Robert Evans, Hollywood actor and producer, who passed away this weekend.
He produced Mario Puzo's The Godfather (aka Godfather I). He kicked Coppola out of the editing room because Coppola didn't want to edit the film the way the story was told in the book. Evans wasn't having it and booted him from the editing room. Later on, Coppola came out with a director's cut that was edited chronologically. I thought it was a disaster. The film and book opened with the wedding scene and rightly so because it set the stage for everything that happened afterwards. Thank goodness for Robert Evans and here's hoping he RIP. That's who's on my mind right now. |
