You've lost a member of your family. It's not only okay, but healthy to mourn. You need to talk to some like-minded people who understand what grieving an animal is like - and you certainly have touched many of us here with this thread.
I've never had rats myself. Don't know how I missed out on that - I've had just about everything else.  But my brother had them for his kids for years. They had mazes for them that covered almost one entire wall of the basement. They were lucky rats! Rats are intelligent creatures; full of fun and love. Anyone who has known one can understand why you would be feeling the way you do.My sympathies on the loss of your family member. I hope the other rat can adjust to his/her loss as well. Sue
