Lighting a candle for Terrell Martin who is my bestest guy buddy. He had been my EMS partner for over 20 years. We have been each others rock through lifes up's and down's, on duty and off. He had gastric bypass surgery on the 19th. What was supposed to be an hour laparoscopic surgery, turned into serious complications and into a 7 1/2 hour ordeal. He is in critical condition in ICU in Beaumont. He is still on a vent and is now showing signs of renal failure and had his first round of dialysis last night and will have his second one today.   |

The doctors are optimistic - at least the surgeon is. The cardiologist and the pulmonogist are being cautious, which I understand. His heart is still holding strong. Still on the vent. They were able to do dialysis yesterday. Dialysis is taking so much out of him, but after it he seems to be resting easier.  I want to thank each of you for your prayers and the rep comments. |

His creatinine is down to 1.7 almost in normal range. He is taking breaths on his own with the help of the vent and at times fighting the vent! They had to strap down his left arm because he keeps trying to disconnect the trach. He is getting really agitated with the vent and this is damn good sign!!! Thank you all for the warm thoughts and prayers, they are working! |

They have him sitting up with his legs off the the side of the bed. They are having to hold him up - but he is trying. Speech therapy will start as soon as the trach come out!
