I want to see Precious, I remember having to read the book for a class in college and being utterly blown away by Sapphires story. If this movie is halfway as good as the book it will be powerful

I have a few movies that I wanna see:
1) New Moon (yes I love the Twilight series too) 2) 2012 3) A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey 4) Astro Boy - I remember watching this as a kid and it was one of My favorite shows 5) The Vampire's Assistant 6) Paranormal Activity 7) The Fourth Kind Lately the movies I've seen and love are Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs and Couples Retreat ........ both hilarious movies that I really enjoyed seeing

I took my oldest niece and nephew and my four year old niece to see the new Karate Kid movie over the summer and truly enjoyed it.
The one movie that I would like to see is the new Harry Potter movie. I am also looking forward to the new season of Law & Order SVU coming out on NetFlix.

I don't see many main-stream movies any more, like independent/foreign films. And love old movies. But, I have found this thread to be a really good place to find out about ones I should take a look at. Always interested in "sleepers." I do want to see "Fair Game" when it gets to my local theater. Look forward to what you all have to say about it.
I will probably skip the US made "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." Just can't wrap my head around a US re-make of this being very good. Who knows. Thanks! |

I finally got my hands on the movie Soldier's Girl, have to say that I'm really glad I did. I think it's probably the best transgender movie I've seen, particularly one based on a true story. While it dealt with the discrimination Calpernia and Barry faced leading up to Barry's death, the film's creators themselves didn't negatively portray either character (while also showing the problems and insecurities of the aggressors as well). On top of that I couldn't see any attempt to strip Calpernia's identity as an MtF away from her/put her womanhood into question in the end, which is definitely a great change. That's one of the things that really irked me about the way Boys Don't Cry was written.
If you haven't seen it, I definitely recommend it. |
