I shoveled enough snow to clear a path out back for my dogs to go out. Well about an hour after that, it looked like I had never even shoveled! Still steady snowing and the wind blowing snow EVERYWHERE. The Blizzard of 2018 is outside my door as we speak, and thank the Goddess I only work weekends at my job! So for the first time in a long time, I get to be snowed in with my spouse and our dogs and just sip hot cocoa and relax.

It's official, I've become a bit of a wimp regarding cold weather! 3 degrees C here this morning, with a 16kph wind, and despite being pretty well wrapped up, I felt cold, rather than pleasantly cool.

Sigh. Ah well, it's still better than getting overheated! :-}

-13 this morning. -21 tomorrow morning. Frostbite setting in within 30 minutes aaaaand I have a ton to do outside today. Looks like it's going to be 15 in and 15 out, rinse, lather and repeat.

One more day of "Polar Whoretex" then it looks like 20's 30's and 40's (!) for the next 10 days! BTW, I play this "game" with myself where I take screenshots of the lowest temp of the season, and replace it when it goes lower. The rule is that the sun must have risen in order for it to qualify. Last year, was 9 degrees lowest. This year so far, -1. Right now it's -2 so I'm gonna hang out to see if it holds for another few minutes till official sunrise. SO EXCITING.

i grew up on the connecticut side of long island sound, spent many hours at the beach, and i have never seen a phenomenon like the "bomb cyclone"

p.s. i was always taught salt water cannot freeze...apparently it can! (at 28.4F)

Our weather in California is comfortable, I will leave it at that but will say that according to CALFIRE, the Thomas fire is still going, albeit, almost out.

It is 7 degrees with a wind chill of minus 6. It says here there will be am clouds and pm sun.

Sooooo, I'm guessing the snow that is currently falling must be a figment of my imagination. I am not shoveling so my imagination better knock it off.

After the power was out for 7 plus hours this morning and the inside temp kept dropping (one bedroom down to 42°) it's taken all day to get the livingroom back up to 59°. That's toasty compared to what it was at 9am when everything came back on and stayed on.
