As a youngster, i wanted to be an office worker. i would set up my work desk with an old broken phone, blank forms that i bought (with my own allowance money) at the 5 & dime store, an adding machine (this was pre-pc, people), and old papers that mama gave me. i have no idea who i worked for, but i answered that phone and filled out forms for hours on end. my name was Laurie Mc-something or nother...the last name changed but the first was always Laurie.
Later, i wanted to be a teacher. i still do, kinda. But taking math in college killed me...twice i failed. i still cannot grasp the concept of a few 0s & 1s equaling something other than how many 1s were there. And of course i fell back on the old "i will NEVER need this in real life!" and just gave up eventually. Really, when i grow up, i want to start my own school for physically challenged kids. i grew up at the end of the segregation of "normal" & disabled kids, so i didn't enter regular school until 3rd grade. i always missed the CP (cerebral palsy) school i attended before that.
