Last presidential election, I woke my daughter up the morning after with pancakes that spelled out "Obama won" . So she asked earlier in the week if I'd do that if he wins again, I said sure.
So, in the spirit of optimism, I've started the batter. We decided to make sweet potato pancakes. I was just mashing the sweet potatoes and we dubbed the bowl, the sweet orange bowl of optimism.
Now if I could stop feeling nauseous I can think about maybe eating pancakes tomorrow.
We decided that if we lose, we'll eat them anyway as we will survive pancakes.

I watched the election returns with my Mom last time. I had come out and my Mom had worked the phones for Prop 8 here in California. It was a bittersweet election in that Obama won and Prop 8 lost. My Mom is still here fighting even with some bad news health wise today. I hope she can see Obama win again! My daughter's homework tonight is to stay up and track the swing states. It is exciting to share this with her.

A funny thing if Obama was running in Canada he would win by a landslide, we are more involved in American politics than our own. The ramifications of Romney will affect us too. Let's hope that freedom prevails.
If Scott Browns concession speech goes much longer, I may have to go push him off the stage.

I've been asked what the Electoral College means in all of this. It's a numbers game, first one to 270 wins. If you look on the map provided each state gets so many college votes, the combination of each gets the candidates to the 270 needed to win. I'm only using MSNBC's #s because I want to keep track of each state as they come in. Going back n forth between sources will screw me up.

I wish she would stay on as Sec of State...but, Bill has got so much good going on around the world.
I think she wants to relax and enjoy. I think she had a load of stress on her.
By the way...she was brought up a republican. and learned and fought against her
parents and others etc...and used her own mind to conclude what was right.

Angie --
I'm about to go speak to the crowd here in Chicago, but I wanted to thank you first.
I want you to know that this wasn't fate, and it wasn't an accident. You made this happen.
You organized yourselves block by block. You took ownership of this campaign five and ten dollars at a time. And when it wasn't easy, you pressed forward.
I will spend the rest of my presidency honoring your support, and doing what I can to finish what we started.
But I want you to take real pride, as I do, in how we got the chance in the first place.
Today is the clearest proof yet that, against the odds, ordinary Americans can overcome powerful interests.
There's a lot more work to do.
But for right now: Thank you.

It wasn't women, Latinos, blacks or even the retiring baby boomers who decided this election. To some extent, it was all of them. And it was a girl named Sandy in a stage production directed by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), with an assist from New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg (I) that helped reelect President Barack Obama.
After months of finger-pointing, fact-checking and debates, it took floodwaters and raging winds, killing at least 111 people and knocking out power to millions, to set the election's final course.
The storm united a country that stepped up to aid its citizens. It was on the storm's center stage that the nation finally saw evidence of consensus and bipartisanship that Obama has been working so futilely for four years to achieve. And much to the nation's surprise, the prized reach-across-the-aisle moment featured the most ferocious Republican lion of them all, Chris Christie.
Call Christie what you will, question his own ambitious motives, tell him he needs to go on a diet. Whatever. He became Tony Soprano on a good day -- a tough-talking teddy bear of a guy who gave comfort to those in need and wouldn't take no for an answer. He let the world know how Obama gave him his direct phone number and told him to use it anytime. He stood up to GOP party puppeteers and wouldn't give Mitt Romney a chance for a photo op -- Christie was no longer interested in playing presidential politics when the lives of the people of his state were turned so upside-down, he said. And when he publicly praised Obama for his response to the storm's victims, it was a pin stuck in a Romney voodoo doll for all the nation to see.

Start thinking U.S. Supreme Court. How many appointments will President get to make in his second term? I am hoping two. What say you?
Bad news for Arizona. The most vile racist hateful Sheriff in the West was just re elected in Maricopa County. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is the guy who runs "Tent City" where temps top 120 degrees in the summer and people die. Mostly women. Innocent people who are awaiting trail or just happened to not have a green card or visa on them when they get pulled over. This man is a criminal. A murderer. And $8 Million came in to run his campaign, 97% of it from out of state. The guy spent $100,000 sending people to Hawaii to look for Obama's birth certificate while the state dropped organ donor programs and let people die because they had no money. He raids the homes of immigrants looking for people with no papers and deports them within 12 hours. This includes children. His "civilian militia" is suspected of having gunned down innocent people in the desert. Only bodies were found.
So America...in some of these lost forgotten places in the South..we are still in the 1950's...racism and hate still prevail..and a lot of people need someone to care. Do me a favor folks and ask our President to do something about Arizona and Sheriff Joe. A lot of good people are grieving tonight.

Looks like Prop 30 in California might not pass. If it doesn't, I might not have a job in a few months. There's a dark cloud.
Oh well, I'll worry when I know.
Florida looks like it will go Obama also
Obama leads by
53435 votes
and there are only
69494
votes uncounted

Just as I said that Jerry Brown got on NBC and says he's optimistic, that the early votes are absentee which are more conservative.

I know - the media over the past few weeks has made it look like it would be way too close to call .....

I am old. It still awes me to think that an African-American man named Barack Obama will have been a two-term U.S. President.
It's a good good night.
Wait.

Ginsburg will probably retire. Anyone else that might (or needs to)?
I think Justice Beyer will retire too. I wish Thomas Clarence would retire, but he won't. He is still young considering the average age of the justices and too ignorant to find a well paying job that is for a lifetime.
I am not a fan of Justice Antonin Scalia but he runs circles around Thomas Clarence. Justice Scalia may consider retirement.

Usually, the loser calls the winner and concedes.
Gross.
That motherfucker needs to be in his own jail for a week. He couldn't last.
When he arrests men he has them stripped down and makes them wear pink boxer shorts and tshirts. No shit. This is supposed to emasculate them. He is a moron. He serves them rotten food. I could go on and on but you get the picture. The Feds are investigating him but so far nada. Really thought he was going out tonight.
Last total I see on electoral is 303-203.
Obama is even ahead on the popular vote.
Think I can go to sleep now. :)
