I've been in Austin for 18 years. It's certainly a great town. A consideration for moving might also be traffic. If you know you're going to commute, Austin traffic is pretty horrid. Pretty damn horrid. As in, you'll spend hours in it.
Also, the music is amazing. But the tourism and capitalism has kinda dampened the authenticity (IMO). Good luck with your search!
