Is anyone interested in hearing about home owners facing challenging times across the country? I’ve been seeing news articles lately about certain insurance companies making draconian decisions about not insuring homes and property.

I thought I’d leave this video today and hope that this thread can be a place for others to share about the homeowners insurance crisis that is paralyzing the market for home ownership, etc.

Next to the ensuing water crisis, I think the housing crisis and insurance on homes and property will be the biggest challenge our country faces (not to mention our crisis concerning who will lead our country next).

Please feel free to share solutions you’ve come across or such so others can learn and better understand how to navigate this issue.

For homeowners in the mid-west (Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Oklahoma, Kansas, etc), who have often faced tornadoes, hail storm damage, and raging flooding water scenarios of late, check out the Revolving Door Project link above.

Here is a key passage from their blog post:

“Democrats must start providing a climate-sensible and pro-consumer alternative to the deregulatory Republican led agenda that is pushing to help insurers to maximize profit and shift risks to the less powerful.”

I can’t help but wonder if the homeowners insurance market is dominated by Republican ownership of insurance agencies. I’m guessing it is because during the pandemic Republican owned businesses cashed in on government payouts to stay afloat, yet Republicans won’t protect American consumers even in the homeowners insurance market.
