I am humbled by those who have gone before me, who have been the bridge for me to be where I am today. I am humbled by their sacrifice of life, blood, and self so that I have the choice to waste or take advantage of opportunities when they come; to live and be the bridge for others or to be selfish and turn a blind eye.

To my ancestors and those who fight for freedom...thank you.

...That lil guy that loves to fall asleep on my chest
...That other lil guy who is as blind as they come, but more loving than all the others combined
...The big girl who is an only child, yet as adored as she is adoring
...The old girl who has led a wonderful life
...The baby girl that is so happy-go-lucky in all of her prancing glory -- right through my living room until she bottoms out into a wall

The depth of love and trust they show their humans...is amazing.

Most of all...

I'm humbled by the love I'm shown daily. The devotion I'm shown. I'm even humbled by disagreements, because it's the hard talks that makes the relationship works.

When it's hard, because it's hard, especially when it's hard.

I am humbled by all of the volunteers cleaning, ever so gently, all those birds and turtles saturated by oil. Also, I am humbled by organizations like Habitat for Humanity that build new houses for people that have lost everything. Volunteers there, too. I volunteerr locally for organizations, but many of these people travel great distances footing their own bills to lend a hand and give up vacation time and sick leave to be able to do things for others.

By the willingness to do anything to work through any situation with a positive outcome.

I'm humbled.. when a resident thanks me for caring for them. It's a rare thing that occurs.

I'm humbled.. with all the dogs and their trusting nature.

I'm humbled.. by her willingness to open her mind to new possibilities.

I'm humbled.. by the depth of her acceptance. A year ago, she'd have said "I don't think so". Now she says "I love you for YOU, not your body".

I'm humbled.. by coworkers accepting my trans status. Being in the bible belt, it's not really something you want to loudly advertise. The 4 that know, have been awesome about it.
