I was thinking about the upcoming new years and our rituals of making resolutions. And that lead me to think of how close resolutions can be to what we want to put on our bucket lists. Like, quitting smoking, lose weight, finish college degrees, etc.
I also know that most resolutions dont get fulfilled. And that bucket lists can be simply dreams that never get fulfilled and that we might get caught up in the belief that we just cant reach further than we already have and so I thought, there are plenty of examples of people who have stretched beyond their reach and accomplished their dreams. Like I always wanted to be able to look at a tree and know what it was by its leaf and its bark. I went and got a 2 year degree in horticulture and by Jove, I can (or use to be able to) ID most varieties of trees. I also wanted to open my own shop ...and I have done this. So two things checked off my bucket list.... but there are some I havent done yet...like write and get published my book. And ride in a horse show at least once before I die. So maybe since I am 56, and my time left on earth is now less than the amount of time I have already spent on earth, I need to take my resolutions more seriously and coordinate them with my bucket list so I can get as many fulfilled as I can. So, I wanted to start this thread to see what bucket list items you were able to check off....what resolutions you saw to fruition, and what you still need to accomplish. I seriously want to get that book written. But I doubt I can work on riding in a horse show this coming year because I am so busy with my store. But maybe the year after... so I have a timeline even! how about you? Does anyone want to share?

There's a whole site for that! http://dayzeroproject.com/user/guihong/list/58747
Or, "101 Things in 1001 Days". The link is my 101 things list (though you can add things and it "lets" you have more than 101). There's also other options for lists. I find it motivating.

wow, you have accomplished almost everything on you list! I would love to read your poem you wrote! But never in a million years would I go visit a haunted house! LOL. How different our lists could look from each other!

Some are "in progress", but sometimes that progress is a snail. I really need to get back down to it.

I don't even have a bucket list really but I know one thing I want to accomplish before I kick off is being able to run a 5k.
Maybe I'll start a list now!

A lot of my bucket list is comprised of places I want to go, and the things I want to do once I'm there.
Ireland Italy Scotland Wales Alaska (multiple times) The Galapagos Islands South America I am not looking for luxury on these dream trips, I want to immerse myself in each destination. The list just keeps getting longer. At 40 (nearly 41), due to health issues (some current, some thankfully past), I am uniquely aware of the fact that life is a blessing, and that we only have so much time to enjoy this beautiful planet, and its amazing scenery and cultures. I better get busy. Great thread idea Miss Tia, congrats on your accomplishments, and good luck on the goals you have set for yourself! |
