View Full Version : Newbies! Introduce yourself here!

We had introduced a minimum post count but that presents a challenge for new people who want to introduce themselves so I've created this thread to help.
Tell us a little bit about yourselves! What excites you? Where are you in this big bold world? What are your hobbies? What brought you here?

Hello everyone, BF newbie here, tentatively but eagerly foraying into the wonderful world of chic and chivalrous... or beauty and the beast... I'm not quite sure what to expect, uh.
I had something of a mid-life awakening and eventually ended up here. I'm excited to be here, because I could relate to many of the experiences and stories shared. I've been quietly educating myself on what's out there (I wasn't stalking, honest!).
Despite the wish for a quiet relaxing stroll, my artistic journey has been pressing me to reach out and find answers before my inner confusion sends me mad. It's about making sense of what I want to draw and write about. The community here has made me want to ask you, what do you think about sketches like the ones below? Not technically, but rather, does it do anything for you? Yes, no, kind of, not really? Would you want to see more of subjects along these lines?
[Pic1 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/t92qnwfdnyghq80/sketch01.jpg)] - I don't normally draw this, but for reasons I don't yet understand, I was inspired by this community to.
[Pic2 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/5l5ujp86totrsp8/sketch02.jpg)] :heavyweight: - Muscle art is what I usually draw, especially the bodybuilder type. Some people have really strong reactions to this stuff, so apologies in advance if it offends anyone.
I hope this was the right place to ask. If not, please direct me and I'll scoot right there (once my post count lets me). I'm really curious!
Thank you for any thoughts and guidance, and a pleasure to meet you all *bows* Also thanks for the warm welcome by the Chatroom folks where I chillz'ed while waiting to post here.
Mika (or Sam - dubbed by the folks at Chat as a new nick, I like it) :toypony:

Thanks Sleepy! The works here are fascinating, lots of creativity and beauty to enjoy and learn from, some are hilarious. I've tried to find some art that might be similar to what I'm drawing, but am having trouble finding some. I've looked in the Art section, perhaps I'm not looking in the right places. That's why I wanted to ask if any folks here are interested in the kind of sketches I drew, so that maybe I can draw more of it?
welcome to the planet, mika! :)

Hey all. I've been here for awhile and some of you have met me already. I suppose I should 'formally' introduce myself. I go by GraffitBoi on several different sites - most people just call me Graff. I currently live near Minneapolis, MN but am tired of the long, cold winters and wouldn't mind moving unless something makes it worth my while to stay here. I'm single but have fallen for a wonderful and beautiful femme. :-) I am FTM but am not going to move forward any more in my transition. I was on T from 2003 until 2010 when medical issues relating to being on it made me stop. I've had top surgery and a hysto (medical reasons) and don't plan on having any more surgeries. I prefer 'he' but will tolerate 'she'. I never go by 'hy'. If you ever have any questions for me just send me a message. I'm an open book.

Big hi and hello to Julie, Hannah, Frankie, Raven M, Vic and Graff. I'm new-ish to BFP too. I want to thank the awesome BFP Welcoming Committee for giving a great start to making a cozy home here.
Hello everyone! I'm yet another noob, checking out what the planet's all about.
About myself... I consider myself a butch*, but given that I'm a bit shy and submissive, some people might say I'm not. I don't know. If assertive and dominant are a part of the butch definition, then maybe I'm not butch. Maybe I'm just a masculine female. I do know that I feel like I fit in with the butch-femme crowd.
Oh. I'm in my early 20s.
*I'm definitely more masculine than feminine.

Welcome to BFP, Hare! And don't I know what you mean... :poc-nod: You've come to the right place, for sure.
There are heaps and I mean heaps of threads on identity discussions and musings, like this (http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=395). You'll find people from all along the spectrum of queer. The bottomline seems to be, "You are who you are. Be yourself. We're all on a lifetime journey of self-discovery, so why not help and support each other along, have fun while doing it, and throw parties from time to time (or all the time for some)."
A handy point to keep in mind: Labels are not identities. (http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?p=692873#post692873) Labels are what others give you, identities are what you give yourself. Big difference.
Take your time. There are lots of things to enjoy here if you know what I mean ;)
See you around!
Mika
Hey there! It's been a couple of years since I registered and I guess I didn't introduce myself then so hi! My name is Wendi and I'm a photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I proudly identify as Butch and am currently working on a photo project to document in a photojournalistic style the individual and unique expressions of butch and femme. I am proud of our history and am grateful to those who have come before us to pave the way. The web page for the project can be seen here: http://astrangerinthisplace.blogspot.com/p/butchfemme-photo-project.html
I was lead to this site via a Google search for Butch/Femme history videos. Today it's raining in the Pacific Northwest so I'm spending some time researching and gaining more inspiration for my project.
Other things that I like to do include reading, writing, spending time with my grown son and my wonderful partner and motorcycle riding.

Hello. I currently reside near Madison Wisconsin and live in a shockingly beautiful wooded area. As my profile states, my vocation is the selling and buying of antiques and collectibles. I have developed a good eye these last few years and get quite the "rush" looking for the goodies.
Loving and taking good care of my animal friends is important to me on a deep and spiritual level.
Anyway, as my user name suggests, I am overall a very easy going happy female who has been quite fortunate in my life. Very little to be vexed about and enjoying all there is.
I absolutely adore women. Some may even call me a *gold star lesbian*. I wear this hat quite proudly.

Hey all,
Just dropping a few lines to reach out to any queers in the Nashville area....
Without a place to identify with beyond the 1 lesbian bar and feeling like branching outside of the group I run around with, I thought this would be a great place to start expanding my femme/butch relationships.
So hit me up and let's go dancing...

Hi GetYaSome :) Welcome to the planet and thanks for the intro. Have a look around at the other areas of the forum. I think there's a dating/friend section and sections for various geographical groups. Dabble in the threads and the Chatroom and you're sure to find plenty of fun folks around.
Hello...I have lurked about for a while....finally registered and then lurked a bit more. Today I was exploring and ended up in a chat room so... I supose I should step out of the shadows and start interacting.
Not much to say about myself...I am living down in in the SW desert area in Tucson. I teach at fantastic alternative ed private school and then in order to live... work as a night custodian at a local public school. So...not a lot of free time.
I was a member of a online women's community that recently shut down so have spent the last year or so looking for a new virtual home hence the long lurking period. But...this site feels good and I have enjoyed the discussions I have read so...

Hello, everyone my name is Arin! I am new to butch femme planet and if you can't already tell a fan of Duck Dynasty and Jase is my favorite, love his sense of humor. I am a happily married 38yr old guy who is a down to earth family man, layed back and easy going FTM. I am interesting in chatting with and building new friendships with other FTM's or Butch Lesbians who live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Tx area. Interested in meeting other guys that I have things in common with to go out and enjoy doing guy things together. Bonus would be meeting other couples that my Wife and I both could hang out with. I enjoy going out with friends having a few beers and listening to all kinds of live music- rock, rockabilly, country, bluegrass, folk and etc. I enjoy concerts, being creative and artistic when the mood suits me, enjoy museums, bbq's, camping, road trips, traveling, movies, old school social games such as playing pool, dominoes, cards and etc. If you are down to earth, mature, but still have a healthy sense of humor and interesting in chatting, send me a message. Hope everyone here had a fun and safe Thanksgiving Holiday!

Hi everyone
I've just been nudged in the direction of this thread by lusciouskiwi so thank you so much for that. I fully intended to introduce myself before making my first post but I got a little sidetracked by some amazing photos in here...loving this place already.
I'm Val and I'm 39 years old. I live in the UK with my cat in a country cottage, close to a city. I'm a therapist with children in foster care who have the kind of life stories that sometimes give me nightmares. The children work so hard at recovering and they impress me every single day. I'm also studying for a masters degree.
I'm recently separated from my civil partner and not too sure about what to do with my femme lesbian identity after this loss. After 6 years together we had created the kind of comfortable bubble that couples do, so being on my own is both refreshing and a little scary. But we both knew it was time to part and mostly I'm ok with that.
I love music, every kind of music and especially when it's played live. I will go to any old gig just to experience the specialness of hearing the noise and being around music makers and lovers. I've played in a women's drumming band, orchestras and a rock band. I love it all and there is something so thrilling yet secure about being in a song or piece of music with other people.
I appreciate conversation about anything and everything, life, relationships, politics, tv programmes, gardening, vegan food, work, whatever. I find people, all kinds of people, completely intriguing but like most I can be shy to begin with.
I'm here because I believe butch/femme dynamics are special and exciting and need to be nurtured. Thank god places like this exist. I'm looking forward to making some friends just as soon as I've figured out how to work the messages and smilies and all the other features on here. Oh, and drag myself away from those amazing photos too.
So, hopefully see you around!
:cheer:
Well, a warm welcome to all who have joined recently!! Have fun on our Planet and I look forward to seeing you all in the threads... mixing and mingling. :)

Hello everyone!
My name is Sara and I just joined this forum tonight. I'm 35 years old and from the Midwest USA. I work at a public library and also as a freelance writer. I am currently married to a bio-man (for almost 7 years; no kids), but have recently come out to myself as at the very least bisexual (and more probably lesbian), and ID as a 'femme'. It has taken me my entire life of always feeling 'different' in some way and yet being scared to death of that difference to get to this point. I'm still scared, to be honest.
So, joining this forum is a big step for me. I don't know what my future holds. I still love my husband, but we are very incompatible in a variety of ways, apart from me finally admitting to myself that my feelings for women have always been stronger. I have gone through emotional and verbal abuse due to his immaturity and lack of empathy and self-absorption (and childish temper outbursts). He is 40 years old, so I highly doubt this behavior is going to change. I feel like I deserve more. I also feel like I deserve to acknowledge the person I truly am, rather than the person I tried to turn myself into in order to finally 'fit in.'
All of this said, I hope to make some friends on this forum; I've been reading threads and you all seem so insightful and interesting. I have a lot to learn and am anxious to finally begin this process of self-discovery.

Not so much a newbie this week, more like a semi-bie. It has been so much fun exploring the site and seeing all the insightful thoughts people have to share.
I used to visit butch-femme and for a while I was so sad it was gone, but it's great to see it alive and well :)
To the moderators: Thank you for your time and creating such a wonderful place for us all to gather.

Hello I'm new here and just looking for friends. I am from AL where I live with my family of cats, dogs and fish. And... I'm not very good with introductions.
Hi, hope you have a great time here at the planet and there are quite a few artistic-art and crafty folks.
What kinds of dogs and cats do you have?

Spoiled ones :) . I have a Jack Russell, a chihuahua, a solid white cat, an orange tabby and a Siamese along with about 25 very large and beautiful pond goldfish. All but the fish are rescues which, IMHO, are the very best.

Hi, just wanted to say hello from England. Just chilling here with my little girl, watching Star Wars and getting ready to go to her friend's food drive, something I never heard of before, it's a party collecting food to donate to a local cause. Yesterday we went to a 2nd birthday party. Busy social life these kids have...
Hope everyone is enjoying the run up to Christmas. Hugs to anyone who isn't...
peace :hippie:

__________________________________________________ ______________
Tell us a little bit about yourselves!
I'm a typical Virgo , and a Rooster in Chinese horoscope.
I'm a very down to earth type who loves nature though I don't get to be outdoors much due to the sad English weather. I am Spanish born and raised in Australia. Currently living in London UK for family reasons.
Broke up with my GF about a year ago and I think its now a good time to get myself out there again. Maybe start the new year with fresh ideas, meet new faces and just enjoy life. I work from home so I don't get to socialize much. I guess also because I have OCD and this sort of gets in the way and I'm just trying now to work around it and live with it.
What excites you?
The things that excite me the most would be my work as I do get to meet a lot of interesting people everyday. Right now I'm excited to be here writing all this as it has been a while.
Where are you in this big bold world?
At the moment Im in London
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are reading , My favourite authors are Poppy Z Brite and James Herbert.
I love to cook. I enjoy Mediation and yoga. I also enjoy building websites, though I'm self taught I really enjoy it.
What brought you here?
Im here because I wanted a place on the web where I can just hang out and write, and read and learn. I enjoy forums and I just felt that it was about time I came out of my hiding hole. :praying: Thank you
Just a quick hello from NYC.

Hi everyone! So, I joined here about a year ago, lurked for a while, forgot about this place, and then re-found it again today. Figured it's high time to introduce myself, so here goes:
My name is Liam, and I'm a trans-masculine person in my mid-twenties living in California. I've identified as a lot of things over the last ten years or so, from lesbian to butch to genderqueer to FTM, and just when I thought I had it all figured out, now I'm finding that calling myself genderqueer or TG butch seems to fit better. I'm not super comfortable talking about this in the trans-specific online spaces that I frequent, as I fear that any expression of this shift in my identity would be interpreted as regret or a desire to detransition, which is not how I feel at all. So I appreciate this space, which appears to have people with a variety of different identities represented, accepted, and engaged in dialogue.
Other things about me: I love hiking, backpacking, and just being out in nature. I also really enjoy swimming, reading, and singing. I'm extremely introverted, and quite shy, especially at first. I'm currently finishing up a masters degree in social work, which keeps me extremely busy, but I love it. That's all for now; hope to get to know some of you a bit more later. :)

Welcome to the site! As you explore the threads, I think you'll find several posts related to the journey many people have taken in terms of their identity. I identify as queer (femme), as I feel it more aptly identifies my sexuality and identity - none of the other labels seem to quite fit for the last several years, although at one time or another I identified as bisexual, lesbian, dyke. I hope you'll feel comfortable enough here to share your experiences - you fit right in! :)
Welcome again, and enjoy!

Welcome back !!!
Hi! All my real life friends talk about BFP, the folks, the gatherings, and just the total awesome that is this site. I never joined because I never felt like I was femme enough to claim that title, I was worried I wouldn't fit in.
In the past 2 years I have found, claimed and embraced my femme, 150%. I also found my very own butch in January 2012 after looking for so long I don't wanna tell ya the years. We live 200 miles apart (for now) but see each other a few times a month. So here I am, finally joined instead of just lurking :)
My name is Marla, I'm a dominant femme leather dyke who lives in Austin TX. My only children are of the furry sort (1 Dog, 1 Cat, and 1 Turtle (not a furry turtle, that'd be weird)).

I'd post a pic of her here but am not sure how to go about it. She is indeed a femme- a high femme at that! She out does even me in that dept. She won't get out of BED w/o her eye-liner, lol. She's very prissy and high-maintenance, also unlike me. She hates to get her feet wet, while I don't mind splashing about in the rain.
She's passed out in my lap snoozing as I write this. Her full name is Hermione Miners for short, but everyone knows her as Miss P (for Miss Priss). She has her own following on my fb page. friends who are there just to see pics of her and get news of her doings. She's quite a dog, lol.

Well I've had whippets for over 20 yrs now. My current is an almost 12 year old female who has never been high maintenance.. I'm lucky if she wants to have anything to do with me most days.. well she does expect me to feed her 24 seven. My other pup is a whippet mix. I have a pic of them in the gallery here.
This saturday, I am going to be picking up my newest, a 4 month old male, his name right now is prince william and he literally lives in a castle. He is about to get the shock of his life when he comes to live with mere peasants. I'm sure he will adjust with a name change and he will forget all about that royalty business.
It's nice to meet a fellow whippet lover. I am forever enslaved to them by choice.

So good to meet a fellow slave! They do have a way of twisting you around their little paws, don't they? I had no intention of getting a dog. Then I lived with a friend for awhile while I was recuperating from an illness and she had a whippet. Soon I was scouring the area for a whippet of my own. We drove to another state to get this one (a 8 hr drive each way) but she has been the best companion I could imagine. Only whippets for me now!
shall we become friends, then? we can trade stories!

I worked in a vet many moons ago and the vet had a whippet.. instant love for me.. first one I got here in OK so very close. My second was in WA state so had her flown here, the third, my girl now as in Arkansas, so a four hour drive, the whippet mix was 8 hours away, he was supposed to be full blooded.. was meant to be though.. and now my newest guy.. four hours away. Worth every bit of travel I say.
I'd be honored to be your friend!

I help people decide what tea to drink. I recently helped a person decide on a tea to give a coffee drinker and a company what tea to serve after a dinner with fish entree. I did a tea tasting last week comparing two teas from the same farm in Simao, Yunnan, China. I was very excited about the last one. Way cool.

The Virginia Creeper Trail is almost a stone's throw from my door. It runs through Damascus up Whitetop parallel to the Appalachian Trail. It's very well maintained and a gorgeous trail to use. People in town use it to get around town a bit, but you have to beware cyclists, lol.

Hi all!
I am looking forward to traipsing around the community. I have been looking for a place just like this, so I am very happy to be here. I live in Maine and there is little gay community here; I am sure there are many folks in the closet, but those doors are pretty firmly shut.
Many minds, like stores and restaurants in Maine during the winter, are closed.
This site, however, seems like a rather active community; others I came upon had tumbleweeds rolling through.
I am 40, and have lived most of my life disinterested in butch-femme dynamics. I was under the misunderstanding that such a dynamic implied an implicit inequality. However, I have been pleasantly "schooled" this year and am so appreciative of the education. I feel like an entirely new world is open to me and that's enticing, titillating, mind-bending and endlessly fascinating.
I only wish I had more women in my life to explore the B/F dynamic with; hopefully I will meet some people here willing to become friends.
A lifelong reader and lover of words, I am a writer, editor and teacher. I have also been in corporate sales, a nanny, sold running shoes, "bussed" celebrity parties, and took a stint in educational administration.
Enough about me.
I'd love to know more about you all. Any tips for getting involved and making the most out of using this site?
Thank you! :)

Any tips for getting involved and making the most out of using this site?
Thank you! :)
Welcome, PrendsMoi and all the other newbies! Here are a couple places to start:
The index to the whole forum: http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/forum/index.php
Or, if that's too overwhelming, here's the Maine forum:
http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=47
That one looks inactive, but I know there are some Mainers here, so I'll bet if you started a thread, others would find you!

Howdy y'all. I recently wandered over from a chat site that has closed, but I'm particularly excited about all the forums. I've explored a bit and really like the welcoming and respectful feel to the planet.
Just some random bits about me. I enjoy reading and picking apart the nuances of words. I have some pet peeves around grammar and etymology which I try to not let get in the way non-word-specific communication. I live in Atlanta, Georgia, not far from the aquarium. I am disabled and am currently dealing with some pesky health issues that crop up from time to time so you'll probably see me around a bit. Feel free to say "hey."

Hiya Peeps!
I've been wandering around for a few days, reading and posting a bit... Visited the late night crew in chat the other night... Nice ta meet y'all.
I have two cats, a lizard and a spouse. No kids, just nieces, nephews and younger cousins to spoil a bit. I'm lucky that I get to work from home most weeks, so I can randomly pop in every now and again during the day. Circumstances being what they are, I don't get socialize a lot, due to health and job reasons.... I'm a remote supervisor/jack of all trades for a marketing/merchandising firm. Officially I'm "part time extendable" which means I go from "OMFG let me get off this phone so I can sleep for more than 2 hours" to "OMFG I am so BORED! Entertain me!". My beloved Spousal Unit works at the same company. SU prefers to be more anonymous on line and since we're all squishy in lurves, I probably won't be talking as much about him.
If we have to get all labelly here, I'm a queer tomboy femme who prefers bare-footin' to heels and hose.

hey :) just wanted to say Hi to everyone...I am new here and thought I'd stop in and introduce myself a little...I am new to everything and really needing people in my life that can understand and relate...I hope to make a good friend for others and to find many good friends here in this little neck of the LGBT woods...
I am kinda shy, but that usually doesn't last too long....I am sweet, talkative, loving, goofy, kind and funny and at 39 I am finally starting to figure out the person that I truly am...it seems like such a slow process, but it won't always be that way and I hope to fully make my way to where I am going before my time here on this planet runs out...
I AM A LESBIAN...and it feels SOOOO Damn good to say it :D but I am only Out to a select few...my husband, my 15 yr old son, my cousin and a very dear friend that I can trust with my life....My husband would lose his job, reputation, etc.. instantly if anyone in the community found out, so for his sake, I choose to remain quiet until I feel the time is right to make such a life altering thing known, not just my life but for everyone involved...That is why I need others who can understand, relate, or know the frustration etc... that I experience on a daily basis......
Anyways, I hope I can make a good addition and asset to this forum and hope to get to know everyone :)
Peace, Love, and Blessings....Jinxie
Passing through to make an extended welcome to the newbies. Take your time and enjoy the threads. Lots to see and read. Most importantly, have fun!! :freak:

How-dee doo everyone from Texas...I'm another femme who wandered over here from another website that closed down. The Planet feels very warm and fuzzy so I think I stick around.
A little about me: I'm femme and one of those that doesn't leave the house without makeup. I just got out of a 6 yr, LD relationship so I'm staying away from the dating scene right now (not that some of the butches from the Planet chat haven't been trying)..ha ha.. :yesno:
It is just so..darned PLEASANT here. I LOVE it!!! I want to thank you all for creating this warm, fuzzy environment for us to slip right into. :loveBFP:

Hi Everyone *waves
I'm new and just now getting around to introducing myself in this forum.
I'm a chat refugee from another chat site and so happy to have found you guys. This place is awesome! :flowers:
I am a 40-something returning college student, working on my BS and AS in nonprofit mgmt and business, respectively. I also work from home for a website and have a side job that is developing. On top of this, I care for my aging mother who I fondly refer to as Godzilla. And yet...I still find time to chat :hanging:
I'm a simple femme, working on developing my cooking skills, balancing life as well as I can, and looking forward to my move to California to live (finally) with my g/f and hero, graham. :married:
Thank you everyone for being so welcoming, fun, and respectful. This has been a great experience so far and I look forward to the new chat forum coming up today. :jester:

Hallo Butch Femme Planet-
A friend<3 of mind referred me to this site and I thought I would check it out :) In the past I have posted on the AskJoanne website and so this forum is completely new to me.
I am a divorced mother with two children aged 6 & 8. About 6-7 years ago I was very unhappy in my marriage and fell in love with a woman. This caused me to question my sexuality and I started to realize some things about my past and actions/behavior in the past (attractions to women). I started coming out at as a lesbian. My first futile attempts at experimenting with the object of my affections were unrefuted. After about a year of remorseful contemplation I was actually introduced through a mutual friend to a butch truck driver whom I had a torrid 6 month "affair" with (for lack of better words). I fell in love with her and wanted to leave my marriage and be with her. She didn't really want a relationship with me and so "ended" it with me. She "broke up" with me and another woman moved in her house with her. I was heartbroken. It literally took me 2-3 years to get over this. I was anguished. I was tormented. I revisited every single moment in my head over and over again every night and couldn't live with it. Finally after much struggle I decided to leave the marriage. Even if I couldn't be with "her", maybe I would have the chance of being with another woman who loved me. So, 5 years ago I moved myself and my children and my possessions into an apartment on my own. I hired and attorney and filed for a divorce with joint custody for our two children. At this time I struck up a renewed "friendship" or acquaintance so to speak with the first woman I had ever been with (lets just be honest and say that my hopes were to always really get back with her somehow). Eventually the woman who was living with her moved out and they "broke up." I spent more and more time over at her place as a "friend" (always hoping for more) but there was never any physical intimacy. I always slept in her bed and she always slept on the couch. If there were one or two physical encounters she was drugged out - passed out. However, in my gradual growth over the last couple of years I came to realize that she just wasn't really the woman I was meant to be with. She didn't love me back and respect me the way a mutual relationhsip should be. I was doing a lot of caretaking and not receiving anything in return. Our lifestyles are too different and it just didn't work out. I started to feel used. What streamed sort of during and after this was a string of unhealthy, short term dating relationships in which I was always the one in love with someone who was a total "player", "drug addict", etc. etc. After about a year of giving and never receiving I got tired of it and finally decided that I should move on and could do better. It was at the point where I was providing so much and verbally abused and assaulted in return. I gave it a good chance, as much as I could for as long as I could, I really really tried but it just didn't work out. I started building a new base of healthier friends and branching out more into the social scene in my area instead of always being behind closed doors with her. I made new friends which take an awesome trip to Pensacola each Memorial Day weekend. I met some younger sporty women and had some flings but they never panned out because there was always an ex that was involved who they went back to, or they couldn't do an "long distance relationship", etc.
Then about 5 months ago this same mutual friend requested that I go out on a date with a "friend" of her "friend." I was really hesitant to any hopes at first - but after our initial meeting I was ecstatic to be associating with a lesbian who was stable, had a viable career, no apparent mental or drug issues, etc.. . . I didn't know these kind of lesbians exsisted. She actually wants to be in a relationship with me, is patient with my children, and I love her very much. We actually even went to the same undergraduate school, only five years apart and so we missed eachother. I continue to grow closer with her and feel like I could talk with her about anything. I have been working on myself with a lot of personal growth in transitioning from a stay-at-home mother to a full time career. She is darth denkay, a tomboy :) I am excited about what the future will bring. I am looking forward to spending time with her this summer on our annual Pensacola trip with friends, as well as a special vacation we have planned with the kids.
Anyways, that is my whole life story in a page or less (mius the growing up part:). Just wanted to introduce myself and say hallo - that is my story.
Audrey

I'm doing it a little backwards too...I registered a long time ago, and then didn't come back except on rare occasions, and now I have started posting and checking the site most every day...so I guess I am here to stay! :cheesy:
Some of you might know me from ButchFemme.com days or BFD days...I was Nan45 or Nan on those sites...I live in Minnesota and right now I am single, and have been for quite awhile. I am working on some major things in my life that I want to improve before re-entering any kind of romantic relationship. I just want to be able to present the best "me" that i can be, and be free of any heartaches or things that hold me back from fully participating in a relationship. I want to make myself, and my future partner proud of who I am, a woman that reaches for her goals and succeeds!
Friends and Family...without them I'd wither up and die. They mean the world to me. I have a very "functional" family, we are very close and get together once a month or so. My parents are both still alive (Thank God!) and are actually quite young to have a daughter as old as I am! LOL! I have a brother who is married to the most wonderful sister-in-law int he world, and a nephew who has cerebral palsy, and a niece that is graduatign from high school this year...and I have a 91 year old grandma that I dearly love.
OK, time to stop, hope to see y'all in the threads! :loveBFP:
Welcome to all the newbie news!! Have a fun time here and enjoy what this Planet has to offer. There's lots to experience, learn and appreciate. There's always lessons presented and lesson to share... l

Hello all,
In keeping with the recent Easter holiday, I'm dusting off my account and coming back to life. I was quite active on an old forum but I've not been part of an on-line community since 2009, I've been too busy dealing with the challenges and exploring the wonders of life.
What brought me back is that while I have a fantastic circle of creative people in my life, including lots of gay men, I seem to be the token lesbian of the group, let alone b/f identified. So I'm dipping my toe back into the cyber pool and, with luck, maybe I'll meet someone, although I'm hesitant to do the long distance thing and would rather keep my options to within an hour's drive of San Diego in order to facilitate a real-time relationship. Cyber friendships however know no bounds.
Besides, Ciaran has persuaded me to attend the Reunion this year so I might as well get all social like, connect with old friends and new :)
So that's enough for now, ta!
Just wanted to extend a hearty, southern "hey y'all" and wlecome to this magnificent Planet, to all the new folks.
It's great seeing so many new, smiling, and returning newer faces.
You will find many wonderful, kind, and caring folks here, always ready to extend a helping hand to you.
Come on by and say hello sometime.
Enjoy this Planet and all the varied forums..something for everyone. I find it to be so magically wonderful here myself.

Hello all, thought I'd check in here since I'm new here. Let's see, you should ask someone what they drink before you ask them what they do, but what I do is work in a gay bar where I ask people what they drink all night long. Sometimes I go into workaholic mode and work 10 shifts a week, and people will tease me that they never let me go home, and I just have a cot in the basement of the bar, and I say "It's more like a filthy mattress, really."
But the truth is my dog, my 2 cats, and I have a big house to spread out in, and now that it's getting nice, and I'm down to normal work hours, I'm trying to find something to do with myself. I'm feeling more human (or animal) with every 1 degree rise in temperatures outside.
I live in a small town where sexuality and sexual dynamics are misunderstood, and this leads to all kinds of comic misadventures. I find myself explaining myself every day that I go out in public, so I thought I'd try spilling some ideas here, where we at least understand some basic things about butch/femme, such as NO I would not rather just be with a guy!
And, I don't know, maybe find someone sexy and masculine to flirt with. That'd be nice. My heels and I caused a traffic accident once, so I guess I'm kinda pretty. Haha, that was a good day. My shiny faux snake skin heels and I just kept walking away from the sounds of metal on metal. I laughed out loud. Is that so wrong?

I really like reading something that holds my attention, makes me guess what is going to happen next in the story, or what have you. Well I'd never heard of this forum prior to this past weekend at Dinah Shore in Palm Springs. I talked with an awesome woman from West Hollywood that said she is headed to my lovely town of Austin in a few weeks for an event here. So I joined the forum for two reasons... one to see what it's all about and two to see if I can find her as we lost contact Saturday night.
Any ideas on where to post?

I don't know where to start. I'm new :p
Three things that brought me here...well for one, I'm a butch that finds other butches hot, which is not typical in the lesbian community. Butches/tomboys in general seem to be under represented-that's how I feel anyway.
I also could be transgender, but don't want to be lol. I donno I have a lot of stuff going on that I can't explain, and would love to talk with all kinds if people here. And I guess a third reason is I'm in my first lesbian relationship, with another butch, for about a year and 4 months. So from time to time it would be awesome to hear how others get through their differences.
user name is psykbutch because I'm a butch with a passion for psychology, and those are the two ways I see myself I guess. lol

I'm HOF, and I live in Maui, Hawaii. Newbie here to BFP, and I am looking forward to meeting cool people, and making new friends. I'm a little shy, until I get to know you. So, please feel free to hit me up for a chat, or just to say "hi".
This looks like a cool place to hang out, and I am really looking forward to it!!!
HI there Heart on Fire. Welcome to the planet. It is a pretty cool place to hang out. I hope you have a lot of fun here!
:balloon: Hi! Stumbled upon here the other day - never heard of it before but looks like a nice group of people :)
I'm on the east coast btw - in the sticks. Really. No one has ever heard of where I live. I've lived here 5 years, and my mother, who has been sending packages for 5 years, just today says "I don't have your address". :twitch:
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
(I hope I posted correctly. To the right thread.)
Hi Thatgyrl! I believe that sometimes you find the best places when you stumble around. We are a pretty great group. Lol at your mom. That's funny. Have a great time!

Hi!! I'm regina, and am an oldie from gay.com. Someone left me a message and told me to come here, ....so, here I am. SleepyButch, I remember you. Is this just a forum ....not a chat room.....I'm confused. So, here I am in wide open spaces asking for some help. Thanks

My apologies ahead of time for being severely quiet.:linus: That's just my nature. I have been navigating BfP for a few days, in what little spare time I have :laundryday: and love it here!!:loveBFP: Never knew a thing like this existed, but OMG wish I had alot sooner! I identify as a femme/sometimes baby girl, but don't ming working hard, and getting dirty. I do love being the girl though : and am petty sure Hy does too.:pipe: I love to fish:fishing:. Yes I bait my own hook and everything. Where I live, in Indiana, it seems like there is no such thing as a Butch/Femme hang out, meet ups, pick up, take out, or any other existence of the dynamic. Glad to be here!
Welcome to the Planet!! I'm originally from Ky, so I know all about there not being any kind of community in the Ky/In area. Great to see new folks here, so make yourself at home. I am sure you will find many interesting topics and awesome people here. Hope to see you around more!

I was Goggling and found the site. I hope this will be a great place. I have been around eons. I live in the Midwest and love it. The seasons are so great. I am in a relationship and we are very happy.
Lets see, we have a dog and two cats as well. I identify as butch. But as the years wear on I have lost some of the swagger. Hugs and love
