I posted this in the "makes me smile" thread earlier. But thought, if anyone in here had ever .... Oh, lived in, visited, driven through, heard of Vernon, Fla., .... you'd get a giggle out of this

Edit: I lived in the Panhandle of Florida, so, I totally understand folks cutting off limbs if they live in Vernon -- though I'd imagine it's the boredom that drives them to it. I mean, I'm not saying it's a great career choice, but really, there's nothing to do there these days -- even with the dog track just 20 miles up the road in Ebro -- so it had to be worse in the 50s/60s before cable TV even came along
