I'm with Hack in that I have all the apps blocked. My Facebook is an odd mix of real friends, lgbit activism, and celebrities I like. Mostly, I joined to keep track of Doctor Who and to receive special offers from places I shop. I too, like to post random stuff, but there's only one person I'm flirting with these days!

It's also listed under my secret identity, Holly Hellfire. (several of my real life friends followed suit and have secret identities of their own) Feel free to add me if you like! I just like to maintain a bit more privacy and I'd be very easy to find as my mother bestowed upon me a VERY unique name.

The people from high school and college that I care to keep in contact with are good friends, and my family are a bunch of gossip hounds that don't need ammunition. I really don't feel the need to have all my co workers or my boss as a friend on Facebook. Really? My boss needs to know when I play hooky? But that's just me. Ever mysterious...

I joined facebook because my mother urged me to.

It's true.

I don't play the games and I don't have my schools listed. However! I do enjoy the friends I have there and I like to see what everyone's children and pets are doing. And it's handy for finding out local happenings - I like that bit a lot.

Less than usual lately though.

Everything else is blocked.

Mah Mommy still friends all mah Friends cuz
she still thinks everyone on FB knows who her kid Daywalker is.

FB has become more of a Networking Tool as of late.
For that I am forever grateful.

I love Facebook. The only games I play are Family Feud and 1 vs 100. I used to play Mafia Wars and all the Farm games but I got tired of keeping up with who was killing me and killing them back and watering my trees and such so I blocked all that junk out. So now it's just mostly keeping in touch with school friends and family.

Has anyone else heard about the hacker group called "Anonymous" that's claimed they will shut down FB on November 5th? I sure hope FB has their own set of hackers to prevent it cuz I'm on FB pretty much nightly...I'm not what you'd call addicted...I just like to check in and have fun.

I'm a facebook gamer. Or was until my class/work schedule got so hectic. I still play my farmville. I play that sims social game too. (Daywalker's mom is still my fav gaming friend on there cause she always sends the best stuff...lol) Mostly I just check into Starbucks, school, and different food places. Oh, and post lots of mobile uploads of food, my cat, my fam, and weird things I see along the way, to go along with my ranting, quirky status updates. lol If anyone wants to add me, just msg me and I'll let ya know how to find me.

So currently the question on Facebook regarding employment is, Would you give up your password or log in for an employer to check out your page? Why is this ok or not ok? Would you work for a company that does this?

Employers are at risk for discrimination claims if:

- the employer asks some, but not all, individuals for certain information (ie, Facebook passwords),
- the employer discovers bits of personal information (e.g. race, religion, sexual orientation, medical conditions or political views) that are typically made available on protected Facebook profiles or in personal conversations.

Because of this some companies have been asked to not ask for such information.

Is it legal for an employer to ask for my Facebook password?

There are no specific laws to protect the social networking privacy of employees and job applicants, though lawmakers in some US states have introduced bills to prohibit employers from requesting Facebook passwords. It can be an offense to use a computer to gain access to data you are not authorized to use.

Facebook’s has a Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. According to Section 4.8 of Facebook’s policy, “You will not share your password…let anyone else access your account, or do anything else that might jeopardize the security of your account.”

What can I do if I’m asked to give up my password?

Defend your rights. Ask about the company’s social media policy. Express your concerns about your legal rights, quote Facebook’s official policy, or just say no.

what is the funnest facebook game? i have to teach a 45-minute class on facebook soon and i cannot foresee how to fill that time without introducing games.

i don't play fb games either but i tried to play words with friends once (before i got really shy and socially anxious about it and stopped). i have a lot of friends who like it. it's basically like scrabble i think

I just don't have the time though.. it's consuming and so much information and things to do there. Thats what you should discuss. LOL

.. maybe also how it's interactive with everything else on the internet, twitter, youtube, pinterest, etc..

Twitter will not be covered in this class!
It is a staff-only class and my coworkers do not need to know I even exist on Twitter! That is where i go to talk smack about them!

They can be my Facebook friends b/c Facebook Jenny and Twitter Jenny are totally different people almost!

I have a love/hate relationship with facebook. I have found that it truly is the only way my crazy family can agree to communicate with each other. Plus, it is a fun way to keep in touch with folks I normally wouldn't have much of a relationship with. I have gone through periods where I close my account but have found that I am far too curious for my own good and will eventually wander back.

I am dreading this election season. That's when my undies really get in a bunch. I sense a facebook vacation coming up.

Funny thing about that love hate thing with FB. I hate when they change it for the better, they say. I was never into blogging, but on FB I am there every day saying my good mornings...and it isn't really for anyone but me. I post incessantly just about every silly thing I do, and for some reason I am always getting into something.....just like I was keeping a diary.
One of the great things it does for me is lets my mom know where I am and what I am doing, especially when I travel. She doesn't worry so much because she can check up on me on FB

I am so sporadic on facebook. I'll check it several times a day for a few days, and then nothing for a month or two.

This is going to sound so negative, and I don't mean it to, but one of the rants that keeps me on my soapbox the longest is the whole stupid "I'm mad at you, I'm unfriending you" BS that happens there... with adults, mind you. I could write a paragraph about this - it irks me so much - but I'll just say I really hate the drama breeding ground that facebook can be and the platform that allows grown-ups to behave like adolescents. But then again, the internet as a whole can be a breeding ground for passive-aggressive games, as much as I love the web and all of the wonderful connections it brings.

During the blizzard a couple of winters ago, I got hooked on Farmville, but I realized I had a problem when I began to drive home like a bat out of hell because my pattpan squash were about to wither! I had a rational moment and quit soon after!
