The reason for the 2 different needles is because when you puncture the rubber stopper on the vial of T, it dulls the needle, so you want to use another needle for the actual injection into your muscle. Also, using the larger 18 gauge needle to draw up the T is easier because of the viscosity/thickness of the T. The 18 gauge is too large of a needle to inject with. Ask your doctor about this.
