Ah, you dig snakes and such? Not my thing, but, I can appreciate the work.

Durham's pop art. A kitty with a crown! Thanks for the link.

Glad you like Joe Brown's work too!

Not a fan of snakes - reptiles are creepy and icky! I just loved the suprise of a snake on the stairs. Kind of an Addams Family thing.

Speaking of the Addams Family...I loved the portrait they had of the Giraffe (at the top of the stairs in their living room) intrigued me as a child and sparked my interest/love of the surreal.

My Mom is responsible for my art education. She was an artist (as am I) and there were loads of books in our house. If we were traveling, she made sure we visited museums. She encouraged me and my brothers to nurture our inner artist and express ourselves in our favourite media. I had 4 years of art in high school and adored every second. But like her parents (who forbade her to study art in college - "You can't eat art!" - is what they told her), she did not encourage us to pursue a career in the arts.

It was from her many books that I discovered Pieter Brueghel the Younger. What amazing works! Fascinating...I have spent hours searching some of his work. There is so much going on.

I'm in awe of people out there who deal with Alzheimer's, because they have to deal with death 10 times over, year after year.

I have a guestion for art lovers here especially the lovers of Impressionist artists. I remember the teacher in art class showing us a painting that I just loved. And I have been looking for it for years on the internet. I believe it was either an Italian or a Spanard that painted it.

It shows a scene with St. Francis of Assis; a very detailed painting of him with animals. One can almost see the individual eyelashes on the subjects that is how detailed it is. I thought it was El Greco or Velaquez but have not see anything like that in their works.

Anyone have any idea?

Oh there are so many images of St. Francis...

any of these? http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl...f&oq=&gs_rfai=

From the description you provide it sounds like an Italian Renaissance painting, rather an Impressionist. But that is just a guess.

One of my favourites of Francis is Caravaggio's 'St. Francis in Ecstasy'

I <3 Caravaggio!
