New Year's Day Traditions

Cleaning/Fixing; My mother and aunties would clean the house from top to bottom for the new year. They'd clean baseboards, tops of doors, the works. I don't do that. But apart from my normal chores this year, I got a window washer to clean the windows.

Purging: I'm pretty good at purging, but have decided to make a point of also doing it for the new year. So this week I gave away some paper books, plants, pots for plants. Had someone take some broken appliances and a broken exercise bike to the dump.

Food; For dinner I'll eat blackeyed peas and collard greens for good luck and prosperity in this new year.

I like the way you did new years day, my family did something like that way back in the day.
I used to have friends over for dinner then we would head out to the casino to lose money even win some once in a while. The casino and the city would put on a huge fire works display that took about an hour. Thin we would go back to my place to chill or sleep it off if they had to much happy hour.
Now most everyone has either passed on or moved so I just enjoy a nice meal with family then keep the rest a nice peaceful day, diffrent but good just
the same.
