I am definitely a "fixer" ... but I've learned over the years that fixing is not always what the other person is after. More often than not they just want to vent and want someone to listen.

Protection is right there in the description... boundaries. The other thing I've learned over the years is that... identifying... creating ... and holding boundaries requires a lot of practice for everyone. A lot of practice for me and a lot of practice for friends and family. Changing oneself means changing others too.


Yes and i sometimes have to remind others not to try to *fix* me... a *no action required* disclaimer as it is sometimes the natural response.

i learned long ago not to take on other's suffering (i did body work on terminally its and the severely disabled ) but learning to not take on emotions of others, especially when they are intentionally trying to get me to feel as bad as them, seems so different to me.

Maybe i can apply the same concept.. that it's their path, not mine, and no one asked me to take on their shit.
