I like polo shirts like this because you can either go casual with a pair of jeans and sneakers or for a more dressy look wear a pair of navy dress slacks and a dress shoe.......

The one thing that can muck up any kind of polo shirt IMHO is a big ugly pocket,,,

I agree with JD.. mens dress shirts do not work for all body types... for me the vintage fitted shirts seem to work great.... but a great resource for shirts is the Dapper Q site... which i follow.. its very helpful..

I guess I'm fortunate, men's clothes off the rack from any store fit me just fine. I also have rather large, wide feet, so I can find men's shoes, however I am quite old now, so I have wear orthopedic shoes. (none of them look very good, but like depends they are a necessary evil)

My previous gig required business casual and since it was a VERY conservative company I tended toward gender neutral-ish type of clothes... not wanting to go too "masculine." Anyway, so, I'd sometimes wear made for female shirts and sometimes I'd wear made for male shirts.

The thing I hated the most about the male shirts were that they are clearly designed to be tucked into trousers... long tails front and back. I hate having to tuck! lol Ugh!! Thankfully... my ex was quite the seamstress and she would alter my male shirts so that the bottoms were cut like women's short... more straight across... no tails. Whoever came up with this idea... genius!!

In the fall/winter I'm in flannel 24/7. Boots are a must. I wear jeans and t-shirts mostly too.

In the summer I live in "men's" cargo shorts and of course boots. Tank tops are a thing too because I love them.

In general I wear snapbacks of my favorite sports teams and I have a couple of beanies for when it is colder.

Eventually I want to get suits and vests and be a dapper butch, but I don't have the money right now. Right now I'm more a sporty butch and I think I pull it off and so does my girl and it is awesome.

*My unasked for two cents ... I can only speak for myself but I love a butch who wears men's clothing but doesn't wear them like men. Obviously because of my age. I like a butch who dresses a little more sophisticated/grown up as opposed to ballcaps backwards and baggy knee length shorts. Unless you are 21, that look just doesn't get it for me. And, even then it's still a pretty hard look to pull off unless you have a ton shit of ink and a skateboard. At any rate, I can't imagine any femme who doesn't love a well dressed butch. At a towering 5'4-1/2" (don't forget that 1/2!) most clothes that I like the color and texture of, read:men's, are always at least one size too big for me. If stores carry shirts, they go down to a 15/32, I'm 14/30, pants down to 32 long, I'm 30, shoes down to 8, I'm 7, you get the picture.

Tailors love me and I sometimes compromise by going to the boys dept for crappy quality and limited selection. Add the new "wrinkle" known as aging and it's kind of a mess. I no longer feel anything but silly in the stuff for the young guys, suits are kind of over now that I'm fully retired, where to wear those anymore?

I have to concede that I am no longer in my 20's, 30's, or 40's...

So I am entering the stage of trying to weather well and avoid the traps I've seen on others. This leaves the very murky and hard to guess "casual yet put together" age appropriate look. :blink:

Peter Manning (https://www.petermanningnyc.com) is a clothier that makes clothes in smaller sizes from the ground up which makes a huge difference. I've had great finds and then trotted them off to the tailor for the obligatory sleeve shortening only to find that the collar is scaled too large or the pockets are too large or low. Starting with a different "last" < borrowing a phrase from shoe makers, can really change the appearance from altered to intentional.

They have size charts and graphs showing the difference. Not cheap, but not outrageous either, worth a look if it saves the cost and time expense of customizing to begin with.

I have the same issue with clothes, I am 4'10" but a big guy. The waists fit me but not always the length and the straight leg doesn't work for me, but boot cut does but only for my western jeans, which are women's. I gave up on wearing guys jeans, but shorts I love men's shorts. LOL I think jeans are the only thing of men's I don't wear except well the chesticle holder but that wont be there if I have anything to do about it, soon.

I can really relate with the folks in this thread who've had a hell of a time finding mens clothing for shorter and/or husky builds. One place I've been able to find these rare sizes (without having to step foot inside a tailor's shop) is eBay. Where else could I find pants with a 25" inseam that I didn't have to get hemmed myself?

I got this blazer of off eBay knowing little more than the tag size (a somewhat uncommon 46S) and the chest and length measurements. It fits pretty good, considering.

I just thought it would be nice to wear something other than a cardigan or sweater vest whenever I go to some place special (theater, gala, concert, what have you). I like that the blazer's style is simple enough that you can dress it up or down.

Very nice, but not perfect yet. Here's one of the few people who still like the Miami Vice look. Pastel sport coat with tee shirt and baggy, pleated trousers that make you look like you're packing, true or not.

Neat sweater if you're flat/had top surgery/have a good, fairly comfortable binder. Color blocking is not as appealing on large chested butches. Would be better if the dark block were in the middle/chest area.

Our office building is frequently cold because the AC is always blowing … yes, even in mid-January! 've grown tired of wearing a scarf and just a few days ago another solution came to mind... the long since forgotten... mock turtleneck! lol :p
