Mom- when I stated it would be one of the shows on my list tonight, I mentioned that it makes me laugh. The show has also made me teary at times. Three generations of women trying to break a cycle. This show can touch my heart evoking emotions of laugher to tears and everything in between all in a half hour episode.
The two main stars are: Allison Janney (Bonnie)-mother of Anna Faris (Christy) daughter along with Christy's grown daughter played by Sadie Calvano (Violet).
In this scene Violet and her live-in boyfriend David Krumholtz (Gregory) arrange for his mother- Phyllis Munschnick (Linda Lavin) to meet over dinner and visit with Bonnie and Christy since Violet may be Gregory's future wife.
The show has continued to evolve beginning with season one and now season three with a continuing story line.

The Fosters
The Fosters Theme Song always gives me shivers, soft feelings, and tenderness.
wKqenBq0lws
The television show "The Fosters" stated these statistics of children in the foster care system:
35% of foster kids will be incarcerated at some point before they reach the age of 18
66% of foster kids who age out will either end up homeless in jail or dead within one year
I tried to find the most recent statistics for this past year and I could not. I did find quite alarming issues facing children in the foster care system and those that age out.
One of the producers is Jennifer Lopez and the creators are two gay males.
Jennifer Lopez's decision to become involved in the project is said to have been largely inspired by her late Aunt Marisa, Lopez's mother's gay elder sister who had faced discrimination during her lifetime due to her sexual orientation and was unable to have a family of her own.[17][18][19] When discussing the show's concept, Lopez stated, "Although [the script] was about a non-traditional family and had some newer themes, it had some really basic themes as well about family and love and what's really important. And life can be complicated and messy sometimes and not simple. It gives a really good depiction of family in this day and age."[19] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fosters_(2013_TV_series)

Joey and Rory...Hymns that are important to us.
It was a combination of Joey's testimony of her faith in God and the impact the hymns she grew up with have on her. Their ability to cope with the situation at hand.
Of course there was music. That girl could sure sing a hymn. I wish every cancer patient could see this show. She was so positive, her faith in God never waivered, I found some of the stories she told to be uplifting and inspirational.
Did I cry....yes like a baby, I cried.

If we don't go to the movies, we have several shows DVR'd we need to catch up on, so we will probably watch one or two:
Better Call Saul
The Americans
The Vikings
Beyond the Tank
I also have a bunch of Viceland documentaries I haven't watched yet but will still save. There are only so many hours in a day:
States of Undress with Haily Gates: Pakistan
Balls Deep: Orgasmic Meditation
Weediquate: The War on Weed
Weediquate: Marijuana Migrants
VICE Essentials: Sewers of Bogota
VICE Essentials: Heimo's Artic Refuge
Viceland took over the History2 channel and they have the most interesting documentaries.
I love Viceland.
PS: I forgot to mention Gaycation with Ellen Page and a guy named Ian (sorry forgot his last name). I don't have any on the DVR because I watch it each week. They travel all over the world and across the USA and highlight LGBQT life everywhere they visit. So far, besides the US, they have been to Jamaica, Japan and Brazil. Really good watch. Also, Ellen is the cutest and always wears a baseball cap. I am a sucker for dykes in baseball caps.

A side note:
A&E had an interesting new show,60 Days In - Sheriff Jamey Noel wanted to clean up the Clark County Jail. The previous Sheriff is serving time. Sheriff Jamey Noel has places 7 participants that agreed to be filmed. The participants are unaware of the other participants in the same unit. There is a former Marine, A police officer, a mother, a mall security guard, a teacher, Muhammad Ali's daughter ( a social worker using a different name that works in LA in gang prevention), and a young man 19 years old that has a brother that has been incarcerated for five years and still hasn't been sentenced. I found this very interesting. This has never been done before. They are not provided special treatment while in there but have two ways of letting the producers and Sheriff know they need assistance. It is not on tonight, I believe it airs on Fridays. It would be interesting to see BFP member's' thoughts if members care to share though it may not be everyone's cup of tea. I really hope this type of insight helps bring some changes to our incarceration system and those involved. I just finished episode 7 this week-end.

I do hope that corrupted officers are fired and good honest new ones are brought in. I personally believe that there is a problem in that they do not get enough physical exercise (structured) to let go of the tensions and that they do not have groups as well as education to stimulate the mind. Me too, one episode I watched people brought in an old helmet that the kids/grandkids somebody found in their barn and had been playing with forever. Turned out it was iron armor from the Spanish Armada, conquistadors or some such thing and worth a boat ton of money. I don’t remember now where they lived just that it wasn’t someplace like Florida, Colorado or New Mexico where it might not be as unusual for a thing like that to turn up, no it was someplace off the wall that usually doesn’t leap to mind when you think Little Spain, like Kansas or something. Anyhow I know I don’t have anything that valuable but I do have a couple few things I picked up dirt cheap that might be worth a little more than what I paid that I would stand in line, wait to have valued if the road show should ever happen to come this way. If so I’ll be one of those people they feature at the end of the show going – this is my item and worth less than $100.00 dollars but considering I paid substantially less well hey, I’m pleased. Or maybe saying, yes now in retrospect I can see I definitely paid way, way okay way, way, way too much. Anyhow didn’t you just love that commercial the one where an elderly couple watch the show see a blanket worth a bunch of money and the blanket behind them, draped over the couch that they’re sitting on is the same one featured on the program?

Really terrific 8-episode series from HBO, I recommend it highly:
"Based on the BBC series "Criminal Justice," HBO's eight-part production "The Night Of" stars John Turturro ("O Brother, Where Art Thou?") and Riz Ahmed ("Nightcrawler") in a story about a complex New York City murder case with cultural and political overtones. A night that begins innocently for Pakistani-American college student Nasir "Naz" Khan turns horrific after he meets a mysterious young woman. In custody and awaiting his formal arraignment, Naz realizes that his survival -- or perhaps his demise -- rests not with his attorney, John Stone, but with a *particular inmate at Rikers Island."

From OSXDaily.com (http://osxdaily.com/)
Watch the Rio Olympics Live on iPad or iPhone (http://osxdaily.com/2016/08/07/watch-the-olympics-live-on-iphone-or-ipad/)
Want to watch live coverage of the Olympics? You can easily watch any of the 2016 Rio Olympic games and competitions live right from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch (or Android too, but we’re obviously focusing in iOS), meaning you can watch any game and any country and any sport you want, you don’t have to wait for the evening highlights. You don’t even need a cable TV package, any iOS device will do.
All you need to do to watch live footage of any current Rio Olympic games is to download the NBC Sports app. Anyone can then watch live footage of the 2016 Olympics from within the app, it’s that easy.
Get the NBC Sports app here from the iOS App Store (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nbc-sports/id542511686?mt=8)
Just launch the NBC Sports app, go to the “Live and Upcoming” tab, and browse through the currently active games.
