Tonight we danced to music
from another time.
She was in step with me—
in step with my soul and I with hers.

I kissed her long and deep and whispered,
"You're one with me, and I will never let you go."

Then,

I drew her in tightly
as if to never let her go.
When I opened my eyes
she wasn't there.
