I haven't posted in here in a really long time but today I hit a milestone so I wanted to celebrate a little.

I started this journey at the end of 2019 with a high A1C. (It put me in the prediabetic range.) I decided I needed to do something! I stopped eating "recreational sugar" and switched from regular to diet soda. I also kept an eye on my portion sizes and my carb intake.

Today I hit the 85 lbs lost mark. Yay!

Default Finding joy in my journey each day … ☺️

Practically most of my adult life, my weight has yoyo’d up and down for what seems like ages (5 decades or more).

What seems to help me the most is a strand of thought by Steve Maraboli, in his book Life, the Truth, and Being Free:

Quote:
Get Off The Scale!

“You are beautiful. Your beauty, just like your capacity for life, happiness and success, is immeasurable. Day after day, countless people across the globe get on a scale in search of validation of beauty and social acceptance.

Get off the scale! I’ve yet to see a scale that can tell you how enchanting your eyes are. I have yet to see a scale that can tell you how wonderful your hair looks when the sun’s glorious rays shine upon it. I have yet to see a scale that can thank you for your compassion, your sense of humor, or your contagious smile. Get off the scale because I have yet to see one that can admire you when life challenges you.

It’s true, the scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your body in relationship to gravity. That’s all it can do. The scale cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength or love.

Don’t give the scale more power than it has earned. Take note of the number, then get off the scale and live your life! You are beautiful!” — Steve Maraboli.

This strand of thought by Steve Maraboli has helped me so much in letting go of the notion that using the scale to measure my weight is only helpful in the smallest of ways. The biggest change, for me, has been to let go of using the scale to define what weight loss looks like on my body frame.

When I frame my life with positivity, by acknowledging my own worth outside of the scale, then life and happiness is truly mine to enjoy.
