickname I was given, after Esme Weatherwax from the Discworld stories, in the days of Fidonet, so it's short for Esmerelda. I then used Esme as a pseudonym because of concerns over net stalking on Usenet back then, but it crept into the real world, and now I've been known socially as Esme for years, and I like it better than my original name (I very much admire Esme Weatherwax), so i am about to change my name legally to Esme.
Back when I was playing Eve Online for a few months, a couple of times guys jeered at me for one of my characters names, ie: Esme, thinking that it was a misspelt version of 'It's me', which they thought lame -to which I replied that they really ought to get out more and meet some girls, as they'd clearly not met enough to have encountered an Esmerelda before. Oddly enough they suddenly went very quiet, both times.

Hey, guys! I'm technically abroad right now, but I live in the UK, so if any of you do as well, I'd love to be friends. I live in the Southeast, and I love women's culture- especially media made by lesbians and women who love women in general- as well as being outdoors. Wishing you all a good day~

Tell us a bit about yourselves!
I'm enjoying the benefits of being over 50 (58 to be precise) including spending a week at Disneyworld for my 50th birthday. There's a freedom that comes with that age that I love. I have retired early. I'm living in a 32' motorhome and plan to travel in the US; I have not seen or spent any time in the eastern parts of the country.
What excites you?
Good conversation, scenery, nature, my extended family, challenges, and the b/f dance of course.
Where are you in this big bold world?
Home base is Albuquerque, New Mexico (USA as it states on our license plates)
What are your hobbies?
Bridge, reading and travel. I also enjoy watching professional football although I don't have a specific team I follow right now. (Thanks dad for teaching me if the offensive line stays down, it's a running play and if they stand up, it's a passing play.) I also enjoy baseball, but I prefer to see that live. (I still don't get the infield fly rule.)
What brought you here?
Google search and the need for community. I came out on-line 21 years ago and it's always been a good place to find friends. There is a dearth of B/F community where I live or perhaps more of a dearth of community altogether except around Pride and benefits.

Welcome fellow wench! :wine:

Hello ButchFemmePlanet,
I'm a Generation X queer woman based in Michigan. It's always nice to have a space to interact with other people in the community. I'm big into music, movies but not as much and I've recently become a television (drama series mostly) fan after years of ignoring it.
I can't say I fall neatly into either a butch or femme category; I think I'm probably more of a sporty type woman. I don't wear make-up and dresses every day but I love shopping and pedicures.
I'm not really good at introductions but I look forward to getting more familiar with this community and engaging in some cool conversations.

Hi, everyone!
I'm a 37-year-old femme, originally from the Detroit area, now living in North Carolina, not far from the Virginia border. I came out as a lesbian about a year ago after years of considering myself bisexual. A connection with a butch woman totally changed what I understood about who I was and what I wanted. I'm single now, but there's still so much to learn about this community and this culture. I am really looking forward to getting to know more people, and gain a better understanding of what it means to identify this way.

Hello all,
I just got approved to post.
I am a 44 year old single stone butch. I am excited to have found this forum, since I have not found much in the way of community here in the southern US.
My work is pretty intense, but thankfully leaves me with a good deal of time for travel and photography, my main hobbies. I’m also counting down the days to mlb spring training; geeking out on domestic and international politics; and like to be outside, especially in a national park.
My life is wonderful. I’m just missing a wonderful femme with whom to share it.
I look forward to corresponding with you all.

am new, happy new year to everyone :)
:fireworks:
it's fun being retired - like being a kid on permanent summer vacation (grins)
if only the weather would cooperate!
spent last year working on a book on meditation
(subjects like: seeing, observing, listening, insight, meaningfulness, understanding, etc.)
now, am taking a break from writing (sort of a retreat)
am quite the private person (soft butch :2butch: vanilla)
not into drugs, boozing, not on any medication
life is beautiful! (smile)

Hi, everyone! Happy New Year. :)
What can I say about myself? I'm a Southern girl, but I lived in the Northeast for a while. Now I'm in the process of moving to the West Coast.
I love being out in nature, mindfulness, cooking, books, and writing. Speaking of which, I've been writing a lot of erotica lately (not my usual style, but I'm going with it) - does anyone know if/where I can post stories of a more risque nature on here?
I joined the Planet because I love being a part of this community, which is something I don't have access to where I live currently. I love studying gender theory and learning about how others navigate the world. I'm passionately femme and I appreciate butches from the bottom of my heart. I adore my fem/me sisters just as much. I'm so grateful to belong to a community with a rich history of resistance, healing, and self-acceptance.
I'm looking forward to speaking with y'all and I know I will learn a lot from you. If you ever need a word of encouragement or a listening ear, please feel free to drop me a line.

Hey there,
I do live in New Orleans now(from ny originally), but the scene down here starts to feels very small at times. During carnival and nye it can seem like every homo I know is in town but on the off-season the town kind of clears out of snowbirds and tourists and I'm left with for the most part the same usual suspects I've known for years lol.
And by the way you are a total babe!

Hi all! I just found this wonderful forum after years of feeling like my wife and I were a dying breed. I'm so excited to meet you all and have a place to be among friends.
I'm a 34 yo femme, dog lover, mom of a 3 year old, and in the field of international trade for work. My hobbies include loving butches, travel, and cooking.
I am hoping to make some connections and new friends here, since my real life circle is small and I don't know many others in butch femme relationships. Thank you for the welcoming space!

Hi all, new here, can't sleep so I thought I'd post an intro. (five minutes go by...um...now what?) Ok, how about stuff I like: my dogs (yes, I'm a cliché), live music, Pipsticks, reading, traveling when I get the chance, a cup of good French roast coffee with exactly two brown sugar cubes, various Netflix binges, and spending maaayybe a little too much on clothes.
Something weird about me: I don't really like chocolate. It's ok I guess but I just don't get why it's such a big deal. If you can't be my friend now I understand... ;D
I'm not quite butch but I'm not exactly femme either... or maybe I'm both, I don't know. Let's just say, if I won the lottery I'd be spending a lot of time in Sephora AND Home Depot.
Oh and I have the BEST and sweetest and cutest girl. :heartbeat: She's like me, somewhere in between. Nothing wrong with the butch/femme dynamic at all! We just found a slightly different spot on the continuum and it works for us.
Anyway, hello! Happy almost July!

Hi everybody!
I'm Becky, I'm a transwoman femme. A little bit poly, a little bit kinky. I'm recently out-ish; sadly my life circumstances prevent me from undertaking a total social transition for quite a number of years, but such is life.
I recently made friends with an awesome and adorable lesbian couple who pointed me towards this website.
I'm a Gen-Xer, and my interests include complaining about various things (politics mostly), hiking, reading, movies, various geek media (Doctor Who, Bojack Horseman, GLOW, Life is Strange) and clubbing. I mostly enjoy industrial/goth and new wave/retrowave music but I'm also pretty chill with most genres for just listening in the background.
It's really nice to see such an "old school" site, from back in the old days before "social media" kinda took over. I look forward to meeting more and more of you. :)

Hey there, I'm a stone butch in my 20s. I've browsed the planet off and on for a few years now, but I just now got around to making an account. I'm glad I did! There's great stuff on here.
I'm originally from rural North Carolina, but I moved from Maine to the DFW area in Texas earlier this year. I enjoy camping, fishing, playing guitar, and getting my hair cut every three weeks.
Anyways, it's good to be here, and I'm looking forward to making some butch and femme friends.

Not exactly a newbie......I was here years and years ago. Think that's where the 3 Thanks came from when I made my first post today, after all that time. Maybe they're a leftover. Idk.
I've forgotten just which user name I registered with back then. Pretty sure I might have made a post or two over in The Loft, so gonna check it out to see if I can find any. Then, the website was closed for some years, but now it's back up and here I am. Been without any queer community for some time and just glad to be in a place where there's lots of "homosexuals.".....lol.

Not exactly a newbie......I was here years and years ago. Think that's where the 3 Thanks came from when I made my first post today, after all that time. Maybe they're a leftover. Idk.
